Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I'm having trouble finding an answer to this question. I can find plenty of information on taking a friend's/family member's child on a cruise but this is different. We are cruising with friends and might like to take their 17 year old on a shore excursion with us, while his parents stay on board. (Holland America). We might also want to let our 16 year old daughter go on an excursion with them. Can they just get off the ship as long as an adult is present and is with them? In the past we have sometimes been asked if our daughter is with us when getting off the ship, but no proof required. This last cruise (maybe because she's older), no one even questioned us, but of course we share the same last name so they might have just assumed it was OK. Any experience with this? Thanks!
  2. One last question: how has the Wi-Fi been on the ship, especially on sea days? My teenager is taking a summer online course that she may need to work on while we’re on board. She won’t need any live streaming, but will need to download reading (hopefully have the computer read it aloud) and take tests. Thanks for any insight.
  3. Ah OK thanks! I thought they still had one dining room set aside for traditional dining only. Hope you have a great time, despite the challenges!
  4. Is the DaVinci dining room available for dining anytime on this cruise? Or is it for traditional early/late dining? We would like to dine there if the vibration is less intense than the other dining rooms. Also, are some restaurants still closed this week?
  5. If anyone on this sailing could be so kind as to check the vibration on the emerald deck (8) aft. We have booked cabins E730 and E728. We are rather distraught with the itinerary changes, as we are bringing family members who are first time cruisers and have never been to Alaska, but we are under 30 days so our hands are tied at this point. I am at least hoping the vibration isn’t too bad back there, so they are not totally put off of cruising forever. We really wanted these cabins, and originally booked them back before the pandemic and have rebooked twice now, as I’m sure have many of you. Anyway, any reports about vibration back there would be greatly appreciated. If it’s really bad we might consider switching cabins.
  6. Unfortunately it looks like not a lot of inside passage, according to this route I’ve been watching on cruisemapper. I know they’re skipping Ketchikan, but I was still hoping for a little more inside passage before cutting out to sea. We sail June 18th.
  7. Would really love to hear from anyone sailing tomorrow to know if your itinerary has had any last minute changes. Probably too busy packing/traveling today. Have a great cruise either way!
