  1. Never worked at all for us. Precruise I had to do everything by phone and email. Their tech help were pleasant but no help with access. Email enquiries were answered quickly and well. Recommend u join or start roll call. We shared useful info in run up to cruise start date.

Would Saga be a company I'd chose for myself

    good morning Sarasailing

we disembarked from SoA on Saturday 5 Feb after our first Saga cruise, and are asking ourselves a similar question.  We ve logged about 100 days previously with other lines.  we chose Saga this time (a) because we thought they would do covid security the best (yes, they did) and (b) to find out if  Saga is right for us.

I will post a review in a few days when we have reflected.  In the mean time, have a great time and we hope you all see the northern lights.

  3. Info I got today: we were given pcr  tests at same time as lft yesterday before check in . I m told that once results of those are reported to saga on Tuesday, if all are clear more freedoms wl be possible on this cruise.

So far all going well. Can’t imagine Linda how u ve had time to do all those photos 💕!

I have a pickup time of 0705!! Coming from Teesside.  I will be beyond miffed if my driver proves positive after such a drive and I'm refused boarding!! We're in a Covid hotspot now and I've locked myself down until the 20th.

oh ! it had not even occurred to me that driver could pose the problem.  beyond miffed would not even cover it.  agree, we are now in isolation until 20th to try to ensure we can board.  see you soon N Neice.

  5. yes Discovery was in bay visible from our bedroom window , ie in Lyme Bay but departed 6 pm ish. There were approx 12 other ships also sheltering in Lyme Bay/Torbay so maybe made a lot of sense to wait out the gale.  I have no doubt @ann141 that it will be rough in biscay on 21st January; personally I have never NoT been seasick  in biscay, including on ferries. See you soon those going on Adventure on 20th!

  6. Here in the UK, as far as we personally are concerned, we cannot wait to be offered the vaccine.  We know we are in the 4th tranche of priority so probably will be the new year.  And I would be saying to the cruise company on booking that we would not go until and unless we had ourselves had the vaccine, so although European cruising looks to be starting in March (eg Fred Olsen), I m not going to try to book anything until we at least have a vaccine date.

Many of you may know that here on the south Devon coast we usually have at least 3 cruise ships at anchor while they 'rest'.  Its a combination of happy memories and sadness to look out in the morning and see the cabin on Arcadia where we spent 51 happy nights travelling back from NZ. I will try and post some photos of Lyme Bay (someone local has put up a Facebook page with photos 'cruise ships in Lyme Bay').

  7. Hi Scottish maid

yes, the crew on Fred are mainly from Philipines where Fred has their own training academy.  I m impressed that they give Philipino crew opportunities for management etc.  It usually seems happy and crew stay a long time, on my birthday cruise in Jan 2019 we found some crew we had first met in 2012.

I am delighted that Fred is acquiring these new ships, they seem just right.  We love smaller ships and have always enjoyed Fred.
