  1. so if we take the bus out to the glacier and visitor center, i am partially in a wheel chair, will i still be able to get around. I really like to see the Black Bear over look. We leave in a couple weeks.

  2. Ya me and the wife loveeee to snack. But we want to get the most out our foodie experience,so on board we will limit our nibbles a little. I am going to pack nibble bags for us and her Parents for our excursions, maybe to hold us over until we get back to the boat

  3. Ok what food do you or will bring on your next cruise. I seen this on Facebook(Cruise critic page) asking "what snacks

would you bring". I though food, all the food that's on the cruise! and you want to bring snacks/food??.

Then I thought Oh ya!!, i love to snack, they mention Gummy Bears(good Idea), peanut Butter crackers even See's

chocolates. I am a huge Chocolate and salt fan, so i thought of different packages of chocolates and maybe nuts, pretzels

I am also bringing my own soda. I avid soda drinker, but not enough to make it 50.00+ expense for the soda package.

SO I love to hear what others will bring or think of bringing??.

  4. So our Great Alaska cruise is coming down the home stretch. We have done the on line check in, printed off the paper work/tickets, i guess. So I am a nervous bug, I am i missing anything to do(as far as celebrity gos). I think we (at least I do, the wife says we got it all) do, is celeberty going/suppose to send us anything??. So its me and my wife, when i printed off the express pass, its only one pass,do we share it?, do they give us a card?. Celebrity is not great in fourth coming info.

  5. Beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, what looks like beauty to one, might look blah to another. I personal find beauty In everything, but thats me.,that's OK. Maybe you see it in person and have a diffrent oppion, maybe not, but you will at least get to see the magnitute of Mother nature and its strength. There you can walk away with at least the respect of the Ice.

  6. We were just on Equinox in June and my DD was in a wheelchair. The wheelchair was a rather last minute thing, so we were in a standard cabin.

Important: the wheelchair would not fit through the door of the cabin when she was in it. She had to get to the door, get the chair through the door, then sit down in it.

She was able to take the few steps necessary, but could not walk distances or stand more than a few minutes at a time. She had assistance every time she got on or off the ship, often with a pusher in back and someone else in front of the chair. Even if we were with her, someone from Celebrity would jump in to help get her off or on the ship.

Hopefully you are taking your own chair, or have one rented through special needs and you are not depending on a free loaner from Celebrity. There were a couple of people I saw that depended on a free loaner rather than bring or renting one, and the ones they had only had small wheels. This was an issue because they were required to always have someone push them. My DD has the two rear wheels that are large and meant to be self pushed.

Even though they are more expensive, I would take excursions through the ship. If you are having a bad pain day or need to cancel fairly late, you should be able to. The ShoreEx staff should be able to advise you what excursions will be WC friendly. They may also be able to give you a slight head start once your excursion is called, since you will be dependent on elevators to get there and they sometimes fill fast.

the elevators were our biggest hurdle in many cases, as people would rush to fill them when they arrived and we were getting turned.

Good luck and if you have additional questions, I'll try to answer them.

Thanks for the Info, with our cruise coming up, i am so excited. Just getting a feel with the wheel chair, i have never had to use one for any length of time.

  7. Like I said I will have a dress shirt, oh no, not a tie or coat LOL. I would look like a emperor penguin LOL:). It is kind of odd how everyone is worried about how everyone else is dress??, i mean if you dress up to go to dinner, great ,its just odd to find how others are concern what i look like?. If the staff at Celebrity lets us in super if not, ok we will head to the Buffet, i might suggest the folks who object to my formal wear do the same to,maybe?.

  8. Thank you. Yes, i had to re-read my post, i thought i mention me and my wife on the cruise LOL, nope sorry about that. Ya as of right now i can walk or stand for about almost 10 min before i have to sit down. How Is getting from deck to deck with a wheel chair? ya i can walk off the ship and like on to buses. We have never did a cruise, this will be our first. We are so excited.

  9. So I am excited, leaving here in a few weeks for 7 day trip on the Solstice. It looks like i will be in a wheel chair a lot, This will be the push type. I was thinking of the scooter, but cost turns out to be a factor, also we had not reserved a room that would hold one. I been diagnosed with three herniated disk and walking looks like something i will do little of, but i will LOL. Right after the cruise i go under the knife.

So i wanted to get all the help full info i can for wheel chair,on the boat and on shore getting on and off. Now I wont be in the wheel chair 24/7, i hope, ther ewill be some walking. I guess Pacifically the Solstice and Alaska ports. Any info or experience would be great.

  10. 64 nice, i am actually class of 87(67 is my birth year LOL) i so miss the old school, Oh ya we will have a ball, like i said this will be our first cruise yaaa. I have to admit i was taken back at all the anger and bitterness people show here on CC, kind of made me question whether cruising was for us. I am keeping a open mind and so look forward to our cruise now that its getting closer. We will mot let the whole formal night debate change anything, we will have a great time regardless. I am going to leave the coat and tie home and dine where ever.

  11. nope our other party will not even try LOL, its my wife's Parents. They would never even try to go. It would be one of the nights that just me and the wife have dinner.. Umm i might do the "Borrow Jacket" if need be, but i think at that point my wife would just say bag it LOL. I do not wear a jacket (any) at any restaurant, i probably would just end up taking it off. We will see?. So what kind of food would everyone say is general in the MDR?, steak house typ food,a certain nationality, seafood?

  12. Well i did not get the choice of lines,no ones fault. I revived ours as a gift Again no one is disputing the rules of the Boat and or Celebrity. I am just going to attend the MDR for one of the formal nights, me in my NICE clean dress shirt and my wife in her beautful skirt, If Celebrity staff tells us we need to be in different clouting to enter, well that's OK we will move on. I am going to enjoy it regard less.

If this helps Celebrity in the future, of weather they should alienate a certain dress requirement, and require people to to flip out more money for a Tux or evening gown. It might be able to bring more adversity to MDR on formal nights. We might be the folks who started a new trend??. More likly then not, but it sounds like the trend of tux and Gowns might be fading anyway. I am one person, so i don't think there is much to worry. Just one opinion.

  13. Whilst I am 100% on your side I really must advise you to leave this thread now while you can. Stay and you will be made to feel like a disrespectful barbarian for daring to choose for yourself what you think is appropriate dress.

Oh and next time can you make sure you name your threads more obviously? I almost missed the fun of another dress code thread because I thought this one was just about which nights are formal :)

Thanks :), oh no, i will never feel like "Disrespectful" this is just my opinion on opinion, i am just pointing out yes even on a cruise boat, peoples point of taste should be respected and accepted. To exclude a set of people, because of there tastes, seems really Barbaric.

I feel so lucky to be going on this cruise and i will enjoy every minute. I cant change peoples views, just open there eyes, happy cruising. I will be here as long as people like to chat.

  14. Its just kind of funny how some, not all, find what other people do so offensive to the point where they want them excluded. This was not ment as a argument, i hope everyone will have fun and a good trip regardless of what they wear with there cruise in 2014:):)

  15. It is not a question of being not wanted by the way you look. It is a question of respect, and following rules you agreed to follow when you booked the cruise. It's my opinion that these are qualities that did not go out of style in 2014.

Its very much on how we look, that's why this subject lives. Respect does not equal how you dress. yes even here in 2014 to.

  16. How fast do you go if the speed limit is 50MPH??? What other rules don't you like?

well if you read my post(thank you in advance:)), certainly by your comment you have not, so do me the favor and read it please. I said if they do not allow us in we will move on.

  17. I'm sorry but wile I may support your right to do as you please, be mindfull of the fact that others do support formal nights as an important part of there overall cruise experience. This is why cruise lines have formal nights, so why spoil the experience that others are having ! If your not into formal nights then its easy don't go, after all they don't have that many formal nights and there are other areas that you can dine in. I feel that a cruise is special and I for one look forward to dressing up, so lets all have a great cruise:rolleyes:

Nope, if they do not let us In,well then will be more then happy to go to the Buffet or somewhere else. Not to go because it somehow lessen the experience for others? no i will go, and have a good time and i hope with everyone else. Fine dress up, we will to if its my clouthing that makes you not have a good time its not my attire, just saying.

  18. Go to Goodwill or a re-sale shop, they always have pretty decent brand navy sportcoats for cheap. You can re-donate it when you return from the cruise. There are ships that are casual all the time if this is such a big deal to you.

TY, i actually thought of doing this route, i might. Its really not me, matter of fact i did not even wear one at my wedding, i wore a vest tie combo LOL.

  19. Thank you all for your input, i appreciate everyone. Umm i don't know if i could get my self a to buy a coat, even wear one LOL. Maybe, you never know, but I am certainly will not hesitate to try to dine in the MDR on formal nights . Now If they do not let us In, OK we will move on. If we are allowed to dine, we will by no means not feel under dressed or feel out of place!!. No one on the boat is better then anyone else, now rules are the rules, but to avoid some place because you are not wanted by the way you look, sorry this is 2014.
