  1. This was my first cruise on RCI and I was not let down. I enjoyed the layout of the ship and it never felt crowded.

We bought the drink package and enjoyed not worrying about our bill at the end of the week. I felt that the bar service was fine. I know that this a big topic but I always got a drink. Even at the pool there were always people coming around even though i would go to the bar to get a drink. I felt that I broke even with the package but DW didn't.

Food was good but comparable to Carnival. Waiting staff was great in MDR. Did not do any speciality dinning.

Ports were great. They were the main reason we picked this cruise. Never been to Jamaica or Grand Cayman. We did one tour in Jamaica it was the Jamaica culinary tour. It was a great walking tour and we ate at restaurants we would have never discovered.

I felt the shows before dinner were the best part of the cruise. Really enjoyed Once Upon A Time and the ice show.

I was a little disappointed in what was available for us to do after 9:30. We had late dining and didn't find much that interested us. I would say that would be my only complaint.

Fire time - We were on deck 12 at around 9:00 AM when the smoke started. Within a few minutes smoke really started pouring out. DW and I went to the room to grab our passports not knowing what was really going on. As we got in the room the alarm went off. We went to our muster station where we were taken care of very well. Captain gave us updates every little bit. I do not fill that Captain Ron could have handled the situation any better than he did.

Overall had a great cruise and would cruise RCI again if the price is right.

Let me know if you have any questions!

  2. About to go on my first RC cruise but had a couple questions. If I get the select drink packages hitch has beer and wine but it also comes with coke and juices.

Can I only get a coke at the freestyle machine ? Which I think is in the WJ or can I get a can of coke?

Same for the juice. If I eat breakfast at the WJ where do I get an OJ at?

  3. I have never sailed RC before and was wondering which time I should pick. On carnival I have always done late dinning but it also has worked for us to see shows and go to the comedy. I also like having the same wait staff every night. I don't think I would like to eat early as we like to take advantage of the sunshine.

Which would you prefer and why?

  4. I saw if you buy the RC drink package you can use it on your stop in Labadee. I was wondering how this has worked for ppl. Are there many bars? Are they near the beach? This might be my deciding factor if I should by the package or not. With only two days at sea I was wondering if I would get my money's worth.

My plan is to just hang out on the beach this day unless there is some we really need to do!!!

    How is the roller coaster?

  5. I booked the freedom for July 19 sailing and my TA told me that dinning times were not available. TA called RC and they told her that dinning times were full and did not even have a waiting list. We both found this hard to believe with planning so far in advance. We ended up with my time dinning which I have never done.

My TA did tell me i could made reservations 60 days out.

What time should I make them to see the shows? We normally do late dinning on Carnival.

Also we have never ate at a speciality restaurant. Is it worth the money? If so when should we make those reservations? Do we cancel normal reservations to make the in a speciality restaurant?

I also have never sailed RC. I was just wounding if any one else has encountered this?

    Cheers

  7. We will be sailing the Freedom on our first RC cruise coming up this summer. We have sailed carnival 5 times but looking for a little change. We will be doing the Western Caribbean which will have three new ports to us. I would love to hear about any tips, hints, or secrets that are just with the freedom. Any thing from check in, ports, or even what to try at dinner. This is our first RC cruise and I want to make the best of it. Thought if I started this now I would have some great information by this summer.

    Cheers

  8. It was a great room. We booked it two years ago for our honeymoon out of San Juan. The balcony was wonderful and was huge. We were blown away at the size and included lounge chairs which we laid out on. The people above you could look down and see about half of your balcony. Overall great room and most important it was great balcony.
