  1. What do you mean by "recent"? If you go back through the cruise reviews you will see reviews from earlier in the year when the ship was last in Cuba.

At the moment it's on it's way back from Greece, where it's been for the last 6 months or so (not sure how long exactly).

I just saw a post on fb that it's a couple of hours out from Montego Bay right now. Then this season's Cuba cruises will start and we'll get some new reviews coming through.

  2. Diane - It was a UK company called Noble Caledonia. The ship was the Serenissima with a maximum of 100 passengers though there were only 62 passengers on board for our cruise which sailed from Grand Cayman to Antigua. Here is a photo of our ship. It's the one in the middle.

I didn't realise there was one in the middle until I had another look, lol. Sounds like fun!

  3. There doesn't appear to be a lot in the Port of Call forum on St. Tropez.

I was there mid August last year, on a Princess excursion from Toulon. Part of the excursion was supposed to be a boat trip around Port Grimaud, but it was cancelled so we missed out on that. We were lucky we were there on a market day (Tuesday and Saturday mornings I think) so we just had a wander around the market and around the town.

It wasn't a really interesting place to visit, but we had a nice day.

  4. I was there a couple of weeks ago on the Island Princess - Mykonos on the 20th August, then Istanbul, Kusadasi and Athens on the days following. It was around 90 each day and humid.

I would have preferred late September but had the same issue as you - I had to go in August because of work.

It was hot and sweaty, just make sure you have a hat and stay hydrated and stay in the shade where you can. Having a little fan from the souvenir shops to fan yourself with also helps, I wore out a couple.

If I had the chance to go again and only August was available - I'd be there in a flash, I don't regret it one bit!

  5. I recently had my first cruise on the Island Princess, a Grand Med cruise. We chose anytime dining because I never know what time I'll be hungry, and as someone else said - it's a vacation, I don't want to be told when to eat!

Anytime Dining worked just fine for us, but we didn't want to eat early. We ate any time from 7.30 to 9.30 and only had to wait once. That was on a formal night when everyone was there. We were given a buzzer and had to wait about 15 minutes. Every other night we got it straight away, no wait, even on nights when people in front of us were given a buzzer and told the wait would be 1 hour. The difference was that they wanted a table for 2, and we were happy to share with anyone.
  6. I have a 28 degrees card which I got earlier this year. I've been using it to pay for overseas bookings and purchases, and recently had an email telling me I'd saved $91 on international purchases in the last 6 months :)

I recently opened a Citibank Everyday Plus account to use overseas too, after I'd read reviews online.

I was going to get a travelcard of some sort but after researching, they really don't sound like such a good deal. They're useful to lock in your money if the exchange rate is really good, but I'm not going to have the cash available until just before travel time anyway.

  7. I remember when we are on the Regal in 1995 and we saved a fisherman from Puerto Rico that had been lost at sea for several weeks. My husband was jogging on the track when another passenger asked him to "look out there" with his binoculars and see if he saw something. Sure enough they did and immediately contacted the bridge.

The bridge looked and agreed something was out there. The ship then turned around to save the guy. He had been fishing in his tiny fishing boat when a storm hit. He had been drifting for weeks eating bait and drinking rain water. His family had already had the funeral.

We got him and his boat on the Regal where he was able to contact his family who of course was in shock. He also was given a great meal, steak and lobster night.

We then went to Puerto Rico and met up with the Coast Guard who took him and his boat to shore. It was a great feeling to know that this man was back home with his family:)

What a great story cheeseclan :)

  8. I had been trying to decide between two cruises this fall.

I decided to book them both a few months ago and make a decision closer to final payment. One through a call to Princess myself, explaining what I was doing. The other through my travel agent, so did not know about the other cruise.

Made my decision and informed my travel agent a few days ago to go ahead and pay my cruise and air in full.

Now for the costly error. I assumed that if I did not cancel the other cruise, when final payment came due yesterday it would simply get cancelled and the deposit I made with my future cruise deposits would be put back.

Today I noticed that it was still showing even though a notice said that if not paid in full by July 6th, yesterday, it would be cancelled.

I decided to call Princess and was told that now that the date has passed that my deposit was non refundable. Hard lesson to learn.

Is the cruise you are going on with Princess as well? If so, I would contact them and tell you have booked a cruise with them but made a mistake with the deposit on this one. If you are very nice, they may be very nice in return :) It's not like they are not going to get any money out of you, they will still make thousands from you I'm sure! Maybe ask for an OBC if a refund isn't available, as someone above suggested.
