  1. No editorializing here. To just answer your question, No ... MOST cruisers on HAL do NOT wear lanyards.

And you know that how? Is there a survey?

I can say that most passengers on all my cruises have indeed used lanyards.

  2. I've had upsells to Neptune on almost all my HAL cruises. This year we were offered what I considered an expensive one from Signature to Neptune for the larger segment of our back-to-back (3 weeks) and we passed on it. On the third go-around we accepted, it was much more reasonable.

Oops, forgot to mention - all our offers came through our TA, so it is not true that booking directly with HAL gives you a better chance of an upsell.

Edited AGAIN to say.... I already posted in this thread, and I totally forgot. Sorry, senior moment. But that last post was a long time ago, LOL.

  3. We have cruised before but are new to HAL! Should we bring lanyards for our cards or will they be provided? Do most cruisers wear lanyards in HAL?

I've always used a lanyard, as do a large percentage of passengers. Very handy and saves fishing around for the room key to charge something or when going ashore etc. There are also some very fancy lanyards you can use. I don't wear it in the evenings when going to dinner though as I always have a little purse instead. My husband also has one but tends to keep his card in his pocket, or has the lanyard under his shirt. Oh, and I'm not a newbie, got many cruises under my belt.;)

  4. Me too! Love the theory, and appreciate the great advice about the wines! Thank you for meaningful posts that do adhere to guidelines [emoji3]

CC has been an invaluable resource to me over the years and I am constantly appalled by the numerous derailments. I just want to say thanks to the posters who are so willing to share their experiences to help others. That I sent why I am here.

Now I wish we had a like button.[emoji4]

  5. Joanie - Are you certain of this time (Noon)? I have called between 5-6 PM directly to Room Service and ordered from the main dining room menu without a problem (the only issue is that they do not deliver before about 6-6:30 PM).

There is no rule about calling before noon. You just have to order shortly after the MDR opens, say around 6 pm. No matter what level of cabin.

  6. I think airplanes are the more likely culprit. We use a nasal spray called “Halo” [emoji56] that I buy on Amazon. A woman on our NA Med cruise recommended it...seems to work.

Agree about the planes. I have had cruise crud several times, and since this thread began I gave it some serious thought. I also keep a journal so was able to go back and check. End result - of the cruise where NO flights were involved (quite a few from my home port), no cruise crud at all. Where we had to fly to port, got it several times. In spite of the fact that I clean everything with clorox wipes.

  7. For the life of me buu I can't understand what you are trying to say, but I can't say that I care. I don't embellish on what I see. For the most part I'd believe most posters on CC over videos on YouTube. I've only cruised once on carnival about 10 years ago. I wouldn't be able to tell you what goes on dress wise on that line even if I watched a YouTube video :').

I totally agree, but sadly it just opened yet another long-winded response. I prefer to go by my own experience together with that of other long-time HAL cruisers such as yourself and trust that newbies learn to recognise the advice they can trust.

  8. Well there is certainly a huge difference between being religious/ having faith and being very public and demonstrable about that faith. I would assume that you are in the latter. We happen to be in the former and see no need to publicize it constantly-or at all for that matter. Faith to us is a very private matter. Alas, we do not have guns to cling on to.

I agree, but I also believe that Christianity is in what you practice, day by day, not necessarily in what you preach. I don't get those that profess to be devout Christians whilst being plain mean and nasty to others, as is often evidenced in certain communities.

As to priests onboard, I know that many, if not most, of the crew are practicing Catholic, so I imagine that's why there is usually a priest at all times.

Now I am off to google Taize.....:o

  9. Last month I pre-paid for 4 people in the Tamarind on the N.A.. On my bill the next day I got a 50% refund for all four of us (other couple was 1 star, I am 4.)
This is how it is done, quite simply. They do not check the mariner level of your guests! Nothing complicated.

  10. Glad to see it wasn't just me having trouble on the HAL site today. It wanted my Mariner number, but when I put it in it wouldn't take it. Oh well, no hurry for me to do what I was planning on doing. Will just have to wait until fixed.

No, not just you. It's been totally unreliable for the past couple of days. I finally was able to make a completed PG reservation after many attempts yesterday.

  11. One more question... does anyone know what the small fee is to have access to WiFi in the Neptune Lounge?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I've never heard of that. Yes, there is wifi in the lounge, and there is even a computer you can use at the back table. But you log on with your own account and use your own minutes..... I had no idea there was a reduced fee in the NL. I last cruise in a Neptune in April, so maybe there has been a change since then that someone else can enlighten us on.

  12. I agree, I hope the OP found the needed info.

As to the rest of your post, I find that ignoring those people who feel the need for self-puffery is best. Lack of attention is like lack of food -- they will starve and move away.

What a delicious term! And yes to the ignore feature, I may have to add to my list. I just hate to see newbies given misleading information or have their question totally sidetracked.

  13. The OP must be thrilled they asked the question!

    Let’s play nice, peeps...[emoji56]

Hopefully the OP has been able to pick out the information they needed. On all internet forums there are those who just about live on their computer and feel the need to derail any thread, and/or to promote their self-importance.

  14. Hi Lizzie,

If people have a drinks package no wonder they don't use the honor bar!!

Did you see many people use the Neptune Lounge?

I just wonder if it is a lot smaller that the Haven Club on the Epic.

Thanks for all earlier replies too.

    Deeko

Hi. People come and go through the NL, I don't think anyone stays long. Personally, I don't find it that inviting, but the coffee machine is great, and there are little appies and snacks at all times. The main purpose of the visit is usually to talk to the concierges. I usually am there when it opens in the mornings after using the gym or doing my laps to grab a drink and yogurt, and sit and watch the TV for a short time, and people come in, get coffee and danish and head back to their cabin with it.

I have no idea what the Haven Club is like, so I can't compare. Oh, and I have never had a drinks package either, LOL.
