I used Tuscany bus in July last year (family of 4) and they were no problem, very relaxing. We walked up to the Vatican took a few photos then found a taxi rank and from memory it was 10 euros to get to the colloseum and 10 minutes. All went well for us with no worries about if we would have a seat or air conditioning etc.

Really enjoyed reading your trip report - going on the Star in the summer leaving from Venice, so your report was a great taster for later this year!

Yes...although the tour didn't take us all the way to the top but once you know where it is you can do it on your own. Iva had some great stories about the making of that scene.
Perfect 😄

I just booked the star in july. I did the med on the epic last year. Did a bit of searching. Looks enjoyable but a bit smaller ship. I can give a review post after
I had a fabulous time on the Epic and thinking of booking the Star - have you been yet as I would love your feedback before I proceed, thanks x

Thank you both - know where to head to on now on our day at sea. I will try and get there early unless I indulge too much the night before .......

hello, I am really pale as is the whole family so shade is important to us!! I was wondering where is the best places to go around the pool/outdoor public areas so that the family can hide out from the sun for a while?? Doing the 7 day from Barcelona and know it is going to be hot hot hot but love to find a shaded spot outdoors!! Appreciate any guidance :)

Just want to confirm - 12 eur per person return, but taxi for 4 is 90 eur return. If I am correct might just go taxi to make it easy and get to site early before it gets too hot.

Hello, my family are making our own way to Pompeii and want a guide to bring the our visit alive!! From searching internet found "Pompei guide" and they will arrange a guide for us for euro 130 for hours. Can any experts advise if you can arrange a guide on the day and is it easy to arrange with others to share the cost?? Thanks

Hello, I read a fabulous trip report from a US family staying in the Haven who gave loads of details about their excursions on port days and I have just spent ages looking for it with no joy!! (think it was posted summer 2016) Can anyone point me towards any good reports to read (and look at lovely photos) please. Thanks and appreciate any assistance. :)

Thanks everyone for the advise & keeping me right!! Think I am going to use OBC to partially funds the Specialty dining package for the 4 of us, but going to book Cagneys & another restaurant and then book cirque when I board and pay extra for VIP tickets. This will probably be our only family cruise so I want to make it amazing 😀

Hello, our family is split between 2 rooms and have $100 per room OBC & drinks package (7 day med Epic cruise). We want to go to the circus show and Cagneys so thought it makes sense to use OBC to buy the 3 speciality restaurant offer, but I have been told by NCL I cannot purchase until I am on the ship?? Ok, but does that mean I cannot make reservations until I am onboard and if that is the case would all the best times be gone? Has anyone else had this problem (note we are 2 adults and 2 children).

thank you both for your assistance. i have found a tour with viator which does pompeii and vesuvius - i just need to decide if i want ease of an organised tour but will be in a big group vs DIY

Hello
I am early stages of organising how to spend our time when we dock at Naples and wanted to check with some experts on my plans so far. We are cruising in July, so going to be hot! Ideally want to get off the ship asap take train to pompeii (is it a long walk from port to station) visit the ruins and then get the bus up to vesuvius (you can get tickets/trip from train station I think). So firstly, has anyone else done this itinerary? My thoughts are to allow 6 hrs to do both and is it best to visit ruins first and then go up the volcano (want to walk to the summit albeit it is a 30 min walk?).
Visiting both is something my family would like to do, all are fit so no mobility worries
Any guidance gratefully appreciated

Thank you for the update. I am going on the Star in July and while the ports excite I am scared I will be underwhelmed by a tired ship!
