  1. I am curious as to why you feel this way. Are you going to be on the same sailing as the OP? Will he/she be taking something away from you personally if the Concierge grants his request? Who is being hurt if the Concierge chooses to extend a courtesy to a loyal passenger?

    Hello!

I'm sure you have had a lot or response to your question... If I may put my 2 cents in?!?!

It's not the issue with taking advantage of what they are offering you. I believe peoples issue is that you want to take advantage of something that you are NOT YET eligible to receive.

That being said... My next cruise on Harmony my husband I and are staying in a GS. We are afforded Suite Class Perks such as the Suite Lounge and Barefoot Beach Cabana Club. If you were on the same cruise should you be allowed to take advantage of the perks I receive if you are not staying in a Suite?

I think not!! Just play by the rules use the CL when you ACTUALLY become D+. (Which is after your next cruise)

    Just Saying!

First Tobey thanks for your response... That being said I have quoted my original comments regarding this particular thread. The rules are in place for a reason. While I am not cruising with the OP, yes that is exactly what can happen if EVERYONE who was 1 cruise day away from gaining the next level.

Again I will defer to us cruising in a GS. Should you be afforded the same perks as myself if you are not in a Suite?

  2. We are going on the Rhapsody Dec. 31st for a 8 day cruise. We are Diamond and we need one more cruise day to be Diamond Plus. I know we are eligible to go to the Dia. Lounge but was wondering if after the one day onboard we would be able to go to the concierge lounge.

    Joe

Going to talk to concierge anyhow. 🙄

    Hello again!

Your second response is exactly why I sent my original! You clearly think/feel that the RULES are above you!

Why can't you simply just go by the rules. I know the old adage "You never know unless you ask" but it's folks like you who ruin it for everyone!

Go ahead and do what you would like (because you have already made your mind up), but I'm hoping the Concierge tells you ABSOLUTELY NOT!

  3. The last thing we need is a separate area for Harmony threads.

They should be on the regular RCI Board as they are now.

We can always type "harmony" into the search box and get all kinds of stuff.

We sail on Harmony in February and I read all of the threads related to the ship. I must admit, that I am hearing a lot of negative things here on the Serenade from people who have sailed on the Harmony.

Actually it is the first thing we need... Just like all the other Ships listed at the top of the page!

  4. Troykahack, what's wrong with status? I cruise because I love cruising but if something is offered why not take advantage of it. I also get a casino rate when I book. Should I turn that down also.

When you book a cruise if an onboard credit is offered do you turn it down?

  5. Hi,

dose anyone know please if these bungalows include an 'upgraded' lunch, or does it cost that much money just for the bungalow?

    thanks in advance

    Jean

Hi Jean! The Answer to your question is as follows from the Royal Site itself:

    Important Notes:

    • Pricing is per bungalow, not per person.

    • Transportation to and from Beach Bungalows is via Labadee tram or tender boat service to Nellies, with a short walk to Columbus Cove.

Complimentary buffet lunch available at Columbus Cove Café, Dragon’s Café or Café Labadee.

Rental of a Beach Bungalow does not include access to the Barefoot Beach Cabana Club

    • Avoid alcohol before water activities.

    • Guest must be 21 years old to consume alcohol.

    • Maximum eight guests per Beach Bungalow.

    • Guest should note this area is not private.

So that is what is included in the $250 price. That being said... Only Suite Guests or those invited by Suite Guests and have access to Barefoot Beach Cabana Club get an Upgraded Lunch.

    Hope that Helps!

  6. So I was looking at the website this morning to price out a cruise in a suite cabin on Harmony for the week of April 28, 2018 and it's already showing them as sold out. On other weeks it doesn't matter be show pricing for the star class cabins at all. Could they really be sold out already or could it just be a website glitch?

Hard to say if it's a website glitch, but it's not unusual for suites to sell out long in advance of the sailing date.

Well looking at another website that cruise is only at 17% capacity. That being said all of the Suites are currently unavailable. Perhaps RCCL simply hasn't released them for sale yet.

  7. Hello,

I constantly go into the Royal Caribbean boards to try and assist people with Empress questions, but I find it hard to find those who are asking about Empress unless it is at the very top, which means there is a good chance that it was already answered. Is there a way you guys could make an "Empress of the Seas" section in the "See Posts About" area to have all of the Empress stuff in one area to help cruisers out?

    Thank you :)

While you guys are at it... Lets Get Harmony & Oaisi IV up at the top as well... It's been waaaaayyyyyy toooooooo looooonnngggg since Harmony Launched for you not to have it up there.

  8. I am disappointed that the price for dinner has risen to $42. I can't afford close to $100 per couple to eat there. Very sad.

Our last cruise in February we bought the $70 3 specialty dining meals. We at at Chops twice.

What is the cost for the 3 specialty dining package?

I'm sorry if this seams a little harsh... But you mean to tell me/us that you can afford the cruise which on average is $1000-$3000, but you can't afford to pay $4-$7 more to eat at a Specialty Restaurant?????

Here's my suggestion for you then... Eat in The MDR, The Windjammer, Sorrento's, or many of the other Free Eateries.

    There is no Upcharge there!

  9. Hi, I'm new around here! My first post (Yay!) I've done 7 cruises before on Carnival and Norwegian, but this is my first attempt at cruising with Royal Caribbean. I'm looking at a cruise for August 26, 2017 and the travel agent is telling me all the inside cabins are already booked. She says the only inside cabin available is an wheelchair accessible cabin. Can this be true? Over 12 months out and already fully booked? Usually I have no trouble booking Carnival or Norwegian about 1 year ahead. Just to verify what she said, I tried to do a booking through the RCL website and I got the same result... only 1 inside cabin left.

Anyway, we are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and we don't have a disability so we don't need an accessible room. The agent says I can book the room anyway and if RCL needs the room for a disabled guest, they will move us into another room. Does anyone know if she is right? Also, can 4 guests fit in a V1 category accessible room? It looks like it only has a king bed. Will the cabin steward move in 2 rollaway cots every night?

Thanks for any insight you guys can provide.

    Good Morning!

I did a little checking on some of the other sites and you are correct however there are staterooms available in the category above which is Outside Staterooms. If I were you I would pay the slight difference and get a room that accommodates you all.

    Just my opinion

  10. Then you already know that they are all alike.

That is NOT True! There is a difference between L & R entry into the cabins which would make the configuration of the rooms different. Also If you don't have the pictures or answers to my question then I suggest not responding in the future.

  11. Thank you. Would you know what restaurants this covers on Harmony of the Seas?

*Specialty Dining Packages must be booked at least two days prior to boarding and may not be available for every sail date. One reservation must be used on the first or second night of the sailing. Package includes one visit in Wonderland. A $10 cover will be charged for each additional visit per person. Packages include service charge and food portion only for dinner and, when available, lunch service. Beverages not included. For venues with a la carte pricing, package includes a $30 food credit. Participating venues and cover charge prices vary by ship; additional charges may apply for food selections. Not available on holiday sailings. Not valid for premium experiences including Chef’s Table, wine pairings dinners, and Mystery Dinner Theater. ©2015 Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. This Should Apply to all Specialty Restaurants on Harmony.

  12. I'm not sure why this reply is necessary. What you're saying is a technicality really. I have asthma - smoke causes my asthma to flare. It's much easier to tell people that I'm allergic to smoke, because they understand that.

I'm not sure why people feel the need to correct someone when they say they are "allergic to smoke".

The reason I feel that it needed to be said is because people in general FAR TOO OFTEN use the excuse of an allergy when in fact they DO NOT actually have one!!

If you do not like something or can not be around it then don't be. But don't use the excuse that you "Have an Allergy" when in fact you simply don't want to be around smoke!

People who have actual Life Threatening Allergies will thank you for correcting your choice of words.

  13. That's fabulous for me! I wish that would happen to a few US Sailing ships! I am allergic to smoke (in addition to the standard it's bad for you situation!) and would love to enjoy some casino time at sea someday!!

I'm Sorry to hear that you can't enjoy Casino Time while Cruising. However I can say that you are NOT allergic to smoke as it is not an allergen. You may have a sensitivity to smoke as it is an irritant, but definitely not an allergy.

  14. With an eye on perspective, there are far worse things that can happen than missing an embarkation. That said...it's been 5 days since we attempted to board Oasis of the Seas and still a raw, exposed nerve sends waves of pain, anguish, and regret throughout my chest and down into my abdomen when the very suggestion of a cruise comes to mind.

My wife is taking it better than I am, at least these past few days. Her face wrought with tears and frustration as she attempted to distract our 20-month old daughter at the customs counter while I placed one phone call after another...not easy to forget.

We're first-time, would-be cruisers. Inexperience, poor time management, and some misfortune led us to this point: 25 min late for our 12:30-3:30pm check-in window. The ship leaves at 5:00pm.

Our shuttle driver made a valiant effort to get us there. Briefing us along the way, he warned clearing customs would be the biggest concern. Suitcase in hand, I scurried ahead of my wife and daughter to alert officers of our arrival.

To our relief, customs was quite accommodating and made quick work of our processing as they whisked us through security. As this was going on, a customs officer was radioing back and forth with someone on the Oasis. The already infrequent responses from the ship became even more tenuous.

Mere steps away from the stairs, a response came in through her ear piece that stopped her dead in her tracks. She looked at us and shook her head.

    So. Close.

Here's where I wish future me could have interceded.

"We have a toddler with us!"

"My daughter and I only have passport cards, which are insufficient to meet you downline in Nassau!"

Perhaps something would have softened the heart of the individual on the other end.

The time was 4:00p. A full hour before departure.

I spent the next 5 hours calling, booking, pleading. I even looked into taking a ferry to Freeport, then perhaps swimming to Nassau. Ultimately, flying was the only option and I was getting mixed answers on whether or not a US passport card was sufficient to fly to the Bahamas. I finally rented a car and drove down to Miami International in order to get a definitive "No".

All options exhausted, we decided to fly home to Dallas the following day.

    ...

Once home, I spoke with a very sympathetic soul on the RCCL escalations team who was surprised we weren't let on-board given an hour remained. She asked that I first check with our trip insurance (LeisureCare) to see if our situation is covered. It is not - trip delays need to be at least 12 hours. I'll call the escalation team back today, but I'm not holding out much hope. We can't afford to take another trip for a while.

For those who share a similar experience or know someone who has (particularly with RCCL)...any positive experiences getting back on a ship with nominal cost? Refunds? Any success reaching out to Mr. Bayley's office? Or am I just a dolt who needs to come to terms with the fact that I'm at-fault for not getting us there in time?

TL;DR - I went full-Griswold and caused us to miss our cruise. Any chance of full or partial credit towards another?

    -Chris

    Hi Chris!

I'm sorry to read about your situation. Reading through some of the comments I would like to offer some assistance & advice for you.

    1. Your "Passport Card" if not a PASSPORT per say. Its called a Global Entry card. Yes you may use this card to Cruise as long as it Originates and Ends in the US. You may also use the card to cross boarders into Canada & Mexico. It is always best to have the Passport/Passbook in the event that you have to fly in or out of another country. If your cruise had stopped in Porto Rico you would have had no problem being it is a US territory.

    2. Most likely you are going to loose what fair you paid, but I have had success in contacting Michael Bayley & executive levels of management. His direct e-mail is:

    mbayley@RCCL.com

Hopefully someone will reach out to you and offer some sort of compensation.

    3. Lastly another person wrote about getting on the ship late. The Fact of the matter is it is US Boarder & Customes Protection that states when the last passenger can embark the ship..

This cut of is strict and definitive. It's is exactly 60 minutes before the ship is to depart. RCCL has no say at that point as they are required to file a full passenger manifest.

I hope this helps! & I look forward to hearing the results!
