  1. We did not track calories while on vacation. We had already lost what weight we wanted to and both of us just watched what we ate. We had been weight watching for about 8 months so kinds knew what we could do. We had dessert every day, sometimes twice. We ate what we wanted to and when we returned home after nearly a 2 week vacation we had not gained a single pound. We walked a lot and took the stairs every time we left the cabin. Enjoy your cruise and wear that FitBit.

  2. We sailed on the Dawn in September for the New England/Canada cruise. There was not a single item for that cruise. Everything was for the Bermuda cruise. Also I have always bought a magnet and ornament from every cruise ship I've been on. The Dawn did not have ANY I'd either. I was so disappointed that I wrote customer service when I returned. The lady that answered me apologized and she found me a Christmas ornament for the Dawn and sent it to me free of charge. She could not find a magnet. She forwarded my message to the ships store supplier to let them know. The ornament is not nearly as nice as past ones I have bought from other ships. Hopefully they will correct this problem.

  3. Yes. Buy a cheapo watch! My DH's charge did not keep up with the correct time. In fact it was days after we returned home before it ever corrected itself. I have the Flex that does not have the watch feature but we both ended up with watches because our iPhones were not even reliable at times. Enjoy your cruise.

  4. I would make sure your cabin is between to passengers decks. We prefer midship deck 9. For our cruise on the Dawn last month I booked a balcony, midship, deck nine. The prices dropped a lot so we ended up with a mini suite on deck 11, 11606. It was quiet, but we had a much older crowd than you will encounter on the Caribbean cruise. Nice cabin, roomier than regular balcony cabin. I would not pay extra but it was a nice upgrade. ImageUploadedByForums1444938913.834256.jpg.e58fd849fa0e19dc90547cdc1d0e129e.jpg

  5. Oh, let me add. If you book an excursion in Bar Harbor on the return trip don't book an early one. You have to go through immigration and it's hectic. We had a 8:15 meet time for ours so we had to get up at 6:15 to have to to get ready and eat before standing in line for immigration. If you have an early excursion you do get to go first but it makes for an early wake up.

  6. I can answer a few question for you but not all.

    1. NCL offers a lot of excursions! If you are doing the round trip you will have about 9 ports. We only did the Quebec to Boston part of it and we had 5 ports. I think there are 4 or 5 from Boston to Quebec.

    2. There are some excursions I would NOT recommend if you have mobility issues. Several of ours were walking on cobblestone and uneven walkways. Are they worth the investment? Maybe. We take the ship sponsored excursions 99% of the time. One of our buses broke down and we were late getting back to the ship. We didn't worry because we knew they would wait. One of the excursions was a huge disappointment because we hardly had time to get off the bus before we had to get back on!

    3. Can't help with this.

    4. We took our luggage to our hotel and dropped it off and then we took off on our own walking the Freedom Trail. Our hotel was at the end of the trail so we walked all the way to Bunker Hill ( the beginning) and then walked back. It is a lot of walking!! We stayed at the Boston Park Plaza. The hotel is an old historic hotel. It gets great reviews and horrible reviews. Our experience was good. Nice big room overlooking the street. It's not cheap, but cheaper than other hotels. Be careful booking hotels using discount sites. You get what you pay for.

90% of the passengers on our cruise were well into their 70's. We were the minority in our early 60's so expect slow moving people with walkers, scooters, wheelchair's etc. this especially makes a difference when getting off busses at excursions.

Enjoy your cruise. We enjoyed the ports but completely missed the leaf changing season. We were about 2 weeks early.

  7. We had to do this on our Dawn cruise a few weeks ago. If people would listen and obey what they were saying it wouldn't be too bad. We had a 8:15 meet time for our excursion. We got up at 6:15 that morning to make sure we had plenty of time. People that had an early excursion meet time were assigned an early immigration time. Once immigration was on board and got set up it all went quickly. We were on the first tender into Bar Harbor. We had people trying to cut in line and we all just sent them to the end of the line!

  8. When we had to go through immigration coming into Bar Harbor from Saint John it was a mess! We had a 8:15 meet time for an excursion in Bar Harbor. We had to get up that morning at 6:15 to get ready, eat and get through immigration in time for our excursion meeting time. Nobody listens to instructions so people were trying to break in the excursion lines they had arranged. They looked at our passport and we got a red sticker! With the early excursion we were actually the first tender from the ship. It's just not well organized.

  9. We are back and here are my totals:

    Day one: 15,165

    Day two: 12,390

Day three: 6358 ( sea day)

    Day four: 8964

    Day five: 11,120

    Day six: 10,608

    Day seven: 8521

Day eight: 25,982 ( Boston walking the Freedom Trail)

A total of almost 60 miles walked!

  10. I do the same. I park far away and I also take the "long way" whenever I have time. It is amazing how fast you can rack up those extra steps that way! I try to get in at least my 10,000 steps a day. On the ship it seems to be easy, but I still make a point to use the treadmill and keep moving.

I have lost 107 pounds over the past 13 months and the FitBit Zip along with tracking calories on My Fitness Pal have been the tools I have been using. It has changed my life. On the ship I do not plan to track calories, just make wise choices. But do plan to still wear my FitBit every day to make sure I don't get lazy!

Lol. Thanks for the step count. That's a lot of steps and a lot of burned calories. Congrats on the weight loss too. Us Fitbit wearers are obsessed with it. I walked around Lowe's last night just to get my final steps in! We also use My Fitness Pal to track calories. We don't plan on tracking calories on the cruise but we are both so use to watching what we eat now that I don't think we will over indulge on anything. I've lost 20 pounds which isn't a lot for most people but when you are under 5 foot tall it makes a huge difference. I'm glad to see so many people on here using this little gadget! Keep up the good work! I'll report back when we return!

  11. I have the flex and it doesn't bother my wrist but DH has the HR and he gets a rash. He did find putting a piece of tape on the band where it was rubbing has kept his arm from breaking out. We are anxious to see how much we walk on the cruise. I average 7000 daily and we know we will be doing a LOT of walking.

  12. I'm really late to this thread but I'm glad I found this info. Both of us wear our Fitbit daily and was wondering how it would work on our cruise coming up in a few days. I have mine set to auto sync but will change that to manually sync. I wonder how much data it actually uses when it syncs? I'm coincide ring getting the AT&T passport package for this cruise. I'm notorious for using all my data on trips. Again I'm glad I found this thread.

  13. We will be the Dawn in 13 days for the Quebec to Boston cruise. Quite a few people have reported "toilet troubles" on the Dawn. Did y'all notice any issues? What deck were you on? We are on the 11th deck so I'm hoping all the problems are below us! Glad you had a great cruise.
