very tight timescale ! we get off the star on the 25th and we have the opposite. our flight leaves venice at 7 in the evening and we have no idea what to do when we leave the ship !
Hi we had this last week.
We did the ncl transfer that included luggage storage at the cruise terminal.
We got off about 8.45 got receipts for our luggage and jumped on the Public water taxi (20 mins) into Venice for a few hours.
Got the water taxi back, our luggage was brought to the coach and we headed for the airport.
All fairly painless.
Venice airport is quite small and chaotic, so we had a bit of waiting around.

Just got off the Star, which had normal dryer in the cabin.
It hadn't got much power or heat, so if you want any volume bring your own.
-
I've never found it a problem. Either on the large ships or the smaller ones.
We were on the Star last week and never waited longer than a couple of minutes.
It's harder to not have a drink, especially when you're by the pool at 11 o'clock and the waiters are wandering around.
Didn't even try to add up how many drinks we'd had by the evening, would have been horrified.
Had a great time.

Hi
Just got off The Star on Sunday.
No problems whatsoever.
Great ship, we had an amazing cruise.
The Greek Islands were beautiful.
Hope this helps.

We're doing the May 14th Venice sailing.
Any questions you have give me a shout.

Hi log on to Myncl and go to explore and plan you will see the option to buy credit up to $1000.
-
Hi have you considered buying on board credit before you embark.
You purchase it in GBP but it goes on as dollars.

Hi Fifi. Did you get an upsell e-mail from NCL? Just wondering as to whether European pax get the same upgrade mail as US pax?
No upsell email.
Upgrade advantage programme isn't available to European passengers.
I just rang ncl and told them I wanted to upgrade my cabin, they gave me a choice of available cabins.
I paid the extra fare amount, which wasn't much as the fares had dropped since we booked.
The cabin we ended up with was originally almost twice the price that we booked it for. ;)
It's just a case of monitoring the fares and guessing when they're at they're lowest.
Within a week of upgrading our sailing was completely sold out.
-
Hi Meg I did it directly with NCL and about 6 weeks from cruise date.

Hi I was able to upgrade quite easily with no cancelling or loss of money.
I got a family suite for just a little more than our mini suite.

Well this is interesting. As a good, diligent bidder, I have been checking NCL.com for inventory (sailing on the Star out of Venice on April 23). For whatever reason, NCL.com will not even show my cruise - at least not on my desktop, iPhone, or iPad (yes, I tried all 3). I searched a random TA (Travelocity, I think), and it still pops up showing the same inventory (at least 15 balconies) as NCL.com was showing last week.
Wonder why it won't pop up? Even if NCL.com was saying it was sold out, wouldn't it at least show up and then be marked as sold out? Who knows!
Would love to hear about our bids tomorrow (10 day out mark) - read on here where someone heard within the 10 day mark, ha!
Hi I'm not bidding as I'm from the UK,
I noticed today that our Star 14th May sailing is completely sold out. Yesterday there were lots of cabins available.
I've been watching prices so I can upgrade.
-
Thanks again.
More questions to follow (I can't get my Haven smile off my face)
Hi curious to know how easy it was to upgrade.
I'm keeping an eye on prices for our sailing in May.
Our last two cruises have been in The Haven, would love to upgrade to a suite this time.
No Haven on The Star so unsure whether it would be worthwhile.
-
Has anyone from the UK ever been able to upgrade or get an up sell. I've got an upcoming cruise and the fares seem to be dropping.
Is it only US passengers that can upgrade.
-
Hey just out of curiosity has anyone from the UK ever managed to upgrade or get an up sell ?

Well done Doug you've kept us all enthralled with your travelogue.
I don't know how I'm going to get through the next few days without your posts, I've already got withdrawal symptoms.
We're on Escape on the 27th and looking forward to it even more now.
Have a safe journey home.

We did this cruise on 6th July. We too were at the terminal by 11am we didn't have to wait long as they started boarding before 12. We were in group 4 and got on just after 12 ,also our luggage was ready fairly early so we were all sorted by 2pm.
Enjoy your trip we did.

Enjoying your review. You got us looking over the balcony at H20.
I recognise you from the cruise, saw you a few times and had a feeling you were from the roll call ( wish I'd said hello now ).
We had posh pass for the week, apart from the windy sea day we were there every day it was blissfully quiet.
Looking forward the rest of your review.

Hi enjoying your review.
We're doing this trip on 6th July so eager to hear your do's and don'ts .
It should save us time figuring out what we are meant to be doing as this is our first time on a cruise.
Getting so excited just want it to come round quicker.
A few questions before going on our first cruise, The Star, next Sunday.

Hi we were on the Star 14-21 May.
The Bier Garten closes at 6. It's a great place to hang out in during the day.
It can be a bit windy whilst at sea as it's at the top of the ship.
But you can usually find a bit of shelter somewhere.
We liked the loungers just down from there, lovely and sunny and the waiters come round and take drinks orders.
Gatsbys was our evening favourite. Great bar staff and live music most nights.
Small enough to feel really friendly and we always ended up chatting with other people.
Dave the piano player was great and had everyone joining in at times.
Mykonos was our favourite port.
We just got off and did our own thing at each port, most were just a walk from ship or tender area.
The shops are quite expensive, lots of jewellery.
Hope you enjoy your cruise.
