  1. Just returned off Reflection and were in accessible room 12190 and heard trolleys rolling back n forth early each morning in prep. for Oceanview breakfast. DW is partially deaf so no issues for her but I am light sleeper so had to change room to deck 11 after two nights of restless sleep.

  2. I think each cruiser must weigh the pro's and con's to current and ever changing conditions to a cruise vacation. To some the joy is just being on a ship and others too many restrictions to make enjoyable.

I just got off Symphony and to me felt like a ship close to capacity and with many venues having reduced seating it was a challenge to schedule or enjoy shows. Many areas  were encouraged to wear a mask but when bars were open there was no guidance. Elevators were packed , not always. but few paid attention to capacity guidelines. I have no issue wearing a mask but cant tell you how many times I left cabin and got half way down hall before realizing my mistake and turned back around. So just saying "it ain't the cruising" I recall and will wait for CALMER seas before trying again.

  3. Not a smoker or gambler but DW does gamble and when I stop by to see how much we’re losing I’m always amazed how many are milling around smoking without gambling. Some are at casino bar but many more just smoking and chatting in groups. Wife says she would gamble more but has to leave to avoid smoke so perhaps I should be grate😉ful

The last year or so it was unlimited drinks 5-7pm for elite happy hour on your sea pass.  The best is we get a discount on the upgrade.  That has been a perk for years!!

'"I think new plan includes unlimited drinks during happy hour,

Now, you’ll be able to enjoy unlimited drinks from the Captain’s Club menu daily from 5pm to 7pm at bars and lounges throughout your ship"

  5. My take is its more about cost savings than a concern over social distancing. Its one less venue  that needs to be staffed and serviced with meal provisions. While I'm sure each cruise and each ship is different its been my experience that WJ evening buffet is lightly attended, food wasted,  and usually a place for officers and the like to grab a meal. If ships cruise at less than capacity something has to give and the almighty dollar dictates cutting back.  The more one cuts the fewer areas available for social distancing,,,so best of luck cruise lines with that dilemma.

I actually think Mariner will be one of the first ships back in service.  Sails short runs from Central Florida (less impacted by COVID than South Florida).  I hope so anyway, as I want to be on it as soon as it sails.

For those scheduled I hope she does sail soon I just remain skeptical if it will be before years end . I guess the CDC will determine that soon. Happy and Safe cruising all.

  7. Is it just me or is no one concerned about cruise lines remaining in operation.?? CCL reported this morning as expected:

-- Carnival (CCL) (CUK), a cruise operator, reported pre-market Tuesday an adjusted fiscal Q3 net loss of $1.7 billion, compared with adjusted earnings of $1.82 billion in the prior-year period.

They reportedly have 8.2 billion in cash and equivalents but with a burn rate approx 6-7 million this shutdown has got to be causing some angst.  I cant wait for my next scheduled cruise in June but Covid may turn out to be the least of my worries if lines are no longer in operation.  I guess as usual TIME WILL TELL.
