  1. Many people fly into FLL for Miami cruises. If you didn't book the air yet maybe you could look into that. I fly into FLL for MIA cruises all the time myself and use http://www.ridesas.com to get to Miami cruise terminal or a hotel in Miami.

Thanks for providing this link, Bill - it really helps a lot. :D

To keep costs down, I'm thinking of spending the night at a FLL airport hotel, then taking SAS to POM in the AM. Good idea? What time should we plan to take the shuttle? I'd like to keep costs down as there are the four of us.

Seeing as you've done it so many times, what would you suggest (and maybe a couple of favourite hotels?) This will be our first cruise.

  2. We were booked on the Freedom in April and was really disappointed when they switched to the Conquest. Now that a week has gone by and we've thought about it, and I read that Carnival seemed to be trying to accommodate, I decided to call.

I was told our choices were to cancel and get a full refund, or switch to another (same number of nights) cruise for the same price. We decided to go for the Breeze out out of Miami for the same price in the same category. I'm super happy about the new ship and all the amenities for kids! It will be a hassle getting the four of us to POM as it would have been easier (cheaper) to fly into FLL, but I'm excited about the Breeze, and I'll wrap my head around the hassle of getting there.

Just wanted to add my experience to this growing list. :D

  3. Welcome Pinkmagnolia! If everything works out and this cruise is still on, you should chime in on the Roll Call I set up. So far, I'm the only one on there and it's quite lonely! :)

I'll be praying for good news tomorrow morning!

Sounds good thomfam - will do! :)

I have a feeling they will announce their May 2015 and beyond schedule (and probably leaving from Galviston) - I have a hard time believing they would mess up a whole bunch of guests' vacations like that?

  4. I just asked JH on his FB page about this and his response was:

I really cant say at the moment but by mid May all your questions will be answered Heather. Please bare with me until then and I wish you the most wonderful cruise. cheers

I, too am freaking out. We are also booked on the April 26 cruise. This will be our FIRST cruise, and was super excited about Camp Ocean, 2.0 upgrades and Dr. Seuss being on the Freedom. The date, ship, ports and departure port are perfect for us. If this cruise changes, I feel like I'll have to start all this research again from the beginning :(

I'm feeling like it's going to be a long, long wait until mid-May until we know for sure.

  5. Thanks so much for your responses! After much back and forth between DH and I, I think we're going to do the Victory. It will be all of our first cruise, so I'm sure the novelty of exploring our first cruise ship will be super fun for everyone.

    Now... a couple more questions:

    1. How do I go about choosing our room? I'm interested in a balcony, so a midship balcony, as low as possible (which seems to be the Upper (6th floor) but is there a difference between rooms? DH is a pretty light sleeper and I've heard to not get a room under the dance floor :D so is there something I need to know about this area of the ship? I've seen the CC room reviews, but is there anything else I need to know?

    2. A question about the Early Saver. If *any* promotion comes up between now and then, I can apply it and get the cost reduced, right? Is there any catch? Promotions that wouldn't be included?

Thanks so much ... I want to do my research to make sure we all have a fabulous time - there is just so much to learn about cruising!!!

  6. Hi everyone! This is my first post :D

I'm in the planning stages of our first cruise. We are a family of four with twin DS10 and my head is spinning with trying to choose our cruise. We will be traveling in February 2015.

I like the Sunshine and Victory because they are both shorter (5 night) cruises and the dates work with our schedule.

The Sunshine stops at Nassau and Grand Turk - 2 full days at sea

The Victory stops at Nassau, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay - 1 full day at sea

    Victory is $400 cheaper

I know my boys would love the Funship 2.0 amenities, but I like the idea of HMC. None of us have EVER been to the Caribean  The Victory schedule seems to give us a better opportunity to visit lovely beaches (what we are looking for). Finally, I am a tad concerned as I easily get motion sick, so I'm thinking the extra port day might help if I'm feeling off.

Please help! is the Sunshine worth it for the updated ship and missing HMC?
