  1. I went on my first solo last year because I got tired of waiting for others to be able to go with me. I had the best time and met several other solo's. Everyone is so friendly. I had such a great time by myself that now I won't share my cabin with anyone. I have gone on 3 other cruises since then and have 2 more booked for this year.

I like joining the roll calls and so far have only traveled on Carnival because they have had the best deals. I intend to try some of the other lines solo. Maybe one that has solo cabins.

I have been on Princess and NCL when my DH was alive.

Just go for it! You won't know until you try it.

  2. The cruise I have booked for Dec. 6 on Carnival Splendor was also a casino rate. I can't explain why, since I do not spend a lot in the casino. I only play slots, and usually only about $20 at a time. If I lose it I quit. But besides giving me a good rate, they gave me $25 in casino cash.

Slots are the only thing I play as well. For some reason the balcony's they offered this time were only extended ones in prime locations. If I took a regular or obstructed one I'd have to pay a lot more!!! That's all right with me! So I was forced to have to take an extended cabin on the 7th or 8th deck of my choice. :D

  3. Agree these solo rates should not be posted unless available for everyone.

I did have one free cruise with Carnival last year but never get offered decent rates for Alaska.

I should have said that in my post. This was a deal offered under the VIFP. It's not offered under regular pricing. This deal showed up yesterday when I was checking under my VIFP.

I do gamble on board but also spend a lot on other things. The way I see it is, they give me the cruise for a great price or 'free' so I can then spend all the money I saved on the fare on board. In the end I'm spending just as much as if I have paid the full fair but having a lot of fun doing it. These cruises are usually last min and I have noticed that sometimes they only show up for a day or so as 24hr deals. My CCL personal planner sends me e-mails to alert me.

  4. I just booked a extended balcony, mid ship on the 7th floor of the Legend to Alaska inside passage for $620 with $100 OBC and got to pick my cabin! It's the 9-8-15 date, starts in Seattle and ends in Vancouver. It's under their OH5 offer. I just can't believe some of the offers I've had lately.

I had a choice of dates one in Aug also or I could have booked them all. They told me my limit was 100 cruises as long as I book before the end of the month and the sailings are by the end of Feb 2016.

I have noticed they keep adding different ones as others get filled so I think I'll look for another in a day or 2. I already have 2 weeks booked for Southern Caribbean Oct 31th in a balcony. Some of the fairs are starting as low as $38 for solo inside. I usually look for the ones that have a discounted balcony. The one I booked today was not in my offers until today and I couldn't go on the one offered in Aug. so when I saw this one I jumped on it.

It's great to be retired and able to take advantage of last min offers. There are a few perks to getting old!

  5. Well I just booked another CCL cruise for Alaska Sept 8th on the Legend. I got an extended Balcony mid ship, between other cabin floors for $620 + I get 100 OBC. I just could not pass that up. Had I taken an inside it would have only been $100 with $100 OBC. This is their OH5 offers. I even got to pick my own cabin!

Wow all that gambling I did on my last cruise with them is really paying off for me!

  6. What is the RCCL Single program? I have never gone solo before but I am tired of waiting for someone to cruise with me.

I booked my first solo cruise May of last year because I couldn't find anyone to go with me and LOVED IT! I had so much fun that I don't want to invite anyone now. I ended up going on 3 cruises last year, have been on one in May of this year and have just booked 2 weeks in Carnival Glory for Oct 31th sailing the southern Caribbean.

Carnival often has a great deals. After my first cruise they have sent me some great offers through their VIFP club. These last offers start as low as $25-100 and some are as long as 2 weeks. That's for an inside. I usually pay more to get a balcony but still get a great deal along with $100 onboard credit.

I haven't tried traveling on any of the other lines yet. I do want to do the South American around the horn and other places that Carnival doesn't travel to but I just couldn't resist the price of this cruise and I haven't been to any of the ports on this one.

I have noticed that NCL often offers a discounted price for solos. You have to do a mock booking to find the discounted price.

I have been on Princess and NCL when my Husband was alive. So far I have never had a bad or disappointing cruise!

  7. So far I haven't been disappointed with any of the solo cruises on Carnival. Before I book I read and review everything I can so I know what to expect. So far Carnival has had the best prices for me. I have been treated very well by all the staff. I'm good at meeting people from the time I get in the line.

  8. Just booked a Carnival Mexican Riviera May 9th 2015 cruise in a balcony for $396. and that includes the port, taxes and ins. Also got $100 on board credit. This will be my 4th solo cruise. I am thinking of asking my Aunt to go Since I did have to pay double. $120 per person for 7 nights! :D I really can'r complain when I have to pay double at that rate! I got this thru one of Carnivals casino promos. She lives in CA so I would be able to pick her up on my way to the port. I'll be driving from AZ.

I just love these promos that Carnival has. Last year I went on my first solo through Carnival and have been getting these really great deals every since. I went on 2 of the promos last summer. I am excited! :D

  9. I went on my first solo cruise, (widowed 4 years ago) in May and loved it. I had so much fun. I have booked 2 more cruises one in a week from now and one in Aug. After my August cruise I'm renting a car and driving from Baltimore to Niagara Falls for 4 nights and then on my way back to the Baltimore airport I'm staying in Hershey, PA. for a couple of nights so I can go do the Hershey stuff. All solo. I know I'll have a great time because I will be doing what I want when I want.

  10. I spend a lot on almost every cruise but I never get the good casino deals. I received one small discount on a cruise and was offered on 25 dollars in chips which they failed to give me on board saying I wasn't on the list. I've averaged losses between 300 and 600 dollars per cruise the last few cruises in the casino alone and yet I didn't get offered any good deals. So I'm not sure is that these casino deals are linked only to your playing the casino. I even tried to call the casino people to see if I could receive any special deals and they failed to even return my call.

    Hi!

I am surprised that you haven't gotten that offer. I spent around $1,100 total on board between everything. I was surprised to get that kind of offer. I was going to e-mail you tomorrow to see if you had gotten that deal. I was also surprised when I was told I could book 2 cruises. This offer was from June 9th -20th. I first found it in 'my offers'. It didn't extend to any of the Alaska cruises. The person I talked to mentioned something about another offer coming up the same as this in a couple of days so keep checking the 'Offers' everyday to see if you get it.

  11. What is the casino club deal? I assume it's tied to a onshore casino?

I got the offer thru carnival's VIFP club. I went on my first Carnival cruise last month and gambled a lot in the casino. Between the casino, drinks and shore excursions they must figure I spend enough. I got that cruise so cheap with no single supplement that I figured I could spend more, and I did!

The offer was limited to certain cruises in June, July and August. Most likely these are cruises they want to fill up.

I'm retired so I can go anytime I want. This worked out great because I was looking for another cruise to go on this summer and now I'm going on 2!

If you're a VIFP club member log on to their site and check your offers. They also sent me an e-mail about it.

They way I see it is if I get a really good deal then I usually spend more on board.

  12. I just booked 2 cruises thru carnival's casino club deals. Free for insides and only $5 a day extra to upgrade to ocean view and $10 a day for a balcony on certain cruises. I did have to pay double plus port and taxes. So I paid $223 total for a 4 day cruise and get $100 OBC for a great ocean view. There were not any more balcony's or I would have gone foe one. Imagination July 13th out of LA.

The second cruise I picked is on the Pride August 17th 7 days. I only paid $360 for a balcony that I got to pick and I get $100 OBC with that one as well.

  13. I will be on this cruise with you also! I ended up getting a single port hole for a great deal with OBC also. Carnival had sent me a flyer about the special IBC they were doing and I looked it up on the website. Maybe I will see you both onboard?:)

QUOTE=Jana60;42261394]I'll be there with you on the conquest for the 4th.. I booked earlier today but I wanted to choose my own balcony cabin so I had to pay $719 instead of $619. And I only got $75 onboard credit. I have the lowest price guarantee so if you know how I could get the 619 price and still get to choose my cabin I'd love to know!

Welcome aboard! Yes I'm sure we'll all be seeing each other on board. I'm planning to go to the meet and greet as well as the slot pull. I am so looking forward to this cruise.

  14. Hi, I'm new here and just booked my first solo cruise. Got a great deal on Carnival Conquest.

$619 for a balcony with no supplement! 7 days for May 4th. I got a $85 on board credit and upgrade as well. There are several cruises on Carnival with no supplements right now. Most are for last min cruises. I paid a little more for some extra perks due to the low price I could afford to!
