Thanks, Bonnie, for looking into this for me. I'm pleased with your and Azamara's responsiveness in developing an interim solution. I booked the shore excursion today.

Since we'll be in Barcelona for several nights pre-cruise, we wanted room to spread-out. We booked the Citadines Las Ramblas. The largest apartment is a one-bedroom, but, since there are only 16 of them, book early if you would like one. A friend who lives in Barcelona said this hotel is in a great location.

Several years ago, we spent one night at the Londra Palace Hotel in Venice prior to embarking a cruise. The hotel was wonderful, a short walk to St. Mark's Square, and next to the water taxi dock.

Bonnie,
Thanks for looking into this. I greatly appreciate it. Please let me know if there is any further information.
Happy Thanksgiving!

We realize you are waiting for Azamara Club Cruises to offer the ability to pre-book tours online using your On-Board Credit (OBC.) We’re working on a solution that will be available this Fall 2017.
As an interim solution, effective immediately guests sailing with Azamara between May and August may pre-book our tours online (using credit card payment) and once onboard cancel and rebook their tours using OBC. This change takes effect today, 5/2/17, and is a temporary policy until our online function is available. Also please note, all tours booked or rebooked onboard will be charged the current onboard price at the time of booking/rebooking.
Terms and Conditions:
Shorex Onboard Credit (“OBC”) Offer applies to sailings departing between May and August 2017. Guests may not use restricted OBCs (Casino OBC or Spa OBC) to rebook their Shore Excursions. Tours will be charged at the current onboard price at the time of booking/rebooking. Tours must be cancelled no later than 48 hours prior to tour departure. Shorex OBC Offer excludes tours involving flights, trains, special events, overnight stays, hotel stays, and private tours, which must be cancelled 30 days prior to sailing. OBC is not redeemable for cash and expires on the final night of the cruise. Other restrictions apply.
Bonnie,
Are the above terms & conditions you posted in May are still applicable? Is so, do they preclude me from using the workaround for a shorex in Akaroa, New Zealand that includes the TranzAlpine railroad? I called Azamara, but the phone representative didn't know the answer.
-
Bonnie,
I would like to use the workaround for a one-day excursion that includes rail and bus rides. Do the terms and conditions preclude using the workaround for this type of excursion? Thanks for your help.
-
Thanks, Bonnie, for all of your efforts. I greatly appreciate it and will use the workaround for my upcoming cruise. Is a permanent solution still being worked on? If so, is there an estimated deployment date?
-
I will see if there's any news for you on the permanent fix.
Thanks, Bonnie, for checking on the permanent fix. Depending upon the implementation timing, please also ask about extending the workaround to at least February 2018.
-
Bonnie,
I'm sailing with Azamara in early February 2018 and would appreciate it if you would please confirm the workaround is available. When I spoke to a phone representative, I was told I could book and pay for my shore excursion now and, when on board, cancel, receive a refund and rebook using OBC. I asked about the old policy of going to the bottom of any wait-list, but was told this was not the case. I am uncomfortable doing this without having the policy in writing. Thanks for your assistance.
-
Bonnie,
Do you expect the permanent fix for using OBC to book shore excursions to be available soon? If not, will it be possible to extend the work around? I'm on a February 8, 2018 sailing and would like to book the excursions.
-
When we disembark in Auckland, we will be going to the airport. Will there be plenty of taxis waiting or do I need to book one in advance?
-
DH and I only drink several varietals of red wine. Last cruise, none were to our liking. I want to be prepared for upcoming extended cruises in 2 018. Thanks for your assistance.
-
Is there a limit to the number of bottles of wine that can be brought on board? I thinking of bringing approximately 12 bottles.
-
Bonnie,
I'm sailing in early February and am anxious to book shore excursions. If the permanent fix is not available, it would be help if the workaround would be extended. Thanks for your assistance.
-
Bonnie,
When is the permanent solution expected? I'm on a February 8th sailing and anxious to book shore excursions.

In Ephesus, DH, I and two passengers from our CC roll call had a wonderful tour with Ekol Travel. I think our sightseeing was enhanced by the small group.
-
Pat,
I booked Quay West serviced apartments for a week stay in Sydney pre-cruise. It is centrally located to all of the sites -- Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Royal Botanic Gardens, The Rocks, etc. A friend has stayed many times at the York serviced apartments.

Azamara Journey will be visiting all the ports you mention except Wellington. If you look at the roll call for the February 8, 2018 sailing, you'll see the private excursions arranged by passengers. Hope this is helpful.

DH and I will be in Hobart in February on the Azamara Journey. I booked two days of excursions with Judy at Eye See Tasmania. You can see my posting if you look at the roll call for the February 8, 2018 sailing.

In addition to the Meriton Kent Street, I'm considering the Quay West serviced apartments for a 7-night stay in February. What do you recommend for convenience to sightseeing, transportation and dinner? Any insights would be appreciated.
-
Sewon,
If you review the Azamara Journey February 8, 2018 roll call, you'll see the private excursions that were booked. The ship is going to all of the ports you listed except Wellington.

I'm also interested in a serviced apartment for our 7-night stay in Sydney pre-cruise in February 2018. The Meriton Kent Street sounds good, but I'm concerned about the George Street construction noise impacting my sleep. Is there construction during the night and in the early morning?

I'll be in Dunedin in February 2018 on the Azamara Journey. I and fellow passengers booked a private excursion with 4 Nature Tours. Joanne Harrison is very responsive. If you contact her (at4nature@xtra.co.nz), feel free to tell that Pam S provided her name. She is also going to provide a post-cruise land tour of the south island for me.
