  1. Make sure you make it down to Bayfront for some great food, shopping, and music. It's located close to the Port Of Miami and next door to the American Airlines Arena. Oh,,and one more thing,,please say hello to the One Bar bartender "Dayman" from Mike and Kim. He won't remember us probably, but just tell him the Zing Zang guy,,and he'll know exactly who you're talking about!!! Have a great trip,,looking forward to hearing all about it!!

    Hi Mike

I'll pass on your regards. Shopping and food sounds good.

We've not booked any excursions at the moment, but are planning to book a few, either through msc or private. Any suggestions, I'm a wee bit confused with everything thats on offer??

  3. JPR61, Have a fabulous journey. I wanted to share a little tale with you. Back in June, 2008, we were on a cruise that took us to Scotland. On one of the tours, we met Hugh G. Allison, author of Culloden Tales, Stories from Scotland's Most Famous Battlefield. I asked him if my mother's family, Hardy, could have come from Scotland and he said yes, from the Clan Chattan. He signed a copy of his book and I treasure it.

Safe travels! Will try to watch your sail away on the port cam.

    Mary Ann

Now it's my time to visit your country, and I'm sure I'll have a great time. I'll give you a wave when we sail away

  4. JPR61,,,The experience is everything everyone says it is and then some. Loved waking up in the morning and having our local newspaper hanging on the door handle in a little Yacht Club bag,,having our mini bar restocked,,2,,3,sometimes 4 times a day with our requested beverages. I wasn't allowed to bring my own Caffe Mochiatto to my stateroom,,a butler was waiting to carry it for me. Even after you disembark the ship,,all Yacht Club luggage is pulled off the baggage belts and set aside for you in a special area, and a porter is there to help you get through customs with it. These small details are why we love the Yacht Club so much,,besides the incredible food and service of course!!:D

Sound great Mike. As a good Scot, I'll see if I can keep up with the minibar being restocked.

Not long now - can't wait. Leaving on Thursday, staying in miami to recharge before we board :) :)

We are from London ,but have been living in Florida for the last 13 years

See you for drinks in the Lounge

    regards

    Paul & Dawn

Hi there. We're from central Scotland, near Stirling. We'd love to meet up in the lounge for a drink (you buying) ;) ;)

Have you signed up for the Roll Call for our sailing? Are you sailing for one week or 2. We're in cabin 15029, what about yourselves.

Not long now, see you soon.

    Jean & David

  6. Thanks, Mike. Not trying to hijack the questions here just didn't know if you were here today. Hope everyone has a great long weekend.

I will definitely have a great long weekend, in fact a great long 2 weeks in the (hopefully) lovely yacht club. I say hopefully as I've never sailed in the yatch club or MSC for that matter. You all make is sound so great, that I can't wait.

    I know we'll have a ball ;);)

  7. You will love this square cabin. We have stayed in 15031, next door, and will always try to book one of these cabins. Have a wonderful cruise, post thoughts/reviews, relax and let those wonderful butlers pamper and spoil you. Take care of that cabin as we will be in it in a couple of months. :)

So I've read on here, took a lot of persuading to get this cabin. They don't really book them out to only 2 people in the UK. I'll look after it for you. I'd love a picture of the cabin. But if I can't get one am sure it'll be a nice surprise :):)

  8. Bon Voyage JPR61,,,I want to hear all about your Yacht Club experience when you get back!!! I think you'll come back with the same conclusion as we did. Once you sail in the Yacht Club,,you'll never sail anywhere else on the ship!!! It will take just a one minute walk through the buffet area on deck 14 to come to this conclusion.

I took this pic just in front of the door to your stateroom,,,sorry the quality isn't so good,,I haven't figured out why my GoPro shoots such lousy indoor pictures,,everything outside looks good though:confused::confused:

    <a href=GOPR1954_zps0add7b41.jpg' alt='GOPR1954_

I'm sure we will. I've never written a review before and haven't a clue how to post a picture. But after all the information I've received on this site I'll definitely be posting one. Not sure it'll be up to the same standard as some on here, but I'll give it a go. Thanks for the pictures Mike, keep them coming :)

  9. Thanks for your great live review!! It looks like you had a wonderful time .

Next Saturday I will be sailing away on her sadly but I won't be on the yacht club. I'm sure it will be a great cruise even without the yacht club!

Will also be on the divina next Saturday - can't wait. We're in cabin 15029, one or the sqarer cabins in the YC I think

  10. I like a rusty nail, drambuie and whisky- perfect nightcap. First tried it on my last MSC cruise. Allegrissimo is a great way to try all the drinks.

Mike I have to thank you for giving us all this information especially that the MDR is open for lunch on boarding day. The week went by so quickly though.I board next Saturday.

Would love to sail with you one day also with Maureen the Nutella Queen. :D[/QUOT

Yes I've had a rusty nail once or twice - we don't have the drinks package. Didn't think it was worth it as most drinks are included in the yatch club. Although I don't think drambie is one of them -sadly :(

  11. Hi Mike

enjoying your daily updates. We are sailing a b2b on the Divina in the YC - cabin 15029 on the 6th. My husband and I like a Drambie as a nightcap. I don't think this is included in the YC, but could you please ask your friendly bartender just in case. We've purchased some vouchers as a stand by. Can't wait - so excited. :):)

  12. Can someone please verify this??? I was told if you order the vouchers via the website the $72 will show up on your onboard account but you will NOT be charged the extra 15%. The extra is only charged if you order the vouchers once you actually get on the ship.

    Trish

I'd like to know this too, we are sailing in the YC in just over 2 weeks. I've ordered some vouchers via the website. I thought you only paid the 15% if you bought them when you were on board. If anyone knows I'd be grateful.

  13. We had 15028, a square cabin, on Divina in March. We were two adults and an infant. The cabin and balcony are MUCH bigger than the other YC1's. We absolutely loved it so much we have the same cabin booked Sept. 20. But beware...once you have the yacht club, you will NEVER want to cruise any other way! Right, cruisergal?

Everyone keeps telling me this, so really looking forward to it. I called my TA today and asked if they could check again with MSC as I'd really like one of the squarer cabins too.

  14. All items sent to the laundry are ironed, and you have the choice of having them returned folded or in the case of items that can go on hangers you can have them on hangers if you prefer that to folding.

When we were on Divina in the med , in the YC, and there was an offer of 30 items for 25 euros, the items could be sent in small batches until you reached the total of 30. the service was available every day with the last load on the morning of the last but one full day , ie thursday morning if disembarkation was saturday.

items were listed on a form and placed in a bag for the butler to take away, often we had them back the same evening but always got them back by 17:00 the following day.

I guess the service will be similar in the caribbean

    Pete

Thanks for that, it's a big help

  15. Either the TA or MSC might be misinformed, or someone might even be deliberately misinforming people. Those cabins (15029 & 15031) show as available on a variety of online sites. MSC themselves don't show them available on their own website, but they just show the first 4 staterooms available in a category, so there's no way of telling on the MSC site if an individual stateroom is open or not.

So, either they are sold but MSC hasn't marked them to show out of inventory for the systems that connect to MSC (which would cause problems for the poor sucker who ends up booking that cabin on one of those sites). Or, they aren't sold and MSC and/or your TA are just being dumb about figuring that out. Or, they are available, but there's a deliberate decision by MSC to only make them available to the US market and not the UK market or not to B2B or something strange like that.

Here's a couple of screenshots from 5 minutes ago. I can't post a direct link to the site, but this was the online travel agency whose name kind of is a variation on the word "expedient".

And here's another from a German site that helps you "scan" the "sea". It shows a different set of cabins, but shows them both as available for the B2B. The key seem to be that the online sites won't show these unless you're booking 3+ people, but a good TA should be able to get around that by contacting MSC directly (assuming these are actually available).

Thanks. Did a pretend booking for 3 adults, and as you said, these cabins are coming up as available. Not too happy. As I said already did call my TA and asked, they in turn asked MSC who sent an email back (I have a copy) saying that they were not available. Wonder why that is. These cabins can be occupied by just 2 people I gather? ?

I think a call to the TA in the morning would be a good idea. If MSC are not willing to give this cabin to a TA not sure what else to do - any suggestions? ?

  16. With the laundry package they come back washed and ironed.tou also tell them by ticking the appropriate box on th laundry bag if you want your items back on a hanger or folded.

Note my experience is of using this service on several of 'sc ships but not on the Divina.

    Thanks, that's a great help :)

  17. The laundry packages are great and you don't need to send all 20 pieces at once. You can send several differnt loads and it is still the same proce as long as you don't exceed the 20 pieces. It's saved me a lot of money in the past when I was caught on the hop on a cruise with much colder and wetter weather than expected and not having enough of the right kind of clothes. Otherwise I'd have had to bought extra clothes which I really would not have needed.

    Hi AmoMondo

Been looking for someone who has used the laundry service. Can I ask, did the tshirt, shorts etc come back ironed, or do you need to request/pay for the separately.

  18. Yes, choices of wine they are offering each night, Proseco, sparkling or still water, coffees, teas, etc. They also have a sommelier helping with wines for a fee.

Regarding laundry, have you used the "search" feature on the MSC home page? That might help.

Yes tried that. It tells me the price in euros, we use pounds here, gather that it'll be dollars on the divina. But more importantly it doesn't say if shirt, shorts and the like are ironed. Hopefully someone will have used this service and get back to me.

  19. Both are the same size:

    Cabin 10027 & 10031 - Cabin = 169.1 sq ft (24.2 sq ft bathroom + 144.9 sq ft living space).

Both of these are the same in square footage:

Cabin 15022 & 15026 - Cabin Interior 233.9 sq ft (32.8 sq ft bathroom + 201.1 sq ft living space). Balcony is 61.4 sq ft. This cabin has a bathtub/shower combo.

Sorry, Skier52 for jumping in since they asked you. You will have to let them know if dimensions are different between the cabins because I only have the square footage.

    Bret

Thanks for the information. I asked skier52, as it seemed that they had a lot of info on cabin dimensions, but I'm happy to get this information from anyone who has it. As I said new to MSC and CC, loving all the information you get on here.
