On another site that they don't like us to mention, people have been saying they are having trouble booking a room the night before our November 12, 2017 sailing. I've looked online and can't find anything about a festival or other event. Does anyone know what is going on that weekend?
thanks
Karen

We did this itinerary last April. It was warm for the first day at sea but then was colder. If you find a spot out of the wind and in the sun it's great. We were on he Celebrity Solstice and the pool bar was a perfect spot [emoji3]

Having never been to New Orleans, was the French Quarter in walking distance?
We will be going next year for my 50th Birthday & 15th anniversary and was wondering whether to find something in the French Quarter or something that within walking distance to the French Quarter and the port if it even possible.

I booked a cove balcony today to take advantage of the 50% deposit. I'm looking forward to trying the cove balcony

It could have been a mistake. If it was put as $5 they could have seen the $ as a 5 and entered it as 55

To expand on what we enooy about balconies, we love to sit on the balcony and have our coffee in the am as well as a cocktail in the evening. Also we enjoy the balcony to get away from the crowds and read and listen to music.

We are looking at the Dream for a 50th birthday and our 15th anniversary. I've been reading reviews, searching info on staterooms, etc.
This would be the first time on Carnival for us. We usually book a balcony and from looking at deck plans some balconies are better than others.
Any advice from the experienced carnival cruisers out there on staterooms?

this seemed to be a great site to check as well for ports: http://ports.cruisett.com/
While they do seem to have all the info it isn't always accurate as others have stated. Which is why I check the actual port website for that location.

We also did an inside for our honeymoon (first cruise). Our second cruise was a Panama Canal and we were told by many we needed a balcony, we were hooked.
Our third cruise, Alaska we booked a balcony, got a cheap up sell to a suite, ended up in an aft wrap on the Zuiderdam . The balcony was HUGE.
Can't afford a suite on our next cruise, but we lucked out on a larger balcony on the hump of the Celebrity Solstice.
Don't think we could ever do an inside again [emoji4]

I look at each port and go to that port's website. Found that is the most accurate. As some said cruisett isn't always very accurate

We always get sucked in on this one. We have fun with it each time [emoji1] even though we don't win much [emoji15]

We are doing a combination land and cruise in Hawaii. We leave in just over 2 weeks. We are starting off in Kauai for a week, then heading to Oahu for a couple of days. We will board Celebrity Solstice in Honolulu and have stops in Maui (overnight), Kona and Hilo. Then it's 5 days at sea to Vancouver. In all the trip is 19 days.
This trip could be done in reverse. Solstice goes from Vancouver to Hawaii in September and you could add a land portion after.

I was thinking New Orleans. :)
I am the only cruiser in our family, so for my 50th next year we are going to New Orleans [emoji1]

You can also look into the luau at the Hale Koa. It is a military hotel luau but we found the luau to be very entertaining and very good. We do no have military affiliation but were able to get in by contacting them and because not a busy night were able to get in.

We booked our April 2016 cruise in October 2014 in Canadian $. Am I ever glad we did that. With the current exchange our cruise would cost us over $2000 more. The exchange will hurt us on or condo bookings for 9 days before the cruise but we have been saving for a long time for this so will be ok.

We are staying in Kauai for a week before our cruise from Oahu to Vancouver. We already have our luau booked and want to do a sunset dinner cruise on the Na Pali coast. Does anyone have any recommendations from your experiences?

We took an up sell from a veranda to an aft wrap Neptune suite on our Alaska cruise last year. It was worth every penny! We had fabulous views, the concierge in the Neptune lounge was fabulous. We had an amazing time that we can only hope to repeat someday [emoji1]
Enjoy your trip and all the experiences you will have!

I grew up drinking well water, today most people would say that well water isn't safe. I'm ashamed to say I bought into the whole bottled water craze and had a water cooler In the house with the big 10 gallon bottles that I could barely lift. We got rid of it and now drink tap water. The water on any ship is safe to drink. Bring a reusable water bottle and fill it up from the tap.

When we were in Waikiki a few years ago we went to the Hale Koa luau. We are not military, we called their entertainment office and went as "guests" of the hotel. There were quite a few empty seats so they try to fill them.
Aft balcony on Legend in Alaska... Will I be disappointed?

Make sure you have binoculars. We had an aft wrap on our Alaska cruise and watched a huge pod of grey whales for a long time before they were out of sight on the way to Juneau. It was also great at the glacier
