  1. When I got home off the NCL Star this past Sunday, I checked my CC and saw a charge for $1,700 which was a hold, and the $724 which was the actual charge ($500 of that was for four $250 CruiseNext credits, the rest was the daily $13.50/pp service charge, a couple of shirts, and port taxes on drinks in Tampa). I have the final paper bill, and seeing this thread reminded me to check my account again. The $1,700 hold is gone, the $724 is cleared, I now have a $9.94 charge that cleared which I have no idea what it is, and I have another $724 in pending... I hate when companies can't get billing correct and I have to stay on hold waiting to resolve it. Guess I'll be doing this tomorrow!

To help you relax, the pending charge will sometimes stay pending for a day or two after the 'live' cage processes for some cards. I have one where if I go out to eat and the bill is (for example) $50 and the place where we eat runs a charge for that, the $50 is pending until they run the final amount with any tip I might add. After the final charge is processed and posts (even if I leave cash for a tip) the initial pending charge stays in pending status for a day or two before it goes away.

  2. Many different opinions on what constitutes chair hogging.

However, there is no question about these piggies.

The only questions why are you ASSuming they are being pigs? There coudl be any number of valid reasons they are getting chairs. The fact they got there before you and they grabbed the number of chairs they needed does NOT make them pigs at all. It makes you a fool for ASSuming that they are.

  3. I always laugh very hard when I read a post like this one. Someone gets all righteous and self indignant then writes an 'open letter' to a company, Then to show everyone how how wonderful they are they post it in a public forum like this just and puff up their chest to show everyone that they took a stand and 'did the right thing' all in attempt to make themselves feel better about the whole silliness. Bravo for you... As if!

  4. When a company makes a claim ("gratuity / service charge") it seems more than reasonable to ask for details. I trust companies exactly as much as they trust me . . . not at all.

If a company feels that their business would loose competitive advantage by letting customers know how these fees are split between employees and profit, I would suggest they are in the wrong business. I would be beyond surprised if every other cruise line was not intimately aware of how these sorts of fees are split. No, it is much more likely that the company is withholding this information because if suspects customers might object to the details.

Do you go to dinner and ask the waiter how much he makes and how much he tips out the buss staff and hostesses? seriously this is all NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. If the crew feels under paid they will look elsewhere for work. Jesus people get a freaking life!

  5. Yes Karin. Will deal with it when I get home. Just unfortunate anyone would be so rude. I work for a major online company and if you treated a customer like that once you would be looking for a new job.

Why is it rude for someone to tell you they do not have authority to do something that they do not have the authority to do? It is actually called telling the truth! Imagine that...

  6. There is no on board ART. They have some pretty pictures that they sell but it is far form art. Most of it is simply copies printed on a semi-high end computer printer at best and is worth about the cost of the paper and ink. They throw around the terms 'art', 'original', and 'print' very very loosely.

  7. The snow storm postponed the giveaway of the cruise vouchers but we are going this Saturday to the rescheduled event. I hope that the sailings offered fit our schedule perfectly. If not we may just have to adjust our schedule! :D
