I'm interested in gopro...I had a great Sony underwater camera and it broke recently. Most underwater cameras as cruddy quality. Trying g to decide what to get...

Background is I'm a professional portrait photographer but I have never used gopro of even seen one in person.

 

Here's my wants from new camera and also my questions

 

Wants

1 great underwater photos

2 take videos

3 durable

4 easy to use while swimming etc and not overly complicated

 

Questions

1 Do people use this just to take photos or do people only use it for video? they use both

2 is it hard to take photos w no viewfinder? no not at all due to the wide angle lens you just hold and shoot

3 is it complicated? I know lots about photography but don't have times of time to learn a while new field If you have no time to learn anything, you know the answer already. takes a few times to remember where thigns are, but not when its on a Wi-Fi app

4 what mounts are necessary for swimming and stuff like that? head strap, chesty strap, floaty, monopod floaty grip

5 does it come w waterproof case Yes

6 is editing videos difficult? I have no knowledge of video recording quality etc...I assume it's great quality if your pc/mac is old yes codecs wrong software not to date, you will need the requirements to meet or higher. you make thev ideo look great, not gopro camera see the gopro videos they are MODIFIED!

7 what model do I need? gopro hero4 silver.

8 is there another High quality waterproof camera out there? That takes videos? Loved Sony but hard to use touchscreen w wet hands and inside photos using flash weren't great. yes the CUBE by Polaroid

Well they say the gopro hero 3 is the todays camera, and the gopro hero 4 is the beyond camera.

$419.00 will be the price to buy at, not $500.00 and less a penny

watch out for th next gopro to be released in Feburary 2015. the gopro Hero 4+ with added features and some extra settings.

October 8th 2014, the gopro Hero 4 will be sold.

The work around to this will be , Prizmia, will work like a charm, something to look into, before you decide what to do?

Gopro official site has not addressed the issue. or feel it is a threat. publically it will hurt them, but I am sure many tweeted and facbooked it. Lol good luck in the fix guys

Mt wife and I are going on our first cruise in February (Serenade of the Seas). I noticed that RCCL says that iced tea, lemonade, and water is free, but soda cost $3. Why is there an extra charge for soda? Is this a logistics thing, or just a way to get a few extra bucks off the passengers? Just curious...

Smatree, they make a interesting product or products, I found other products that are similar, but no where near the same material, or craftsmanship.

Feiyu-Tech, they make the main 2 and 3 axes gimbals for the gopro, while other companies rebadging, the sticker with their own company name, for example; Swiftcam, is one to name that few?

I have been following this thread. Good information! I have never tried a Time Lapse with just photos. So I figured I would give it a try, so this past Saturday I set up the Go Pro on the Deck and let it take one picture per second for one hour capturing the clouds rolling by. This was also the first time I tried my hand at the Go Pro Studio. Had to google on how to get the Go Pro Bumper. Also tried a Sunset on the South Shore of Prince Edward Island. Will post that a little latter.

 

I am liking the idea of this time lapse photo thing for our up coming Celebrity Silhouette March Cruise.

Do not tell anyone March 2015 camera is set for Pre-order. They were ready to release in October, and were trying their hardest For September 9th 2014 with Apple.

Camera products are release info is around Feb 2013,.

There are a couple of videos on YouTube from Phantom quads following cruise ships out to sea at Port Everglades. I doubt any ship's crew would take kindly to a quad launching and recovering from on board. However, I don't see why they'd have a problem if you just brought one along to use off the ship on a port visit.

FAA rules and regulations apply, Check them out. AMA guidelines are to be followed, check them out/ And in the USA Being within limits of a cruise line or ship. May wind you up with more than you bargained.
