  1. I was on the 1/26-2/1 sailing and yes it's true. People call me crazy for using a paper napkin to handle tongs at buffets and using a knuckle to push elevator buttons but we didn't get it. Just follow all precautions and you will be fine!

The cruise line does all it can to prevent the spread of this nasty bug but ultimately it is in OUR hands as passengers. I can't tell you how many people don't even realize that every time they put their hands on something then touch their mouth or eyes that they've just infected themselves. I saw so many putting their room key card in their mouth. No wonder norovirus spreads so quickly. There were even people fighting to get away from the employees trying to give us hand sanitizer. Amazing!!

  2. Just getting off the Allure this morning, be warned there have been several cases of norovirus reported. You won't get it if you use napkins to handle tongs at buffets, sanitize hands everywhere and don't touch elevator buttons and handrails with your bare hands. We avoided it and had a great time. The ship employees are constantly wiping down everything. You know it is brought on board with passengers again and again.

  3. Parents are ultimately responsible for their own children. When my boys were young I rarely went out with them without my husband. I never would've cruised with them, to me that's no vacation. Things are different now, parents are different now. Little "jimmy" is ENTITLED to have the same vacation as mom and dad

I am just grateful that RCCL has adult only areas

  4. In April 2014 my DD and I sailed to celebrate her college graduation and her first "grown up job"...so I splurged and got the Ultimate package for each of us. I had my doubts that we would be able to drink that much and still stand/walk, but I was wrong. There was almost something liberating about it...absolutely no worries about the bill at the end of the cruise or budgeting for fun.

Virtually anything we wanted was at our disposal...from "designer coffee" or mimosas at breakfast, poolside umbrella drinks onboard or beachside at Labadee, bottled water* as we were leaving the ship at port, before dinner martinis, wine/champagne with dinner, and then an after dinner cocktail during a show or just relaxing. Was it worth it? For us it definitely was. Did I drink more that I normally would have? Definitely did that too, but we have already made the decision to purchase it again on our next trip.

*I do like the tip from the previous poster about stocking up on water as you can to have it available. You just need to remember you can only "purchase" one at a time per card.

That's the way it should be, we had packages for our recent Brilliance trip and had between 5-8 beverages daily plus tons of bottled water. Love it!

  5. We sailed on her last month and I agree, she is a beautiful ship! Had an aft suite 1600 and it was lovely. No noise from the windjammer above as others have stated and we slept with the door open. My elderly parents didn't care too much for the long walk though. Our cabin steward Dane was only so so

There were three of us and couldn't get three wine glasses, three coffee cups, three bags of coffee,etc..... Everything was in twos.

That aside we had a wonderful time on this beautiful ship and I am looking to book a family cruise for next year!

  6. We got off the Brilliance on the 24th and had a lovely cruise. Stayed in a GS 1600

I was with my elderly parents and it was a lot of walking for them and the bathtub was very high and difficult to get in and out of. That is my only complaint! We ate in Giovanni's twice(excellent filet and shrimp)the MDR the first night and the Chefs Table which was outstanding. Don't miss the roast beef sandwich at the Park Cafe for lunch(in the solarium)They didn't announce the Aerial show in the centrum so we missed it and they only do it once for the four day cruise. I was a little disappointed but consoled myself with the drink pkg. and our favorite seats by the pool. I am looking to book a family cruise next year on this beautiful ship!
