  1. We sailed on the NCL Getaway last summer. Beautiful ship. Buffet was better than Disney with tons of amazing offerings. O'Sheehans was one of our favorite alternatives for a fun meal and it was open 24 hours. Flamingo Grill was a great and quick alternative for breakfast and lunch.

I didn't care for the MDRs all that much. Other than that, I loved the casual atmosphere (no need to dress up, eat when you want) that goes with freestyle cruising.

  2. We are on the Glory March 22.....don't mind folks having fun but sure hope we don't have throwing up, passed out on deck cruisers....

That is the week of Spring Break for most schools in South Florida. Just FYI. I think most colleges have Spring Break in early March.

  3. I also wanted to comment on Grand Cayman. if you are going to do the Stingray sandbar, I would definitely book private.

You'll be in a huge group on a huge boat with carnival, and from what we witnessed, not have a very exciting experience once you get to the sandbar.

We used Moby Dick Tours, and had a wonderful experience. I know lots of people also recommend Capt. Marvin's, and Nativeways. The big difference is you are on a much smaller boat with a lot less people, and they feed the stingrays squid, so they actually come around and interact.

On our tour we had 15-20 people I would say, and 3 guides in the water with us interacting with the stingrays. So pretty much a guide for every 5-6 people. Since they fed the stingrays (and let us feed them), there were tons of rays, it felt like we were outnumbered by the stingrays at times. They were also happy to take group photos for us with our camera.

This is in contrast to a Carnival boat that was there at the same time as us that no less than 50-75 people piled out of with only 2 guides in the water, 1 of which was trying to take pictures that they later sell and not helping with the stingrays.

No feeding, not many stingrays around their area.

Not much in the way of quality interaction there. Most people were just standing around, and I'm not even sure they all got to hold one. People from there group. eventually tried to work their way into our area because they could see we had all the stingrays.

Also, we made our reservation well ahead of time but Moby Dick does not ask for any deposit, so if you miss the port, you are not out anything.

We also had a snorkel stop, which was very nice, and the bus would drop you off anywhere along seven mile beach on the way back if you preferred to go there instead of directly back to port.

And it was $45/adult and $35 child.

We're already booked to do it again in April.

I am so glad to hear this. I took the plunge and booked Moby Dick for out March cruise on the Breeze. Can't wait!!

  4. This is awesome! We just got off a Disney Cruise (hated it by the way) but we got the photo package of all prints for like $195.00 and walked away with 80, 8x10 photos and 35, 6x8's or some wacky size like that.

Hopefully they will have these packages on our Liberty cruise in April!

I would love to know why you hated it. Did you post a review? Which ship?

  5. I know that they were testing this app on certain ships. Does anybody have any further information? I would love to be able to text my family during to cruise. It would make it so much easier to find each other during the day.

I'm hoping it is similar to the NCL iConcierge app. We found it very convenient on the NCL Getaway.

  6. I just want to thank everybody for responding. The rep that I spoke to yesterday was amazingly helpful. She put us in 6448 and 6450 which is way aft, but we are okay with that. She was originally trying to give us the rooms right in front of the atrium, but I told her that wouldn't work for us.

My original rep called me this morning and apologized for the mix up. I guess those interior rooms are pretty uncommon on Carnival ships.

Either way, I'm glad that we caught this in time and were able to be moved fairly easily. I'm really impressed with Carnival's level of customer service which makes me look forward to this cruise even more.

Now, if there is a sale of some sort which can get us into connecting balcony rooms, I'm going to jump on that. For now, we will settle with being across the hall.

  7. Don't you feel at least a little bad calling your Carnival Rep an idiot now? Perhaps YOU should have checked the deck plan before making such comments.

No. I don't. I was looking at the deck plans through booking which didn't show the door to the interior. I was also trusting him - which is where I went wrong. I'm on the phone with them now and at first they insisted that both rooms opened to the same hallway. The rep had to stop and look at the deck plan on a different screen to see what I was talking about. They are trying to fix it now.

This is a different rep, BTW. I haven't heard from the original rep.

  8. ?? your inside cabin DOES open into the same hall as the balcony.

Only those middle cabins have their own hall

Are you 100% sure? Because when you look at the deck plans (not through booking but when doing the virtual ship tour) it looks like the door is in the interior hallway. I really hope you are right. My 9 year old will be very unhappy if he can't get to us without going down two hallways.

  9. We have an 8B on deck 6 and our kids (13 and 9) are booked in a 4E interior across the hall. Is the door directly across the hall?

If we purchase FTTF for our room, will our kids be included or do we have to buy it for their room as well?

If we wanted to switch to two connecting cove balconies, does anybody have input as to where we don't want to be because of the galley?

  10. "Anxiously waiting for more! I am loving your review!

We are actually debating going on the Breeze or DCL Dream. 6 nights on the Breeze compared to 3 on the Dream, I personally say Breeze but my family is leaning toward DCL. I am hoping your review can sway us all in one direction!

All the details you are providing is great! Thanks!!"

We did a four day on the Disney Dream. It was amazing but the cruise felt so short. We felt like we needed more time to really relax. On a three day cruise you don't even get a sea day so it is nearly impossible to really enjoy the ship. I would suggest doing the Breeze. We haven't been on it yet, but a longer cruise is always better, IMO.

Either way, you will definitely have fun.

  11. Don't know if it matters to you but NCL got rid of lobster tails in the MDR and buffet a few months ago. If you want lobster you'll have to pony up for a specialty restaurant now. Have fun. 9 days until my NCL Sun cruise!!

Not true. They have lobster tails in the buffet one night. Check your schedule for more information.

And start your cruise eating at O'Sheehans. It is on deck 7 right where you enter the ship. We loved it there. Good comfort food open 24 hours.

Getaway is a great ship. You'll have an amazing time.
