  1. Bake in the the bacon price.  As far as popcorn, I’ve seen it all over water before from kids.   At least now it’s treated differently.  I’ll find out this week as we’re back in the Horizon.

I agree Carnival gives you the best value for the dollar. In fact I found heir food exceptional on our July cruise.

also never had a bad cruise and been on many. It’s what we make it.

I got off the Breeze last week.  I asked Guest Services and they said they could sail at 70% Capacity.

We were spoiled not having any lines after going through the first security/COVID screening line at check-in.  Frankly that cruise might have spoiled us forever.  Dirt cheap fare, no lines, few kids, and tremendous service since it appeared the crew is at 100%.  Unlike other posts, we were in and out of the MDR (6pm dining) in less than 70 minutes, including 5-10 minute of chit-chat with our table mates at the end.   Pretty much downhill from there as capacity increases.

    Agreed....

  3. "You'll be paying for your "specialty" dinner next.....it's coming.....

I never said I had an issue with Carnival and cruise them due to budgets as well and have sailed many of other lines....

I ain't gonna get in a debate, just saying serve up better popcorn and I'll pay more and size it up....I'm grateful they are still serving as Disney would not on our Sept cruise.  But we had bacon whenever we wanted it.....not supply issue there.....

Use every prop or excuse seems to be a common thread and once adaptoped, there is no going back....fact of life....again my opinion which I'm entitled too......

  4. So, we've all heard the John heald speal on Popcorn and Bacon.

Popcorn, oh, well we'll look into upgrade the brand and size and possible price - right, ain't going to change, it will always cost us going forward.  I have no issue with it and would look forward to an upgrade.

Bacon, funny how this has gone quiet with no news of Carnival "bellying" up to providing it every day.  Carnival just saving their pennies and take every angle.

That's what we get with the Wal-Mart of cruise lines.

I'll just adjust and be happy, just don't need to hear the things are rosey or "brilliant" ****.

I understand the business and own shares too.

I've enjoyed this forum over the years and the discussions we've had. I just want to say if I ever meet any of you on a cruise I'd be happy to buy you a drink. Just come up to me and introduce yourself.

That is a very nice gesture....on rare time I'm an ass on the boards, but most the time, respectful.....

just a few members that always argue my point of view....

The boards are a wealth of information, just get dumbfounded on the obvious stuff....but nonetheless, your spot on with your comment

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Yeah - right next to the ice hockey rink - okay I'm a smart ass....I did not see them when we were on in July.....search the ships deck plans on google, that will help.

Hopefully someone else can be of help....have fun in Nov!!!!

We are doing trick or trick on her tomorrow....I'll peak around the sports deck....If I'm not back to you that means no they don't

  7. If you get Covid and are detected, they will put you in a room they have sectioned off on the ship.....that's all I've seen....

We've sailed twice and are going tomorrow for another 8 day cruise....we've watched the CDC ship status since the beginning....most ships are in the green which has been that way for a awhile - good for Carnival for doing what they are doing....you're always going to have a one off.

We sailed the Horizon July 24 and the Disney Fantasy early Sept....the Disney ship has been in the yellow since....they'll get it right....

But I'm sure you'll be fine....just use common sense, wash and mask up inside....no need to outside imo

    Sometimes 'less is more."

In addition, it would be better for the environment and marine life if visitors didn't discard their toys, floaties and other "throw away stuff" while on these beautiful, yet fragile islands.  Maybe reconsider bringing at least some of these disposable items.

They'll go in the carnival trash cans

To help you plan, we suggest you limit your luggage to a maximum of one bag per person, if traveling on cruises of 3-5 days duration, and no more than two bags per person, for cruises of 6 days or longer. In addition, you must personally carry-on any boarding documentation (passports, Visas, I.D), valuables, medications and items which require special handling.

Guests who are scheduled to arrive at the terminal before 1:30 PM, usually check their bags with a porter so they can be free to enjoy lunch on Lido Deck before access to their stateroom is granted.
I think it's pretty clear.......from the Carnival website.
Checked baggage service is only available until 2 hours before the ship's published sailing time (printed in the cruise documents).  Guests arriving after this time will be responsible for taking their bags on board.

Each checked suit case and carry-on suit case should not weigh more than 50 pounds, and when lying flat, bags must not exceed 16 inches high by 24 inches wide (the length of the bag is not a factor). For security screening purposes, all luggage should be unlocked. Oversized luggage and locked luggage may cause delivery delays.

Personalized luggage tags are included in the guest’s Electronic Documents (available once online check-in is completed). It is not necessary to print the tags in color.

Carnival luggage tags must be affixed to your baggage prior to arriving at the terminal.  Additional tags can be obtained at curbside from the porter. Porters will re-tag any luggage tag with a TBA cabin assignment.

Curbside porters are customarily provided a $1 tip per bag.  They are not employees of Carnival and should a guest experiences any problems, they must report it to porter management on site.

Since the screening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment to the boarding and security screening process, large coolers are not permitted as carry-on or checked luggage. Small, personal-sized coolers, no larger than 12 inches x 12 inches x 12 inches, for the purpose of housing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages and/or medications are permitted as carry-on luggage.

I read the policy - that’s why I posted. The words should and ahall are governing rules.
Thank anyway. 40 cruises an heaviest bag ugh.

  10. Thank you all. I have a soda bag I’m putting a few things that will carry on.
we will be lighter going home.
suntan lotion / beverages / many toiletries used up / blow up rafts to toss later / throw away stuff too.

I’ve cruises many times since 1989 and this is my heaviest.

  11. Sorry in a jam. With no time to research.
so asking here is there a weight limit that is strict with carnival for luggage.
I read they said SHOULD which is different than SHALL weight 50 lbs.  I’m busting at 60 and don’t want to take two bags

I normally would but last time getting off the ship was hard being old with my carry off.

    Please help.
    Thank you.

  12. We've heard of certain seats being removed on some Carnival Ships.

We are cruising on the Horizon next week and enjoy the Piano Bar Lounge.  We sailed her on the July 24th this year with no seats issue, just a full room due to the talent.

Have the seats around the piano bar or bar itself been affect - removed or limited???

Thank you for your assistance. and knowledge.

We'll be driving to a Carnival cruise in January. It's going to be hard to get to the port at an exact time due to driving. We don't know our check-in time yet, but if we get there early or late (but before the final boarding), how strict are they in this COVID era about your arrival time? Can you still arrive earlier than your time or if we get there early will we have to kill time before going to the port?  Thanks!

If your gong to Miami your fine but Carnival does ask out of respect for all that you arrive on your allocated time. we sailed Disney in September and they were very strict making you go off campus.  I don’t think anything has changed at Miami and we’ll be there Saturday morning for our sailing.

The Mardi Gras casino hosts have made some reservations for me - Steakhouse one night, a 75 minute massage, etc.

On the Breeze recently, the wait staff didn't bring me a slip to sign for my dinner (by the Breeze host) as the dinner and wine bottles were casino paid.

Other than leaving cash on the table, how does one tip the wait/ spa staff in this situation? On the Breeze I had cash and was able to have someone in my party run down to the room for it while I finished dessert...  on this sailing I guess I could withdraw cash at the ATM (or cash out some from my player card), but I'm guessing it shouldn't be that involved...

(And one person I spoke with told me the casino paid the tip also...)

How does this work on Carnival?

Good for you....brag more....spend more in the casino.....why ask?  just leave what you know you should!
I hate post like these self boosting with more money than......

I have a cruise coming up in 2 weeks. Initially I planned on doing the telemedicine at home Covid tests. We have 3 people going from my family so I figured purchasing 2 boxes of the twin pack would work. However I’ve been told each box has to be registered to the same person so we’d need to purchase 3 boxes at $69 each. This adds up quickly although it would be much less stress.

Tomorrow is the day we could schedule a CVS rapid test to ensure we’d get the results in time for our cruise. For anyone that has scheduled a Covid appointment at CVS do you know what time they open the new test appointments? I’m thinking that if it’s midnight I may stay up tonight although mot ideal.

Thanks for any input from actual experiences.

I just called EMed and they said we could use each test for my wife and I, as long as we each have an Navica account.  This is for the Abbott Lab BinaxNow Test kits - 2 kits for $69.

I wasn’t quoting you specifically.  The title of  this thread is “once a day housekeeping”.   I was responding in general and simply contrasting what other cruise lines do in comparison.

Okay - sorry, respect that and we know what Carnival does.  We adjust and have a great time and move on.....Holland American, Disney, and NCL spoil us a bit more....RCL is going more of the other route lately.....
