  1. This morning we got our coach travel confirmation from Intercruises. They confirm there is no need for a COVID test prior to boarding but masks need to be worn at all times on the coach. That’s fine by us.

On the smoking front I’m one of those unusual people who’s never smoked one! When I was a teenager no one offered me one so I didn’t have that peer pressure.

Me neither. My husband used to smoke but was told by his daughter when she was pregnant with her first child that he would not be able to hold the baby smelling of cigarettes. It worked like a dream and he gave up and has never had another one. That was 15 years ago.

  3. We are on Iona on the 18th of Feb. In ‘My P&O cruises’ it says that bookable events can be booked from the 3rd. We are only really interested in the Limelight Club and Sindhu currently but will see what else is available when we book them.

Thank you, everyone has positive things to say about Madeira so really looking forward to it.

Michelle, as others have said you will love Madeira, I have never known anyone who didn’t like it. We had a holiday there several years ago and we could see the cruise ships coming into port, it got me very excited. We subsequently have been on two Western Med cruises which stopped there. It’s my husband’s 70th birthday in July and I have booked 10 days in a hotel my sister recommended.  Have a great holiday and keep well. X

  5. If you go into P&O Cruises then my.pocruises.com, login with your 6 digit booking ref,, name and date of birth. On the next screen, click on ‘before you sail’ and ‘shore experiences’ and you should have all the latest information.

Thankfully, there is a lot less to do than when we went on our December 22 Caribbean cruise.

Have a great cruise I’m sure will love it.

  6. Good to read all your new year posts. Lovely morning here in Bolton. I am going up to my daughters shortly to look after Leo, her 12 year old son who has autism. They are taking the other two (10 and 13) to the cinema. Leo doesn’t like the noise and light so we will have a cosy afternoon eating chocolate.

I had a surprise last evening, going through the channels trying to find something to watch I came across an advert for P&O cruises on Great TV, channel 157. It was part way through so didn’t see it all. I have never seen one before, have they always done them?

  7. Happy new year to you all. We normally have my sister coming to stay on NYE but she has flu so it was just the two of us and the cat. There were very few fireworks here which is unusual. We were in bed by 11.30 and asleep before midnight.

We are off up the road later to my daughters (630 footsteps) and beginning the start of our New Year’s resolution to walk every day. Very happy as I can now say we are cruising next month.

I hope you are all well and have a happy and healthy 2023. Xx

  8. Just had an email from my friend who is on Arvia. She says to ignore all the bad press, they are having a lovely time, minor issues with waiting for a table but nothing terrible and they would recommend it to anyone. They have not seen any bad behaviour, as usual the minority who are causing problems get in the press. We are on Iona in 7 weeks, my friend has been on that and says it’s a lovely ship and she knows we will enjoy it. I trust her views as she knows us very well.

  9. A balmy one degree here in Bolton but forecast is for -5 later.. We had quite a scare last night. Around 6.30 our doorbell rang and two young children were there. They said that someone had fallen on the drive next door. Ian went out and their grandma was trying to get our next door neighbour, Peter, up from under his car. Ian got him up and in the house and he wasn’t badly injured. He is 89 and despite the ice on the road and it being dark he said he had to go out to buy Christmas presents. We have asked him several times not to go out in the dark,  he is a lovely but stubborn man. His daughter lives in Scotland and his son lives in Wales, I rang Janet and she was really upset but angry with him for going in these bad conditions. I couldn’t stop thinking that if the Grandma and children had not been walking there dog, he could have been lying there for a long time, with potentially dire consequences. We are at the bottom of the cul de sac and there is a narrow ginnel in the corner which goes down to the main road. It is used a lot during the day but not so at night. He says he feels fine this morning but I suspect he has had quite few words from his children. We do a lot of shopping for him but he does like to do a bit himself and go for a coffee in town. Upsetting time for us all.

It worked terrierjohn. I had to click on every page individually (41 times). I then came out of the thread, when I went back in took me to the last page. Thanks for your help, it was beginning to annoy me that I had to select the fill in the page finder box every time.

No, it didn’t work, it reverted back when I went back into this topic.  Only just noticed that you can click on the latest page at the top of the screen. I will do that in future until I can figure a solution.

I can only assume that the system thinks you have not read some posts  around 1589. Possibly if you use the next page feature to get you to the current page it will get you back to normal.

  12. We had quite a bit of snow here yesterday which is not thawing as temperature is -1. We are at the bottom a sloping cul-de-sac and the road is covered in compressed snow so we are not venturing out today. We had a surprise yesterday, three very small fawns chasing round the farmers field behind us. It was lovely to watch but it probably means more of my plants will get eaten next summer.

  13. We have been on Arcadia twice, the last one to the Fjords in 2019. The Fjords were fabulous but not so Arcadia. The ship was full and on sea days it was difficult to find a quiet spot. Everywhere felt crowded and it was looking a bit tired. We are going on Iona in February, I am a little concerned it will be very busy but wanted to give it a go.
