  1. One of our bags never arrived at our cabin. Dropped off five bags when we boarded the ship. I was referred to property claims at Princess. I did ask for a letter stating the bag was lost and what they did to find it. I called princess and the rep said she would send the info to the property claims rep. Two months later I called this rep back and she was surprised that we had never heard anything. So, after three months, I did received a call and the woman offered $300. I said my wife had two formals in the bag plus many other items. She said that she needed an itemized list with all the receipts and I said my wife saves every receipt so I think it would take a little while but we would send all the information to her. It added up to just under $1000. I emailed everything to her. That was three months ago. About three weeks ago I called the original rep back and said I was wondering what the delay was and she checked and said the email was delivered. A hour later the property claims gal called and said she received my email and was looking at it. That is all she said.

I have a feeling they are not going to pay the entire amount so I will need to send it to the insurance company but I don't want to wait too long (it has been over 6 months) and I am sure they will want to know if I received anything from Princess.

How long has it taken others to receive any payment?

Thanks so much for any help.

  2. I don't drink coffee and have the package on our upcoming cruise. My wife will grab a cup of coffee on our way off the ship but I would prefer a can of coke. Can you get cans of soda under the drink package?

It also would be nice to have a can or so in our cabin in the morning for my caffeine so I don't have to run to a bar for a coke. Do they allow you to bring some to your cabin or is it fountain soda?

    thanks

  3. I don't see the big deal of eating lunch in the MDR the first day. It is just like a port day - it should not be open. We board early afternoon after we have had lunch at our hotel's restaurant. Hate crowds and like to just walk on board after the rush is gone. I feel sorry for the poor crew - give some of them one meal that they don't have to work so hard.

I honestly think some people just don't want to shell out the money for lunch. I know they say that day is the first day of their cruise and they paid for lunch so they want to eat it on the ship.

    Just my opinion.

  4. The nightly canapes are nothing special. We have not been able to get chocolate covered strawberries on our last three cruises. They are no longer listed on the selection sheet. the other ones are the same ones they have had for the past 15 years or so. bacon wrapped bread sticks are soggy when they arrive . Order one night before you invite your friend.

I would suggest you go up to the buffet and get a plate or two of snacks and bring them back to your cabin. Or just order some that you will have to pay for.

One of the AMEX PLATINUM perks was changed to a large plate of those canapes delivered on the first day. YUCK - two plates of them. We have stopped ordering them since the strawberries have gone away. They were our favorite.

You will get a small amount of nuts the first day also as a suite perk. Half the time they are also stale.

We also have started bring along our own snakes to have with cocktails on the balcony before dinner. Mixed nuts, etc. Much easier than running to the buffet.

    Enjoy your suite

  5. breakfast use to be good the last morning but the past three years, we have found something wrong every order - they have not gotten the order incorrect, items are missing and it has come cold. Decided we will just run up to the buffet from now on.

We have dinner in our cabin many times over a cruise. What we do is first order an appetizer - have it on the balcony with a glass of wine. After they deliver that, we order soup, then main course and finally dessert unless it is a cake or something that isn't frozen. We prefer this way but it ends up costing $$$ in tips. When we have had the grand suite, we usually invite two or three other couples down and enjoy dinner in our cabin - now that does rack up the tips but it is worth it to us. Many of our friends will jump up and take care of the tip which we appreciate very much.

  6. I never understood why she said "we can change the itinerary once we get underway". That is just asking for trouble. She planned the itinerary. It is what it is.

No, my friend never said that. I have joined tours where the organizer has said that and I was just saying that it is different if the tour was posted saying we can change things once we get on the bus.

BUt my friend posted exactly where she had planned to go.

  7. Wow, what a response. That is all but the English teacher that doesn't like the way I write.

Just an update. Had dinner with my friend last night. I think she was on the right track not wanting the new person on her tour. Another roll call member sent her an email and told her to stay far away from this person. She went on to say this person is a control freak and managed to talk to the driver behind everyone's back and told him they all wanted to go to a different site than was first arranged on the tour they shared. No one knew the countryside and did not realize it until they arrived at the location. They were all very unhappy with this individual and no apology was offered.

My friend planned this tour to go to sites she wanted to see and then she offered spots for others to join her if they wanted to go to those same locations. So, she doesn't want the hassle of the new person trying to change things - I don't blame her. And she offered the two spots to other people and not the new person. It's a different story when you say "we can change the itinerary once we get underway"

  8. We ran into a person at Vines one night that we first met while at Total Wines. He said he had a couple boxes of wine and was called down to the naughty room and they took it away. He said they said he could have it back at the end of the cruise. Never saw him after that.

  9. The aloha corner side suites have 617 ft and wrap around balcony per the deck plan descriptions and what I was told when calling.

The aloha suite description does not mention wrap around balcony, neither does the deck plan show a wrap balcony - it does say 617 sq ft. The Lido deck plan shows those corner suites as wrap around but they are not. I had the Lido one booked ever since they were announced and every time I talk to a Princess rep, none of them know anything about them being wrap balconies. The one I talked to last week said the Island was going into dry dock soon and cabins would be added. Can't believe the false information that they are passing on. I am not believing anything until I talk to someone that actually has stayed in them. BUt from the photos posted several weeks after dry dock, it still was hard to tell. Several people posted that they were 90% sure it did not wrap and a friend took pictures and visited the suite and told me it has a side balcony and an aft one but you have to go through the bedroom to get to the side balcony - not for me. Now I wish I would have asked him to look at the Aloha one but from the last pictures, it certainly looks like it wraps.

  10. I've seen the first photo but the next ones seem to show more than other pictures that have been posted. I have inside pictures of the Lido corner suites but haven't seen any of the Aloha ones. I don't understand why they didn't put one of the sliding doors aft. I love looking back so now I will have to go out the side door and run back around the corner. Odd layout. It also looks like the two aft facing suites have a wider balcony than what their cabin actually is - that's what it appears like. At least the Aloha corners have a portion that is covered on the side. Those two middle suites have no cover - love the size of their balconies but not sure if I would want them.

    Thanks for posting the pictures.

  11. Seems to me, if your friend is going to organize tours he/she should be willing to do some kind of waiting list. The "old" member has a point...it isn't fair.

As she said, she works full time but is fortunate to be able to cruise often. She has enough on her plate and likes to explore and share her tours with others but has no time to deal with extra paper work. She has stayed away from the roll call for a week now because she doesn't want to respond to this person. I have someone on one of my upcoming cruises that I was on several excursions with on a former cruise and she drove everyone nuts. My friends agreed that we wouldn't go on another tour if we know she is on it. She is kind of doing the same thing on one of my cruises.

My friend also said this new person sounds very demanding and pushy. she is also afraid she may end up taking over once the tour starts. Several are tours where the route will be decided once they get in the van.

  12. Was discussing this with friends last weekend. I don't get real involved in roll calls and haven't signed in lately but my friend organized a number or excursions on their lengthy upcoming cruise. She said a new member signed in (new to cc) and in the first post said they were interested in any excursions available. There were a couple cruise cancellations the next week and when my friend posted that there were openings, this new person sent her an email within 10 minutes asking to be put on them. Same went for other excursions. So here is my question:

Do you think new rc members should be able to sign up before members that have been on for over a year?? My friend received an upsetting email from one of the original first month members saying she had asked about joining months earlier. Friend does not like to keep waiting lists - says she is not a travel agent and doesn't want to deal with keeping lists. The note stated this "new" member has not added any information to the rc, just took advantage of good deals on tours. This person wants her to bump the "new" member and give them the spots. My friend doesn't want to post - is afraid of backlash. In every case, this new person posted within a half hour of the tours becoming available - does he live on the roll call page? Or have a buzzer that goes off with a new post??

    Thanks

    Any comments??

  13. I also have found that service is getting slower in Sabitini's. I have seen less staff working compared to years ago. On port intense cruises, we don't bother going and I know many others don't so that is why it looks dead inside and then people think it should should be opened to others. On sea days, it is very busy especially the last hour. People sleep in and come later and then the great staff has no time to talk and have fun with us.

The best perk use to be the unlimited internet but as everyone knows, it is gone. I feel some internet should be given. When I paid $3500 a week in the OS on the Royal, I swore at them many times for not giving us some.

I am seriously thinking of checking out a few other lines.

Just like the bar set up for elites - one per cabin - that's bs. Each person earned it and each one should receive it. We drink wine most of the time and we do manage to drink it up or offer it friends when they stop by but it is just irritating.
