  1. Alfredo's is in Sabatini's . It's open for lunch on most days for a few hours . I think it's a sit down pizza restaurant . Free. But the pizza out on deck is so good i don't know why they need another pizza venue !

Evidently you didn't try the pizza in Sabatini's at lunch. Individual specialty pizzas cooked to order. Much much better than the pizza available on deck. It's my favorite lunch option on the ship.

  2. We had breakfast in Sabatini's every morning except debarkation. I'm not sure if it's available that day.

Sabatini's is not available for breakfast on debarkation day but room service is available only to suites that morning.

  3. thanks, Tyskie.

I did speak with Princess and it looks like we are leaning toward the Grand...the International Cafe's close proximity to the Casino is a real factor.. too much smoke and noise.

I've spent 18 days on the Coral within the last year. Not once have I smelled a wisp of smoke anywhere near the International Cafe.

  4. I have further questions since my family and I have a 5:45 dining time on our cruise in 2 weeks on the Coral Princess.

What happens if you do not want to each at your reserved time on a particular night? Let's say you are in port and want to eat somewhere else. Do you just cancel your reservation? Someone from Princess told me that if you don't use your reserved time twice you more or less lose your spot. Does that sound accurate, even if you give them advance notice?

Also, how do you find out what nights are the formal nights?

    Many thanks!

The formal nights are on the evenings of sea days. If you are northbound the formal nights are the evening of the first full day at sea and the evening of the day in Glacier Bay. As far as losing your dining spot I am not sure but I doubt that it would be an issue since the Alaska itinerary has such late stays in most of the ports.

  5. Well you will be in luck when it comes to "long days" since you will be there June 17. Sunlight that is! We were doing laps in bright sunshine on the promenade deck of Island Princess at 11PM on June 16, the night we arrived at Whittier on our June 10, 2013 northbound cruise. We did the June 17 southbound as well so nothing to do but explore Whittier that day.

Yeah, according to sunrise/sunset tables, sunset on the 17th is 11:41 pm and sunrise at 4:21 am, with just twilight in between.

  6. It's Princess fault because you neglected to make the choice that you wanted?

    Mike:)

No I never said it was Princess's fault. I simply said that since same-day service is available as one of the options then it should be the default option automatically for suites. Suites have priority on just about everything else on the ship so suite laundry should be a same-day priority as well. There shouldn't have to be an option to select. But in my original reply I was trying to let the OP know that there are 2 options and to be sure to select the right one.

  7. Actually the laundry form has two choices:

    1) PRESTO-same day service, in by 900 back by 500pm

    2) NEXT DAY-laundry returned the next evening.

There is no charge for either when occupying a suite.

    Mike:)

Yes this is exactly what I stated. My complaint to Princess was that since both options are available with no charge for suites, the default option should be Presto same day, as long as it is turned in by 9 am. I neglected to check Presto once and was expecting the items back that day (yes, turned in by 9). It left me with only shorts to wear that evening and I missed formal night because of it, thus my complaint. Missed formal night simply because I didn't check a box.

  8. Was on the Coral in November for the 11-day Panama Canal Partial in suite C704. Sabatini's was great for breakfast. Practically anything you want and cooked to order. Also, we were there early most mornings and usually had the place to ourselves. A few mornings there was one other couple.

As far as embarking we went to the suite/elite line and went right to the counter with no waiting.

I think there were more outlets than would be in a smaller cabin. Still not enough though it seemed.

When you use the laundry there are 2 options to select from on the form. 1-day and 2-day. Be sure to check 1-day. If you don't the default is 2-day service. I complained to Princess that since 1-day and 2-day service are both available with no charge for suites the default option should be 1-day service.

In the minibar the liquor can be exchanged for any other type of liquor. Same with the beer, any other available type of beer as far as I know. The non-alcoholic drinks can be exchanged for any other non-alcoholic drinks. I'm not a scotch drinker so I only exchanged the scotch for more gin. If you don't want any of the liquor minis I'm not sure what you could get for them. Maybe someone else will know.

  9. We were in Suite C704 on the Coral in November. I feel slighted...none of the crew called or stopped by to introduce themselves other than our cabin steward. Seriously though, we also enjoyed the suite amenities.

One note on the laundry service... There is the option at the top of the form to select same day service. As long as your cabin steward has your laundry by 9 am it will be back by about 5 pm and there's no charge for the faster service. I neglected to check that box once when I sent out the laundry and it took 2 days. I complained to Princess that since same-day and 2-day service are both available to suite passengers with no charge the default should automatically be same-day service.

  10. Just a note. Check your bill prior to the last evening. Glad we do this as our OBC (from Princess and a gift that trip) didn't show. We were told the gift credit would show first. When I checked (No lines yet) it had been missed. They took care of it and we had no final bill :) (well 3 bucks).

Not sure if all the ships have the machine in the atrium to let you do your own or just go to the desk.

The Coral has 2 of these kiosks near the passenger service desk.

  11. Is there a way to determine what games they will be showing on Muts or in the sports bar? We are doing B2B over Christmas and NewYears and are hopeing to see the our team on the cruise .

Last month on the Coral the only games shown at MUTS were the Sunday night, Monday night and Thursday night games. 2 Sunday afternoon games were available on TV in the stateroom.

  12. How many formal nights will there be on our 11-day Panama Canal partial transit cruise? And... other than the normal 1st sea day night, what other night(s) will usually be formal? We will be on the Island Princess departing on Jan 9th.

Just off this itinerary on the Coral last month. Formals were the first sea day and then 7 days later, the sea day after Limon.

  13. did you notice if the laundry rooms on coral still use quarters or have they gone to tokens like some other ships

Just off the Coral last week. Stayed in suite C704 so we had free laundry service but I did go in the laundry a couple times during the first few days to iron some shirts. There was a machine set up that I took a moment to look at to give you tokens from swiping your cruise card.

  14. Perhaps you can find out why Princess is changing the length of these 11 day cruises to 10 next year.

    Thanks

It can easily be done in 10 days. Just off the Coral last week from this same itinerary. The leg from Aruba to Cartagena was done at a leisurely 12 kts or so (according to my GPS), much slower than the rest of the cruise. It's only about 380 nautical miles and the 11-day itinerary gives them about 35-36 hrs to cover that distance. If you look at the 10-day and 11-day schedules you will see that on the 10-day you have a shorter stay in Aruba and leave in the early afternoon and travel overnight to Cartagena, eliminating that sea day.

If Princess makes up 1 day every 10 times they run this itinerary, then they can schedule a whole other cruise. That's probably why.

  15. Agree that the length of the cruise and time of year play a huge part. Not many younger couples, especially ones with kids, can afford, or be away from work long enough, for a 10-12 day cruise. Also, not many couples would take the kids away from school that long during the school year, especially during this time frame when they will already be out next week for Thanksgiving.

Just got off the Coral on Thursday from the 11-day Panama Canal partial transit. I didn't see a single kid the whole time on board, though my wife said she did see 2 kids with a couple.

  16. Once home, the Princess customer service representative could not locate this cruise credit either, nor could a supervisor, and NO ONE REALLY SEEMED TO CARE! When we told the supervisor that we would write to the corporate office, her only reply was that it wouldn't matter because SHE would be the one to read the letter.

Forget the supervisor. Go over her head:

  17. We are booked in C704 on the Coral next month for the Panama Canal partial. From what I have seen here on CC the balcony is only partially covered. I know there is a link someplace to a website that has all the covered/partially-covered balcony info on the Coral/Island but I don't have the link handy. Maybe someone else will chime in with it.

  18. I also have ordered twice online, once Aug 30 and again on Sept 21. Called Princess on Oct 5 and they put the order in for me again. I complained that they send out a confirmation email promising the items within 7 days. The rep claimed that the email says they will arrive in 7 days or when they are available, but that is NOT what the email states and told him so. He didn't seem very interested in what I had to say.

    Still nothing so far.
