  1. Oh I wish it was the Haven, but no - it’s a regular aft balcony. I am afraid they don’t hand out Haven upgrades for 150€ pp.
  2. You can only bid on the general category. I had bids on regular balcony, club balcony, spa balcony and club spa balcony – my bid for the first one was accepted!
  3. If the Bird endorses the room I am sure it will be great! Thank you!
  4. 🍾🥳 Just got the upgrade confirmation for our 12 day cruise on the Epic (starting in Trieste) on Friday. I had booked an inside cabin super cheap in April with 200€ off from a promo. Now we are in an aft balcony on deck 13 for 150€ more per person. Never been in an aft balcony before, I hope we‘ll love it.
  5. I was on the Gem 3 weeks ago and we did NOT embark / disembark right at the city pier. it was changed to Ormeggio 57 south of city center. NCL informed us of the change a couple of days before, but not that they would have a shuttle bus running from the “normal” pier to the new one. So we took the city bus and walked the last few hundred meters. We got there right on time for the 9am slot marked on our cruise docs … but were told that the guards wouldn’t let us pass the gates until 10. We stood there for an hour, more and more people arriving by taxi, being told that they couldn’t go further. There were around 20 of us when finally someone from the port came, saw the situation and called a shuttle bus to take us for the last few meters. After that checkin was a breeze and I have never been on a ship earlier than this - I think we were up on the pool deck at 10:50! If your pier is changed to Ormeggio 57, I would recommend walking to the city pier (route posted by ziggyuk) and taking the NCL shuttle bus. Or a taxi if you have an arrival slot after 10 am.
  6. We sail this Sunday on the Gem and I just got the confirmation that we got the upgrade from our inside cabin to a balcony cabin for the minimum bid, which was 130€ per person. 🍾🥂
  7. Hi there! I haven’t been on a cruise with NCL since autumn 2019, but had several great cruises before then. I am a picky eater, so I am always worried that I’ll find something I like … but I never had a problem on any NCL ship. We sometimes had a dining package and enjoyed Cagney’s (steakhouse) and Teppanyaki. In the main dining rooms we absolutely love the salmon tartare appetizer, but every fish, shrimp, chicken or vegetarian dish I had was nice as well. We didn’t really visit the buffet too much, but O’Sheehans (the pub) does nice fish & chips. It has become our first stop on every ship, starting the cruise with that as our first meal. The Getaway was our first NCL ship and we loved it. You will have a great time!
