  1. We always order the water package either pre-order before the cruise or as soon as we get on the ship and it is delivered the same day. On our last cruise on the Bliss, we ordered from the Atrium Bar as soon as we arrived but hadn't received it that night and when we called guest services, they said it wouldn't be delivered until the next day. They managed to give us a couple of bottles at the bar but from now on we will always pre-order before the cruise. We have never seen a special during the cruise.

  2. We're sailing on the Bliss to Alaska on 6/30 and trying to find out when the casino will be open. We will have the drink card from CAS, so we're trying to determine if we will also need the drink package. The gratuities are so high now that I don't know if we are better off paying out of pocket for our drinks when we are not in the casino.

We are going on the Escape in 3 weeks, this is so sad to hear. Do you have any pictures of the menu? Did you get a chance to check out the specialty restaurants. I really would like to know if lamb chops are still in Moderno on the Escape so that we can decided if need to adjust our dining reservations.

Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures and the only specialty restaurants we ate at were Le Bistro and La Cucina so not sure about Moderno

  4. We just got off the Escape on Sunday and it seemed to us that the food in the MDR was a lesser quality than on previous cruises. The desserts are horrible!! One of the desserts ( I forgot what they called it, cherry something) in the Manhattan Room had Jell-O in it. I doesn't get much cheaper than that.

  5. We enjoyed La Cucina many times on the Breakaway. We've taken 2 cruises on the Escape since they started sailing out of NY and both times we were very disappointed in the food and the service. It's just not as well run as the one on the Breakaway.

  6. You will definitely get your fill of trivia on the Escape. They have trivia every day on the Escape. They do Sunrise trivia every morning at 9:30, I think. They also do other trivia later in the day. On our last cruise July 1-7 they did the following trivia. I lost the daily from day 2, so there were probably a couple more for that day.

    Tri-Bond Trivia

    Harry Potter Trivia

    4th of July Trivia

Video Wall Trivia - Lady Liberty

    Afternoon General Knowledge Trivia

Video Wall Trivia - Movie Posters

Video Wall Trivia - Star Wars Trivia

Video Wall Trivia - When They Were Young

Video Wall Trivia - Superheroes and Villains

On our previous cruise on the Escape in May, they did some of the ones above and also the ones below.

Video Wall Trivia - Beers of the World

Video Wall Trivia - Dog Breeds

Video Wall Trivia - Castles and Palaces

Video Wall Trivia = John Hughes Films

    Zac's 80's Video Games Trivia

    Movie Quote Trivia with Zac

Video Wall Trivia - Cartoon Characters

  7. 2 weeks ago (on the Escape) we tried to get on the 11:15 ferry and we were turned away because they had reached the limit. Ended up taking the high speed ferry from the dockyard at 11:30 and arrived just a few minutes later than the NCL ferry.

  8. We just came back from a cruise to Bermuda on Sunday. We used pubic transportation and it was really easy. We bought a 1 day pass and used it to get to the Aquarium and Hamilton. We tried to take the NCL ferry to St. George but it was full, so we took the high speed ferry that leaves from the Dockyard about 15 minutes later than the NCL ferry and when we arrived in St. George, people were still getting off the NCL ferry, so we didn't lose any time. Just follow the crowd and just after you start going uphill, you'll see a blue building and stairs. Go to the top of the stairs and this is where the busses leave from. I believe it was the number 11 bus that we took and there was a stop for the Crystal Caves before our stop for the Aquarium. When we were done, we took the number 7 (I think?) bus to Hamilton. It drops you at the bus station and you go right and down the hill and you'll see the ferry that take you back to the Dockyard. If you go to the information desk at the Dockyard to buy your tickets, there are a couple of people walking around that will help you with the bus numbers that you need to take. I may have the bus numbers mixed up so it's best to ask them and maybe for a bus schedule that you can take with you.

  9. We saw the show the first week in May and it cost a specialty dining credit and there was also an upcharge of $14.00. We just saw it again last Friday and they were only charging the dining credit. We are vegetarians so we chose the pasta w/marinara as our entrée and I thought there was an improvement in the taste of the food. Both times the show was fantastic!!!

  10. We sailed on the Escape on 4/29 and we couldn't find the hot dog carts. My husband loved the ones on the Breakaway!! We were hoping that they were missing because it was only the second week that the Escape had sailed from New York and that maybe they would be there on our October trip.

  11. We usually drive in and park at the pier. It's so easy to come off the ship and get into your car, but 2 weeks ago, for our Escape cruise to Bermuda, we took the train from Providence for the first time. We loved it!! I usually do all the driving and it can be a little stressful especially on the way back because I'm so tired from all the fun we had on vacation. Our daughter dropped us off at the station and helped us get on the train. The seats were comfortable and it was nice to be able to get up and walk around. When we arrived at Penn Station, we headed for the 7th Street exit and there was a cab line just outside. It took about 15 minutes to get to the pier and the cost was about $15.00 before the tip.

After our cruise, we headed to the cab line at the other side of the street and we were in a cab within 5 minutes. The cost for the taxi going back to Penn Station was around $10.00. While waiting for our train, we noticed people using the Red Cap Service, so we decided to give it a try. The porter loads up the luggage and takes you down to the track before the other passengers. He checked the cars and found one with seats up front and told us to go ahead and have a seat and he carried our bags on board and put them away for us. It was well worth the tip to not have to fight the crowd getting on the train. The best part was that I was able to enjoy the scenery and take a nap on the way home.
