Hello
The gare routière is indeed the bus station, not the train station. If you Google 'bus verts du Calvados' you will get the timetables for public transport for the whole region. But I don't think it will go as far ahead as 2017.
HTH:)

Sorry not to have a more positive response, but you are unlikely to find city centre rental agencies open on Sundays in France. Your best bet would be to see if the internationals - Hertz, Avis etc at Marseille airport are open on Sundays, and get a taxi there and back from the port.
Good luck!

Agree 100 % these tee.shirts are in the same category as door decorations.
Are there some lines where this kind of stuff - matching t-shirts, door decorations like a kindergarten display is more prevalent - that I would prefer to avoid? We're fairly new cruisers and have only sailed on Crystal
-
I wouldn't wear a "slogan" t-shirt if you paid me....
I heartily agree , why would you do this??

Would not want to argue with a Frenchman (Lutece)
Hank
But Hank, you're not..........I'm female:D
Yes you're quite right. It would take longer - the Viamichelin website always gives optimum times without any stops for coffee, comfort breaks, taking traffic into consideration and with a following wind!!

Where in Paris does your bike tour start?
I would think it highly unlikely you would make it in time, given that your departure from Le Havre (note spelling) leaves at 07.30. Even if it leaves right on time, the fastest time via the autoroute (and that may not be the route the bus takes) is 2 hours 24 minutes to central Paris. That only leaves you 6 minutes to get to wherever your bike tour leaves from, and that timing doesn't include any traffic holdups.
For calculating driving times in France, use Viamichelin.com - it's always accurate.
You might need a plan B :)

We were on a Cunard cruise and there were twins on board, about early 60's and they dressed TOTALLY alike. From fingernail polish, to belts, to shoes, to hats - everything every day. Frankly, we thought they looked ridiculous. It's cute when you are 7 or 8 or 9, but not very cute when you are older.
Quite agree - yes you will look silly, but if you don't care what others will be thinking.......................

I don't know where you were looking that quoted that price, but the official SNCF is showing tickets on the TGV ( high speed train) at €47.
Do not use Rail Europe - they are a booking agency and charge a booking fee. Also, don't put USA in as your country as I think you will be redirected to the Rail Europe site.
You can also book through Captain Train which won't charge a booking fee.

Why would you even ask this question? Not trying to be rude, but why?? I just don't understand. What has the date got to do with it??
-
Ah - just dawned on me you don't use Celsius in North America. :)

Eh, I will silently judge the crap out of anyone wearing white linen when it's 35 degrees outside. And very possibly someone wearing linen of any sort to a Thanksgiving dinner. I'm old fashioned and I have no problem with that. There are certain things I will or will not wear based on what I think is appropriate.
I don't answer questions like that here (since most travelers who post here are talking about Caribbean travel anyway, the white/linen issue is at least moot in regards to temps) But I do always caution people to think about climate and expectations when packing.
35 degrees???? I would die of heat exhaustion if I wore anything other than white cotton or linen in those temperatures:eek:

It's fine to wear Summer (bright white) pants anywhere after Easter and before Labor Day. :D
It's fine in Europe to wear white pants at any time of the year! As I said in my previous post, nobody other than North Americans is aware of this rule. I presume the pasengers on the ship the poster will be on will be of many nationalities and won't know if they're committing a (US) faux pas!:)

hello
This question has been asked many times. Until I started reading on Cruise Critic I was totally unaware of the antiquated American rule of 'no white after Labour Day' White is a summery colour, so wear it in June by all means. I am still wearing my white linen trousers well into October if it's warm enough. Whether I wear them is ONLY decided by temperature and occasion, not some 'rule'!:)
And Labour Day ( Jour de Travail) is in May!!

Most businesses in France - other than restaurants and cafés - close on Sundays, so it's unlikely that any other one would be open. Also, not sure if it would be a self-service one. It may be that you drop your laundry off and pick it up later.
I've found their contact details, perhaps you could e-mail them to ask what their hours are?

Yes there is a self-service laundry at the address mentioned above, but it is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

All, I'm a late 50's plus size woman. Looking for ideas for travel to Europe. I don't want to scream "American" while I'm over there. Any ideas would help. Thanks!
However else you dress, don't wear a baseball cap - ever!!!:)

I think the point is that either side can feel the situation is scary somewhere else based on what they hear in the media -- but the reality is often something quite different. Whether in the US or Europe or elsewhere.
Thank you cruisemom - that is precisely what I meant. It's all about perception. If I believed the media reports and statistics regarding gun deaths in the US, I'd never visit.
-
Should we Europeans not visit Ohio?????
-
Sorry - should have made myself clear. I did mean as foot passengers of course!:)
Actually driving should be fine as they will be on (for them ) the right side - literally - of the road!
-
For goodness sake!! Do you think those of us who live here have stopped going to work, school, church, avoid public transport and are hiding in reinforced cellars???
No, no more than the residents of Boston, San Bernardino and all the other places in the US where random attacks have taken place!
And those wouldn't put me off visiting America.

Why not take the ferry to Caen, pick up a hire car, and amble down through France and Spain? You have almost 3 weeks to do it and you would get a different perspective from port stops in either country.
And before anyone jumps in saying how eye-wateringly expensive a cross border one way drop-off can be, it's very simple. You all check into a hotel in Hendaye - the French side of the border, drop your car off at the Avis depot there. Then take the local train - 4 minutes/ approx 10 euros or taxi 7 minutes approx 16 euros to Donostia/San Sebastian Airport - the Spanish side -and pick up your car from there. Then drive back to your hotel. There is no problem/cost involved in DRIVING either side of the border.
Or if you don't want to stay overnight in Hendaye, just leave the rest of your party people-watching in a café while you collect the car and then drive on to stay in San Sebastian - my second favourite European city.

Overseas friends of ours have used
'Feel Like Home in Paris' for apartment rentals. They are excellent and have apartments in 'real' areas of Paris - mostly Montmartre, by which I mean they are in a regular neighbourhood with shops, small supermarkets and children going to school. Makes you really feel like a visitor, not a tourist.
Google their website for more info.

I would be nervous to go to Europe at this time. That is just my personal opinion. You would definitely be in tourist locations' date=' so you would have to go knowing there is some risk. I don't think I would be comfortable at this time.[/quote']
First of all - WHERE in Europe? Europe isn't just one country.
And by the same token - should I cancel a holiday to tourist areas in California in the wake of the gun attack in Washington DC?
Just saying
What to do in Brest?
in France Ports
Posted
Foe me the best attraction in Brest is Oceanopolis - a fantastic 'museum' of all things marine. Well worth an entire day.But if you go to the website of the Office de Tourisme Brest, you will find many suggestions for things to do. It's in French, but click the UK flag icon at the top right to get the English version
