  1. We purchased some Britto framed pieces on our last cruise from Park West . These were numbered pieces which are not commonly available. We collect Britto and are very happy with the pieces we got. I researched online before negotiating the bid. The art was promised to arrive in 12 weeks (new frame and mat), but arrived in 6-8 weeks instead.

  2. Yippee. I got the 2 Bedroom AquaTheatre Suite oh Deck 10. I am very excited. :')

That is a lot of room for the 3 of us. Maybe we will make some friends onboard who we can bring to our balcony to watch some of the water shows.

My onboard credit increased $200 and my rebate from my TA went up $450 so that helps a bit.

I am sure I will have some Star Class and Royal Genie questions but I have been researching so hopefully my questions will be minimal.

I may try and do my first "Live" post if time permits.

    Thanks for everyone's feedback.

You will have a great time! Enjoy.

  3. We have sailed Star Class three times. We have enjoyed each sailing tremendously. You can not quantify by just adding up the cost of the extras. How can you put a price on expedited embarkation where your Genie greets you, walk you through security, check-in and straight to your suite! Our Genie brought us Starbucks coffee every morning. We could have dined on our balcony with white linen service every night. When it came time to disembark, we didn’t have to put out our luggage until 7AM on the day of disembarkation, we were walked off by our Genie at our chosen time (once even after 10:30) and from Suite to curbside in 10 minutes! Then, there are the Suites; we have been in two Sky/Star lofts and a Grand Loft, you just can’t put a price on those Suites.

We have seven more Star Class Royal sailings booked and we look forward to every one!

  4. Which suite(s) did you sail in on the Oasis? Who was your Genie? Husband and I are sailing in RLS 1740 on the 10th of December and our Genie is Mary Joyce. I can't find reviews on how she is! Also, how much did you tip for two people?

We have been in the Sky Loft 1718 on Oasis and 1720 on Allure; there is only two of us cruising. We had Marta as our Genie on Oasis and Marla on Allure. Both Genies were different, one was a little quiet and the other was very out going and engaging.

Genie Marla insisted that we call her in the morning for Starbucks after hearing that I had gone down to the Promenade to get Starbucks. And from that point on she would call us every night to get our Starbucks order.

I think on another thread, the consensus is between $50-100/ night depending on the number of people in the Suite and how “over and beyond” he/she performs.

Anyone else can comment on tipping the Genie?

  5. I would like to thank all contributors to this thread. I have never been in a Star Class suite but have been tempted. On my last cruise (Sky Class) the genies were very visible and it was clear the Star Class suite guests got a great VIP experience. Something I would like to experience for myself.

I don't do parties, drink much alcohol, eat in the room or have a lot of needs or special requirements. So for me, being in Star Class would be about the attention to detail and ironing out the creases which could otherwise spoil a relaxing holiday. That includes making embarkation and disembarkation as easy as possible. Very few simple requirements but I expect each one to be taken care of with the minimum of fuss.

I have previously sampled butler service on QM2 where we were in the Queen's Grill. I have to say based on what I am reading here, Royal Caribbean's Star Class is far superior.

We’ve enjoyed Star Class so much on Oasis class ships that we will not book anything else, we also enjoy the bigger suites even though it only just my wife and I sailing. On our first Star Class sailing, we really didn’t use the Genie very much because we were so used to arranging everything ourselves.

But our Genie insist that we should leave more for her to do. We now have progress to the point that our Genie will arrange to have Starbucks delivered to our suite in the morning. And you have to experience in suite dining (not off the regular room service menu) from any Specialty Restaurant onboard. It’s not just attention from the Genie, we have noticed that as the program matures, we get more attentive service everywhere on the ship.

  6. I found the LOOP system a disaster. Not once did I receive a reply. I believe RCL could do better.

That being said, I give high marks for our Genie Sebastian and our experience in Star Class. Sadly we return to shore tomorrow. It is an experience we will definitely repeat.

The Genies prefer you to call them directly (when onboard). Otherwise, before embarkation, it’s better to email them.

  7. Can you tell me what the Royal Family Suite (2 bedroom) will be called under the new categorization? I don't know how it is listed for 2018.

I thought in 2016 the Royal Family Suite was Star class. It is now listed as Sky. Does anyone know what the category really was in July 2016?

They are called Grand Suite - 2 Bedroom. Thus they are only in Sky Class.

  8. I understand it's a perk, but it's rare that you even need it. When you do, it rarely saves more than 15 minutes.

It depends, some people like to get onboard and start their vacation as soon as possible. Or, you just don’t want to deal with the general crowd.

I, personally, like to board early no matter cruising or flying, just to get settle sooner, or in the case of cruising, to go to a Specialty restaurant and finalize my dining for the week.
