  1. Hi everyone.

I'm new here so if this has been asked or needs to moved to a different area please let me know.

There is a lot said about everyone's favorite food, excursions and entertainment on a cruise ship, but I had a question about what people like to do that isn't discussed as much.

I've only been on a couple cruises but I found on the last one (Ruby Princess) that one of my favorite things to do, that was incredibly simple, was to wake up very early (the time difference from home helped me with this) and simply roam the ship before almost anyone was up.

For whatever the reason it was one of my best memories, even though we had a terrific time with everything else during the cruise. I think it was the solitude on such an incredibly busy and large ship that made it seem like my own, that was part of the attraction.

I would rarely ever see anyone beside a skeleton staff up when I was up (around 4am) and the darkness of the ocean or the glint of the lights of an approaching port was almost surreal.

Maybe I'm nuts but maybe there are a few others on the forum that had similar "off the beaten path" memories.

  2. So you are saying the listed time for port arrival is ship time, which they keep at Eastern time through the voyage?

Not worried about the departure/arrivals, just interested in the workings and logistics of the cruise ships.

We sailed on the Ruby to St. Thomas a couple years ago, but it wasn't our honeymoon trip. It was a family get together and we had about 20 of us on the ship. Lots of fun, but definitely not what I would call a honeymoon :)

  3. Hi everyone. Just joined so if this isn't in the right forum area please let me know.

I have been watching the deck cam of the Caribbean Princess each day (counting the days until we leave on our honeymoon cruise) and noticed today that it was scheduled to depart 6pm but didn't leave until 8pm eastern (9pm Atlantic time). A three hour delay.

Can anyone know why this happened or in general why it might happen on other cruises?

    Thanks!
