  1. Thoughts...

    • "aggressive" depends on where one is from. Urban travelers will be used to them. Rural travelers may be in for a shock.

I grew up in one of the largest cities in the United States. I've visited most of the others numerous times. My wife has traveled the world. I stand by what I said. The panhandlers in Seattle are some of the most aggressive I've ever encountered. She has concurred.

  2. Whats a "panhandler"?

A panhandler is someone who asks for spare change, etc. Oftentimes homeless, the ones in Seattle are some of the most aggressive I've ever experienced. They're not typically dangerous, but they can be very persistent and sometimes seem to be dense in population.

  3. My family lives in the Greater Seattle Metro and we've stayed many places in the area. My favorite, by far, was The Maxwell. It's just north of Seattle Center in Queen Anne and a short walk to the Monorail to get downtown. It is a short Uber ride to the port on departure day.

  4. I know it's a completely different direction in food and drink from a pub with beer, but when in FLL I find every possible reason to go to the Mai Kai on North Federal in Oakland Park for amazing tiki drinks, good food and the most incredible, immersive old school tiki experience you'll ever have today. Happy hour has good drink and pupu prices as well, with 50% off most pupus and drinks from 5-7.

It's not necessarily cheap, and it's about 12 miles from your hotel, but for the experience it's well worth it to me. Uber X will run about $20, give or take, each way, from your hotel.

    Just my $.02.

  5. When we were escorted off of the Dream from Concierge last November we went to the front of the line at the escalators. Then we were handed off to a DCL officer, who escorted us down to where we picked up a porter. The porter and officer took us to the front of the customs line. It appears that this was an anomaly.

  6. DH and I have been talking, and we've decided to open our own cruise line that will be geared toward geeks like ourselves. All the shopping venues will be overhauled to sell useful items, such as comic books, animation cels, and action figures. Instead of formal nights, there will be cosplay nights with various themes. The crew will all don Star Trek uniforms, with the exception of security who will wear superhero costumes. And speed will be reported in terms of warp units rather than knots. Also, there will be a Mos Eisley cantina and a Restaurant at the End of the Universe that serves steak.

We're all in. Will there be storage for armor bins we bring for costume nights?

We've actually been fretting over how we're going to fit our clone and AT AT driver armor into our stateroom on the Fantasy next year...

  7. Charlotte is a notoriously expensive place to fly from.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I know I'm off topic, but this made me laugh. I fly to Key West regularly from Knoxville, TN. Once, and only once, did I fly USAir through Charlotte. It was $150 cheaper to fly from Knoxville to Charlotte to Key West than it was to fly on the exact same flight from Charlotte to Key West. Thanks for the validation of my suspicions. :D

  8. When you purchase alcohol in port, no matter the quantity, you can take it straight through security and to your stateroom and consume onboard, while other cruise lines will require you to check your alcohol purchases, and they hold it until the final evening of the cruise.

Correct. And they don't even care if that alcohol came from The Forbidden Island.

  9. IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

THAT ALCOHOL THAT DISNEY ALLOWS YOU TO BRING ONBOARD AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CRUISE......THEY ASK THAT YOU DRINK IT IN YOUR OWN STATEROOM ONLY.

So, they're letting you bring it, but when you're out and about, they still want you to pay for drinks at the bar.

This is the precise reason that I brought two hip flasks with me on our last DCL Fantasy cruise. I always had at least one in my pocket that was either full or on the way to being emptied.
