it came out right around the time that ports were turning away ships and people were complying about not being able to cancel.

if I recall correctly, RC came out the same day with the offer to rebook but no OBC for those who stayed with their current booking.

So they are trying to entice people not to cancel with $200, that’s sad.

I don’t believe it is supposed to change people minds but is a bonus for those who don’t.

it appears there are lots of people who are willing to get on a ship. My cruise is not quite sold out but is mostly and has stayed that way for days now. At this point I am still willing to go but I am monitoring the situation.

I don’t know why this is a knock against Carnival. I thought they are doing pretty decent by allowing people to cancel and get future cruise credit in situations where cancelling otherwise would have meant losing 75-100% of the cost of the cruise.
and the $200 is a nice bonus to those who still want to go.

Were they going to give on board credit before the Corona Virus outbreak and people started canceling or just since they noticed that people were canceling and the CDC recommends that no one should cruise at this time? I know I didn't hear about the $200 until last week.

  3. So Carnival offering $200 onboard credit to passengers is that supposed to change peoples mind if they want to cancel? Do they really think people would go on a ship with 5000 people and take a chance that someone has the virus and the ship would have to be quarantined. I was going to cruise on Carnival in May of this year but I canceled, no way I'm going to Italy even with $200 on board credit. This would have been my first cruise on Carnival now I know why I never sailed on Carnival.

  4. We were on the Escape the sailing before yours and there were a lot of coughing people on that ship. I mean really coughing. We changed seats a couple of times in the theater because of people coughing without covering their mouths.

We are still sick, just got back from the Dr again, still coughing, weezing and sneezing, had a treatment in the Dr.s office for the weezing also prescribed an inhaler, cough medicine, and pritasone. Dr said we have a bad case of the flu.

  5. Hope you're feeling better

Curious if any of you who are ill received the flu vaccine? Not looking at the vaccine as a reason for illness - curious if the vaccine worked against the flu strain

This is the first time I have had the flu, I never took a flu shot for that reason. Maybe next year I will.

  6. A lot of the discussion, in fairness, is being perpetuated by people who seem to be interested not in trying to actually have a discussion but instead to question why other people like what they like. You know, imagine a poster who posts nothing on cc for a couple of weeks except for multiple posts in this thread pretending to be curious why people care about eating in their cabin, but really just trying to imply that they shouldn't care about it. One could see how that might tend to keep the conversation going that would otherwise likely end of its own accord.

People like to eat things other than the few room service choices on their balconies. It's important to them. There's nothing more to see than that. If it doesn't appeal to you, we get it. And get it. And get it. And get it. And get it. Why one would continue to post in a thread about something they purportedly don't care about when there's so many other great topics in CC about stuff they likely do care about is an interesting question.

Exactly, I agree with you.But it has been entertaining.

  7. I disagree. I eat on my balcony. So eating on my cabin balcony is the same as eating on my balcony at home, which I also do.

Then again, if you sleep at all on your cruise, you might as well stay home and sleep in your bedroom.

And if you eat at all at the the main dinning room, you might as well stay home and eat in your dinning room at home.

And if you read at all on a cruise, you might as well stay home and read.

If you swim at all on a cruise, you might as well stay home and swim in your own pool.

In fact, following your logic, there is no reason to go on a cruise at all. In fact, following your line of thinking, there is no reason to leave home at all.

Actually, eating in your cabin is one of the options. If I want to eat in a restaurant, I can do that at home, so why should I eat at one of the restaurants?

Truthfully I have never seen so much discussion where people like to eat. I'm beginning to think it may be a great idea if more people ate in there cabins, this way the restaurants would be less crowded.
