So, if you want to go see the glass just to see it - fine. But, don't count on getting it on board. The person on NCL said that they have become very strict with shells, stones, and glass. I jut thought I'd post because I know people walk to this beach in the blazing sun along treacherous roads to collect glass..

That being said....do you think it was worth going? Do you have any pictures you can share? Is it a swimming beach? TIA!

  2. Some of the places have had pontoon boats. But they don't have many, seems like pontoon boats they might have only one to rent and the rest they rent are the smaller boats. You basically have to check all of them because availability changes. Boats get sent to the repair yard. You don't mention who you checked with. Places to check if you have not are Somerset Bridge Sports, H2O , KS Watersports and Fantasea.

Thanks! Looks like we'll be enjoying a pontoon boat! Somerset & H2O do not have them, but KS does.

Thanks again for your help! :)

  3. We rented a pontoon boat from Somerset Water Sports about four years ago. It would hold 7-8 people if they still have it available. Some of their boats were damaged when the last hurricane hit the island.

Thank you. I actually called them today and they said the largest boat they have "right now" is licensed for 6. I'm not going until mid Aug. If I don't find anything I'll try them again in July.

  4. Are there any boats to rent for 7 or 8 people that you can drive yourself? I checked with a couple places and their largest is licensed for 6 people. I don't want to rent 2 boats. Thanks in advance!

  5. Last year on the Getaway we were lucky enough to be seated on the first evening in an area serviced by an excellent waiter. We were so impressed that we requested, and received, his section throughout the remainder of the cruise. We took very good care of him at the conclusion of our trip.

Morale of the story.... if you encounter a waiter you are impressed with, don't be shy about requesting him on subsequent nights

You can also request them for breakfast and lunch. They might be in different sections, so remember their name!

  6. I was going to get the UBP, but the tip/service charge is $99.54 per person....so not really FREE. I normally only have 3 or 4 drinks per cruise. It sounded great until I did the math! I was told the excursion credit is $25 per person per port and cannot be combined and used towards 1 excursion. We are bringing 2 children, but the 3rd & 4th free perk is not available on my cruise. I'll be happy with the dining package!

  7. Where have you been ? :p

They instituted this cash grab last summer with a 2 week notice 4 weeks before our cruise . No soda ,no juice , no water , NOTHING ! No liquids may be brought on either on departure or after port stops .

I believe they said it was for our convenience .

I cruised on different lines the past couple years. Going on the Breakaway in August, so it's time to brush up on NCL rules. Thanks for the info!

  8. This is amazing! I've never heard of this before! We always have the room steward unload the mini bar, but never thought that they would put Iced Tea in it!

(Is it good iced tea or the flavored stuff out of the soda tap?)

This could be a game changer now that they won't let me bring my case of Dr. Pepper on board!

    Thanks!

Really?!?!? They don't allow a case of soda?
