  1. Looks like a great sale popped up on my VIFP members only offers this morning.

I just booked my first back to back cruise! 21 days!?!?! I am both excited and worried.. have never done a cruise this long before. I was lucky enough to experience an interior with picture window walkway room my last cruise a few weeks ago and was able to book a similar room again. Booked it as a solo cruise, although I might have a gf come with this time... Surprised that the $100 credit showed up for each individual booking, even though it stated in the T&C that it would be $50 per person. I made sure to take a screen shot of it as I booked them individually. Lucky for me. the OBC makes the whole trip about 80.76 per night... a deal I could'nt pass up. This is also going to be my first time on the Dream. I will be on the debut sailing Oct 4th from New Orleans to San Juan and the one following back to New Orleans with the following port of call: Nassau, The Bahamas; Bermuda; St. Maarten, NA; St. Thomas, USVI; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, USVI; St Kitts, WI; St. Maarten, NA; Grand Turk; Falmouth, Jamaica; New Orleans, LA....... Tons of islands Ive always wanted to visit! Cant wait!

INTRODUCING CARNIVAL JOURNEYS, A NEW SERIES OF ONE-OF-A-KIND LONGER LENGTH VOYAGES

FEATURING SPECTACULAR PORTS OF CALL AND SPECIAL ONBOARD EXPERIENCES

New Cruise Program Encompasses 28 Nine- to 15-Day Adventures Visiting Nearly 40 Destinations

Throughout the Caribbean, Central America, Hawaii, Mexico and The Bahamas

MIAMI (March 5, 2015) – Carnival Cruise Line has launched Carnival Journeys -- a unique collection of nine- to 15-day seagoing adventures that kick off this fall and feature spectacular ports throughout the Caribbean, Central America, Hawaii and Mexico, along with unique shipboard experiences created especially for this one-of-a-kind cruise program.

Carnival Journeys is designed to provide guests with exciting new itinerary choices that will feature less traveled, more exotic ports of call. Carnival Journeys itineraries have been specifically designed for guests who are looking for a longer cruise vacation that will provide the opportunity to visit a wide variety of great destinations and more time to fully enjoy all of the features and facilities available on a selection of the line’s newest and most innovative ships. Carnival Journeys cruises will also include exciting shipboard activities to provide a truly unique Carnival vacation experience.

“We have received a tremendous amount of feedback from our guests and travel agent partners about the importance of consistently offering new Carnival cruise experiences,” said Christine Duffy, Carnival’s president. “Carnival Journeys was created to offer our existing customers even more options while helping us to attract those guests who have not had the opportunity to sail with Carnival and may be enticed by these longer, more exotic itineraries. These new cruises also offer our valued travel agent partners a tremendous new sales opportunity and a great way to earn enhanced commissions based on the longer cruise duration,” she added.

    Incredible Itineraries

Carnival Journeys will debut with an 11-day cruise aboard Carnival Dream from New Orleans to San Juan Oct. 4, 2015. The program will run through Nov. 27, 2016, encompassing 28 departures from eight convenient North American homeports including Los Angeles, Galveston, New Orleans, Miami, Port Canaveral, New York, Baltimore and San Juan. Cruises will operate either round-trip from these homeports or one-way between these ports and San Juan. The itineraries are unique and not available on any other cruise line. A detailed listing of all 28 Carnival Journeys sailings is available here. Additional Carnival Journeys sailings will be announced in the near future.

On Carnival Journeys, guests can experience and explore nearly 40 different tropical destinations, including less visited ports like Tobago, Grenada, La Paz, Martinique, Bonaire and Ixtapa, each home to diverse cultures, centuries-old landmarks and historical structures, and unforgettable natural attractions.

    Memorable Activities

Carnival Journeys participants can also enjoy unique shipboard experiences that will be tailored to each itinerary in the areas of dining, entertainment, team member connections and enrichment, all infused with the line’s spirited brand of fun. These experiences will include:

    • Authentic Eats: Partnering with local restaurants and chefs, Carnival Journeys participants can enjoy on-board cooking demonstrations where these culinary artists will recreate their signature dishes and traditional cuisines from their country. Participants will also have an opportunity to dine at the chef’s restaurant ashore for a nominal fee and accompany the chef as he or she visits local markets for delectable regional specialties.

    • “Local”-tainment: From calypso, soca and Goombay to colorful folkloric entertainment, Carnival Journeys participants will get an up close and personal look at their destination through local entertainment performances taking place outside the ship or on board.

    • Academy of Fun: Through these educational enrichment sessions, Carnival’s shipboard experts will instruct guests in topics ranging from cooking and arts and crafts to digital photography and social media, even celestial navigation. All of these activities will be performed with the fun and entertaining style that only Carnival can provide.

    • Throwback Sea Day: Carnival will set the “way back machine” to 1987 and recreate a fun day at sea with retro pool and deck games, old school dining options like Baked Alaska and the gala midnight buffet, a white glove Captain’s Celebration, popular movies from that era, a circa 1987 version of the Carnival Capers shipboard newsletter, and more.

    • Shipboard Team Member Connections: Here, Carnival Journeys participants can learn more about shipboard life through informative question and answer sessions hosted by the ship’s captain, cruise director, hotel director and others, held at different times throughout the voyage and providing an opportunity to engage and interact with the Carnival team in a fun and casual setting. There will also be an unforgettable show performed by the ship’s crew during the voyage.

All Carnival Journeys adventures are currently open for reservations. For additional information and reservations, contact any travel agent, call 1-800-CARNIVAL or visit carnival.com.

  2. I went on the Chukka Beach Break and it was no where near Burwood beach. Would say Burwood is halfway between the Resort Chukka is at and Falmouth. Chukka Beach Break sucked.. badly.. so bad, everyone asked to go back to the ship early. Food was mediocre, they have a drink staff that wait on you only if you walk to them in the middle to the bar(clueless why they had servers). Beach was not as nice at Doctors Cave. Wished I just cabbed it to Burwood and just lounged there instead. I would def not walk there, its just too far.

  3. You can try this, although its not guaranteed to work.

My last cruise I was going to go solo but a girlfriend of mine really wanted to join me. I added her about a week and a half before sailing. On board, I went to the lido deck to sign us up for cheers(for people in the know, thats where you go to bypass the line in main) and the system listed me as the only passenger in the room. I was able to sign up without having her pay for cheers. This might have been a fluke, but in the end she insisted in getting cheers herself and ended up going to the CS desk to update my room info so she was able to purchase it as well... YMMV

  4. 4 more days until my next Solo Cruise! 2nd time going solo, 1st time doing your time dining. In dire NEED of this vacay! Absolutly loved going solo last time around.. so much freedom and able to meet allot of friendly people :D

  5. Add another person to the list that thinks Pride out of Baltimore is way overpriced. I actually save tons of money flying into ft. lauderdale or miami by booking in advance during a sale through Frontier. Better itineraries and selection of ships. For me, paying almost double for a cabin, driving 2 hours and paying for parking vs taking a $20 cab ride to Dulles airport, taking a cheap $200 flight and flying 4 hours.. seems like flying would be the better option.

  6. The pdf version is usually kept up to date:

    https://www.goccl.com/~/media/GOCCL/Files/Sales/SingleOccupancy.ashx

Although I've found it easier to find no Single supplement promo's myself by searching every day since they randomly/occasionally pop up out of the blue.

As to your questions, they are more apt to post them off season.. sept, oct, nov, dec, jan.. etc.. and usually come out within 30 days of travel. The way that carnival offers no SS really requires a person to be very flexible on booking dates within a very short period of time. Because of that, I wouldn't recommend looking for a no single supplement carnival cruise if you are traveling with a group.

  7. Have some time the next few weeks? I sure wish I did, I would be all over this...

Carnival Triumph back to back cruise. Pack and Go sale. No single supp.

  8. The social media plan should be good enough if you only plan on using Facebook messenger. Personally, I would do the step up to the next plan so you are able to occasionally surf the web.

If you decide to only go with the social media plan, you can always upgrade during your cruise.

  9. Hello everyone. So I booked my first Casino offer solo cruise today, so Im kinda a newbie to this. In my VIFP offers it states

"Up to 40% Off Fun Select Fares & Casino Cash

    Book by March 5, 2015

    Sail by: August 31, 2015

    Request fare code PTC"

Although I did do a quite a bit of gambling my past 2 cruises, I am not sure if this is considered a "Casino Premiere Cruise". My question is how does casino cash work? Will I get a certificate in the mail or will it be in my room?

    Thanks!

  10. Was on the Freedom early last month, self assist took about 2 hours to get through Ft. Lauderdale customs....

Was on the Splendor a few weeks ago, self assist took about 20 min to get through Miami customs...

Difference between the two, Ft Lauderdale had 2 people the first hour then 2 others joined. They sat at their desks and were slooooww... Miami had 6-8 people, all standing in front of their desks at a podium quickly checking ID's and working very efficiently..

Port Everglades customs seriously needs to get their s#$@ together.

  11. Just got confirmation that it's currently only on the Freedom (both the unlimited packages being tested, and the higher speeds announced earlier this month), but JH has said "that will change in days ahead", and that the unlimited plans were proving very popular.

Hoping "days ahead" means by next week.. I would purchase any of the newer unlimited plans again in a heartbeat. Curious to try the premium package to see how fast "fast" is.

  12. I wouldn't call this an alert dealer, I would call it an uneducated dealer because if someone makes those bets without match play the odds are he will wind up losing money.

Took me a sec to figure out what you guys were talking about.. Thats genius! Bet $5 on red with match play and $5 on black without. Red wins $20 - $5, black wins $10 (essentially pushing, no actual money lost).

    Will the casino allow that?

Bummed to hear that they are no longer doing this on the Splendor. Sailing in January on Splendor. Will try to find out why they stopped or if it is "back" on this ship.

    Kim

Ill be on the Splendor next week, Ill let you know when I return.

  13. Yea, I agree with the others. There is no advantage of going through a TA nowadays. I purchased my Freedom cruise directly through Carnival and when I decided to upgrade, it was a very easy process. I have an upcoming cruise next week that I purchased through Discover Card's TA (to get 5% back), and its been a bit cumbersome having someone act as a middleman for me.
