  1. Good choice, Geosand. We are big fans of Deck 3, and love the fare savings. The ship is so small it's easy to be out on deck. On our last voyage, in December 2015, we regretted that PG upgraded us to a Deck 6 balcony. Lots of noise from the showroom in the evenings.

  2. I confirmed with Alaska that they will send our bags straight through to Fiji (not all airlines do that) even though we have two separate reservations. Hooray! Also, Fiji Airways confirmed that we can check-in on line within 24 hours of departure and print out boarding passes, which means we bypass the check-in desk and an extra trip through Security, and head straight to the gate. Hooray! My only concern now is that a PG rep might be at check-in desk checking off passenger names. But we will be at the Fiji Airways departure gate. Any thoughts?

  3. We will be using the tunnel for our Fiji-Bali cruise next month. A question: We are flying into LAX on Alaska. Confident that Alaska will send our bags all the way to Fiji because of codeshare agreement with Fiji Airways.Since our air tickets are separate, I'm thinking that after we take the tunnel to TBIT, we will need to exit security and check in at Fiji Airways to get our boarding passes (and get our names checked off by the PG rep), and then have to go through security (ugh) before heading to gate. Does that sound right? Would love to be able to have boarding passes in hand as we get off the Alaska flight, but as I mentioned, two separate tickets.

  4. The flights to and from Bali will be a bit tricky. No non-stop flights to LA that I could find. Probably stopovers in Sydney or Hong Kong. I think Fiji Airways is the only nonstop between LA and Fiji. But...no pain, no gain. What a wonderful itinerary either way!

  5. Emdee, that's exactly what happened to us last December. It took extra time at the airport and getting through pier security so we didn't get to our rooms until after midnight. We were wiped. Not fun. Especially when you know many of the folks on the cruise had been aboard since afternoon. It all depends on where you want to spend your money. We had post-cruise plans so flew directly on ATN from LA to Tahiti. We absolutely love PG. Obviously, there's no such thing as a perfect cruise.
