Just booked on Harmony for Sept next year. Got a reasonable price that included drinks package, plus a bit of extra discount from TA. There are 6 of us going so we may give the drinks package lots of use. :)
Apparently the Harmony is very similar to the Allure so have a look at her for an idea of what to expect.
Sept. 15, 2016 is the cruise I have on 24 hr. hold. Thought the price was reasonable especially with the drink package discount. Wish we could afford a suite but so long as we have a balcony we'll be happy. Which side is better for a Mediterranean cruise, port or starboard? Right now we've chosen the port side. :)

Hope to book a med cruise in summer 2016 , if the prices drop.
they are way to high (for us at the moment)
we always book 13-14 cruises , the prices for the harmony (7 nights ) are not much less than a 14 nighter for our usual august trips.
will probably sail out of Rome and have a 7 night driving holiday either before or after.
The price I have is only $400 more than I'm paying for the Allure next January. Maybe I'm naïve but I thought that was pretty good. Also, if a lower price comes available I was under the impression from RCI that I could rebook at the lower price.

I'm just looking at a Western Mediterranean cruise in Sept. or Oct. 2016. Still not sure if I'm ready to book so far in advance. :)

It's just whoever is queued up when they open doors board in priority order (a few minutes difference). Once the backlog is cleared up then people can board right away after check in.
Thanks. I feel much better now. On our last cruise we were with a tour which boarded early and it was nice to be able to relax and explore the ship.:)
-
Once the suites and upper tier C&A members have boarded then you'll board with the general boarding.
That's disappointing. We were hoping to be able to board early.
-
not really. if you are in a suite you will board first, just after Pinnacles and wedding parties. otherwise, you board according to boarding number, and each cruise terminal does that in their own way.
once boarding begins, however, it is usually a very quick process
there will be a list in your cabin letting you know what your coupons are (pre loaded on to the sea pass card)
Forgive me but I'm a little confused. If we arrive at the terminal early do we have to wait until the suites are boarded before we're allowed on the ship?

You can choose different times.
Just a heads up ... on our Jewel cruise 2 weeks ago MTD was booked solid. If you had no reservation they had no table available, not even with a wait .... and when we went to book reservations onboard they had 2 times available: 5:45 or 8. Nothing else. And they put us at the same table every night even though we actually would have loved a different table. We were not happy with MTD and found it as rigid as traditional seating.
I think the amount of flexibility MTD gives you is very dependent on your individual sailing. Based on what I had read here I was taken aback by the reality onboard.
We had very similar problems with MTD on the Radiance in July 2014. We have another Royal cruise planned on the Allure in January and hope we don't have similar problem. We were thinking about signing up for a 6:00 MTD then at least we have reservations even if we don't use them.

1st cruise EVER. Radiance leaving Seward on July 4. 4 day land tour before that. Hope I know what I'm doing with the pre-planning.

This is our 1st and probably only visit to Alaska. If we take the bus to Mendelhall Glacier, is there much difficult walking involved? Will we be able to see much without being able to walk the trails? Or would we be better off spending the extra $$ and taking a floatplane tour?

Please forgive me for not making myself more clear.
No helicopter rides for me. We'd like to see the dogs and perhaps ride on one of their training sleds. There are 2 shore excursions that do this that I can see: one is a shore excursion in Juneau and the other is a shore excursion in Skagway.
As for the glaciers, we were thinking of just taking the bus ride in Juneau to the Mendenhall Glacier. We were also looking at the Mendenhall Glacier & Salmon Bake or the Alaskan Glacier Seaplane Adventure and Taku Lodge Feast.
We're just not sure which tours are best. Never having cruised before we just have no clue how to choose.

This will be our first time in Alaska and 1st cruise. Should we book the bus ride to the Glacier now or wait until we're in Juneau?

Never cruised before and we're feeling overwhelmed with the many shore excursion choices. We're doing a 4 day land and 7 day cruise on Radiance in July. Ports of call are: Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait (tendered), and Ketchikan. Our definites are a sled dog camp and get up close to a glacier. We'd also like to take our time walking around Skagway and Ketchikan. Both Juneau and Icy Strait offer flightseeing. Which one do we choose? Do we do this on our own or do a cruise shore excursion? Dog sled and musher camp excursions are offered at both Juneau and Skagway. No idea which is better.
We'd appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone can offer.
Anyone booked on the harmony yet?

Is everyone waiting for something better than the 50% off the second guest? We also got 50% off second drink package.
