  1. I agree it is NOT a major issue. I believe it is the fault of your ta. Have you called them? and hopefully in the future, you will print out all important correspondence regarding purchases so you can show them proof of purchase. Also, the way you are worked up here, I can imagine how you acted at the customer service desk. Or how you would react when you really have a MAJOR issue.

You are on vacation on a cruise - try to relax and not let things bother you so much..

We don't know what happened at the customer service desk, so we can't say he was treated negatively and they have lost thousands. I have several good friends that work customer service and you wouldn't believe some of the stores. People come up and start yelling and demanding obc, etc.

  2. thanks for taking the time to write a review.

any idea who the main bartenders are in Crooners.

Sorry to hear there was a wait in the MDR. Were they checking cruise cards to make sure everyone was assigned to anytime dining? They have been having a terrible time with Traditional dining people going to anytime. On our Baltic cruise, they were turning many Traditional people away, especially on port days.

  3. Indeed, but that has nothing to do with the original question.

has more to do with it than a heck of a lot of other post questions

Cruise Raider gave an excellent description of this promotion. all cabins in each category are priced the same. But they can"t do that in suites because prices might be $500, $1000, $2000 or more as you go up the suite categories . There is no way they would price a vista suite the same as the grand suite.

    It is an odd promotion.

  4. I really hate early excursions. I book cruises to relax and when we do have an early excursion, I worry about being late to the meeting point so there is no way I want to eat a leisurely breakfast at Sabitini's. Much faster to order something from room service or even run through the buffet or stop at the International. We don"t eat much for breakfast so it isn't that big of a deal. I also don't want to drink very much - never know where a bathroom is.

  5. From this list I assume the Sapphire Princess has been sailing in circles for months without a Captain? I can't understand why Princess doesn't post this info on their own website. Ir would only take 5 minutes once a week to keep it updated. Why do they consider it secret?

I wonder if Todd McBain is the captain. I haven't seen his name mentioned for ages and he is still sailing.

  6. Don't forget even though full suite passengers can have breakfast in the club class section of the DR the better option is the mimosa breakfast in Sabatini's or other venues on some ships.

Not sure why you are calling it mimosa breakfast. You can have a mimosa there but I have never heard it called that and we have been staying in suites for 15 years.

On our last three cruises we went to breakfast in Sabitini's and was very disappointed. Usually the staff is fantastic and they work so well together but not lately. We decided to switch to the club class section instead and every meal, the staff was outstanding. We laughed and joked through every meal. There might be a time where we want to do Sabatini's so I hope they don't eliminate breakfast there. They seem to be taking so many of our perks lately - who knows what will be next.

  7. I prepaid for either the super or prime shuttle several years ago. our flight was delayed several times so we were several hours late. no shuttle at the stop. I called and was told he would be there shortly. We waited over an hour and stopped several of the shuttles - none of them were ours. About two hours later, one driver said our guy went home. He said he was on his way home and even though our hotel was out of his way, he would take us.

No way will I prebook a shuttle again.

  8. Just returned from a cruise with a cousin that works at corporate. We had dinner several times with the some of the ship's officers. Somehow the discussion got to adding a new level above elite. They said there has been much talk lately about changing the entire system. Loyalty would be according to the total amount spent on the cruise. They even laughed and said "all those elites that stay in insides and don't spend an extra penny won't be happy". They feel it is the fairest way.

And I agree. Why shouldn't those who spend the most get the most loyalty perks?

And laundry also came up, along with the people who buy one drink package and get drinks in different bars, but what really got them going was the people who take the tips off. And it sounded like there are a lot. I can't see how people can screw over these hard working staff members.

  9. We always take tons of first aid stuff. Extra pills of all kinds. I wouldn't doubt if it wasn't at least 10 pounds. We usually go to the med center and have never used anything other than a bandaid so we talked and decided those bags are staying home next time.

We take but never use markers - never have taken magnets - saw a cabin where they had more junk on the walls. Looked so tacky.

now, we always have duct tape and haven't needed it for years but have given it to others so we will continue bring it.

  10. I always take my tux and I also have a white dinner jacket which I wish I would have bought along on our last b2b cruise. Europe. My wife loves to wear her gowns. But just once I would like to try traveling with just one suitcase. I find fewer people dress up in the Caribbean and more in Europe.

  11. Just returned from a cruise and my cousin was on board. He is an officer and we had dinner many times with him along with other officers. One night "elite" was mentioned. Oh my goodness. I had to laugh. There were so many jokes about the elites who only do insides, never spending a cent on anything, taking tips off and about them doing the most complaining. also wanting their OBC's in cash. I heard a couple new ones too. Laundry came up along with adding an upper level and they did not think that would happen. What has been talked about at corporate is changing it completely and doing the loyalty level by the "total amount spent". They think that is the fairest way. Why shouldn't people who spend the most be rewarded the most? There are people who only do Princess excursions and they shell out a lot of money. We normally only book suites so I could easily have spent four times as much getting to elite as someone in an inside or someone doing half the cruises as short ones. I am all for it. I think it would be a great idea.

And I also have seen people bring dirty clothes down to other cabins. Abuse!!! Just like the suite lounge on the Royal and Regal. Many times I walked past a certain cabin where someone was knocking on the door and they said "can I get your key to get in the lounge". I could go on and on - people with the drink package going to different bars to get free drinks for their friends.

  12. No, it will definitely not work on your card if only your wife signed up with her card. You need to login to your own AMEX account. If you don't have one, then register your card and create a login. Everyone with a card can have their own login and add their own AMEX Offers. The offer only applies to the specific card it's added to.

thanks. i will register it tonight

  13. Thanks so much for the hint about using 1 account with cards in husband's name and in wife's name. Just loaded offer to 2 more cards...Delta and SPG after giving each one in husband's name own online acct log in

still not sure if I understand this. my wife clicked on the offer so she will try to buy some obc's soon. can I just try buying some on mine or do I need to sign up for the offer. right now, she gets all the emails, etc through her number. question:

so, do I need to do something with my AMEX number? or does it work on my card from her signing up?

    thanks

  14. I have two future cruises booked. One is still 9 months out and the other is over a year away. If I pay $500 on each one and then end up canceling one, will I be credited the $500? I usually pay a week before final payment is due but getting a $100 credit for a $500 purchase is worth paying early.

I read the fine print on the offer and it says one offer per card but I got the impression some of you received the credit on multiple payments on the same cruise.

    thanks

  15. When I signed in to my Amex account the past several months, and looked through all the offers, it never showed up. However, once I went to the above link & signed in, I was able to add the offer. Now, when I sign in, it's there, even though it never showed up anywhere but in the above link.

WOW, it worked. It seems like the same log in page that I normally use.

But, it says book now. I have two cruises that I just made final payment on. Can I still get them applied, especially the one from last week or should I just buy some OBC?

    thanks

  16. YES ! Mine was AMEX Platinum.

I purchased 500 OBC from the website/personalizer, after loading the offer on my card.

I had already paid for the cruise, the month before, so I had to do it that way. Worked out well for me.

    Steve

    thanks for posting

they email me offers every two weeks or so and never have seen this offer. did you still get the $300 suite obc? Last time I looked up the perks, it was still there along with the inedible canapes but noticed the free specialty restaurant not listed.

  17. Thanks for the suggestion to make a reservation for the train. We did that on one trip from London a couple years ago.

Thanks for the hello to mum but, sadly she is not with us. She was stationed in England for two years. Sent over to set up hospitals in preparation for DDay. Her first stop was LaHarve and she lived at a chateau outside of Paris for a while.

  18. thanks for the fast replies.

    luv2cruiseoften,

have you thought about renting a car? that is what I am thinking about doing. We plan to stay five days and it would give us freedom to change plans around a little. I need to research a central location to stay. I don't want to pack up every night.

So if anyone has suggestions for a small inn or hotel outside of Paris. I would think Paris would be more expensive and not sure how traffic is.

I will start checking car rentals and hopefully there is one close to port that will allow us to drop off the car at the airport or one close with a shuttle.

    thanks for any help.
