  1. Back from the transatlantic cruise on the very tired "Star". On a chat with captain he pointed mostly upgrade will be on the restaurant area. About child area I think they're gonna change the "Ice cream" area.

I spotted at least one group of subcontractors working during the cross. I ask at one of technician about specifically what they're doing, he was vague but his company is on the HVAC area renovation so because they're working on the after compressor area, I think they use the cross to start disassembling or replacing stuff around.

Anyway COB Marek told me they're gonna check pods seals (again) "just in case" and renovate one gen unit.

I hope they're doing something about the outdated cabin but seems not enough time.

Thank you for the update. I am going on the Star in July and while the ports excite I am scared I will be underwhelmed by a tired ship!

  2. I used Tuscany bus in July last year (family of 4) and they were no problem, very relaxing. We walked up to the Vatican took a few photos then found a taxi rank and from memory it was 10 euros to get to the colloseum and 10 minutes. All went well for us with no worries about if we would have a seat or air conditioning etc.

  3. I just booked the star in july. I did the med on the epic last year. Did a bit of searching. Looks enjoyable but a bit smaller ship. I can give a review post after

I had a fabulous time on the Epic and thinking of booking the Star - have you been yet as I would love your feedback before I proceed, thanks x

  4. hello, I am really pale as is the whole family so shade is important to us!! I was wondering where is the best places to go around the pool/outdoor public areas so that the family can hide out from the sun for a while?? Doing the 7 day from Barcelona and know it is going to be hot hot hot but love to find a shaded spot outdoors!! Appreciate any guidance :)

  5. Hello, my family are making our own way to Pompeii and want a guide to bring the our visit alive!! From searching internet found "Pompei guide" and they will arrange a guide for us for euro 130 for hours. Can any experts advise if you can arrange a guide on the day and is it easy to arrange with others to share the cost?? Thanks

  6. Hello, our family is split between 2 rooms and have $100 per room OBC & drinks package (7 day med Epic cruise). We want to go to the circus show and Cagneys so thought it makes sense to use OBC to buy the 3 speciality restaurant offer, but I have been told by NCL I cannot purchase until I am on the ship?? Ok, but does that mean I cannot make reservations until I am onboard and if that is the case would all the best times be gone? Has anyone else had this problem (note we are 2 adults and 2 children).

  7. Hello

I am early stages of organising how to spend our time when we dock at Naples and wanted to check with some experts on my plans so far. We are cruising in July, so going to be hot! Ideally want to get off the ship asap take train to pompeii (is it a long walk from port to station) visit the ruins and then get the bus up to vesuvius (you can get tickets/trip from train station I think). So firstly, has anyone else done this itinerary? My thoughts are to allow 6 hrs to do both and is it best to visit ruins first and then go up the volcano (want to walk to the summit albeit it is a 30 min walk?).

Visiting both is something my family would like to do, all are fit so no mobility worries

    Any guidance gratefully appreciated
