  1. Hi,

I am looking at booking a 5 night Bermuda cruise from Cape Liberty. I have looked at the Country Inn, but their prices are closer to the 300 range. We are sharing a room with another couple but found out that we'd have to pay another 70 for two additional transfers. I'm not cheap, but over 300 for one night and two extra transfers is more then I am willing to pay.

I was thinking about looking into a hotel around the airport and just paying to park at the port. Or looking at a hotel further from the city and still just driving in and park at the port. Looking for 3 stars and up.

We are driving from the Akron area.

    What would you recommend?

  2. It can't get much more budget friendly than this:

The Fish Fry area is good for lunch.

I've done this whole turn around with 6 people, on our own, within 5 hours. That even includes sitting to eat and some shopping time at the straw market.

Thank you for posting this satellite picture. I'e been trying to pick things for my hubs and I to do in Nassau. Never realized how close the beach was to the port.

  3. Hubby and I taking a last minute cruise on the 1st to Freeport and Nassau. He has never been to the Bahamas and I have never been to Freeport. We are planning on going to the Grand Lucayan in Freeport. This is my 6th cruise, but first with Carnival.

I have been to Nassau twice. But that was in 2002 and 2006. We plan on walking about the downtown area but I would like to do something else. I am not impressed with the Nassau excursions that Carnival offers for Nassau. I know the straw market isn't what it used to be. I do plan on stopping at the Tortuga rum cake shop if that is still open. In 2002 my family and I shopped and wondered the newly built Atlantis. In 2006 we shopped and went to something called or around the name of Black Beards Cay booked though Royal.

We are only there 8-5. I am frustrated with my recent experiences with Royal which is why we decided to give Carnival a try.

What would you recommend that is affordable and fun and relaxing? A few hours at the beach would be great, but all the day passes are more then I am willing to spend for a few hours.

    Thank you!!!

  4. Hi,

Looking to take last minute cruise within the next couple weeks leaving from Port Canaveral. I'm thinking of parking at the port. I found one park and cruise place that is from 9 dollars a day. Where would you recommend parking? We will be going to the Enchantment of the Seas.

    Thanks!

  5. We're going to be driving down from Boston to Baltimore and are looking for a "Park and Cruise" package, hopefully one near the Inner Harbour so we can have a little fun the night before. So far I've found several "Stay and Cruise" packages (Room & transfer to/from the port), but we need to park our car as well. All I've found is one at a SleepInn ($150 + $15/night --where's the value there? The cruiseport parking is $15/night), and a Holiday Inn Express ($195/night, parking for more than 8 days, $7/day). Does anyone have any other suggestions/recommendations?

We are staying at the Sleep Inn. Their website said free parking with the package.

  6. Yes, you are correct. The beach is about 20-30 min walk from the port (depending on how fast you walk). If you do not wish to walk you could also catch the public transport and have the driver drop you off at the bus stop.

There are some other posts outlining more info on the beach but if you're unable to find the related information, I'll be glad to share more information.

I just found one of the posts about how to get to the beach. Didn't think to look before I posted, lol. But thank you!

  7. Hi,

I will be in Bermuda next week!!!! My parents went a few years ago to sea glass beach that they said was about 20min walk from the port.

Anyone else know about it, or how to get there?

    Thanks!

  8. Summer clothing. People don't dress according to the calendar date, they dress according to the weather conditions (after all summer months in the Northern Hemisphere are winter months in the Southern Hemisphere), and the A/C on the ship keeps it about the same temperature in September as it does in July.

The average air temperature in Bermuda in September through mid October is not much different than it is in July and August.

Good to know! I was wondering the same question that was posted. I'll be in Bermuda in October and have been trying to figure out what I should pack. Glad to know all my cute sundresses will be ok to bring.

  9. Good point...I didn't think about the other people who would be pretending. That makes it to much for the cruise line to handle. Thankfully, my fiance and I are not big on being the center of attention. We aren't trying to score free a bunch of free things. I just remember in the past seeing staterooms decorated for occasions and wasn't sure if that was still done. It was always Royals items, I'm just note sure if it had to be bought or not.

    Thank you for your help

  10. Enjoy your cruise and congrats. We took the 6 night to Bermuda last year in late Sept to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Great cruise - my only complaint that it was only 6 days, not 7 :)

Thank you!!! My parents went a couple years ago but went out of Jersey and loved Bermuda. We are very excited! Any suggestions for Bermuda? We plan on going to the zoo and aquarium, the crystal caves and one of the sea glass beaches. I think our full day there we will go about the island ourselves. I am looking at one of the glass bottom boat tours for our first night on the island.

  11. I am getting married on the 27th and our honeymoon cruise leaves out of Baltimore 10/10 and heading to Bermuda.

We booked a Jr. Suite. This is the first time my fiance is going on a cruise. It took him some talking into for the cruise, but after my parents, friends and family who also cruise told him how wonderful they are, he agreed. And thankfully he is now really looking forward to our trip next month. I'd like to do something special for him since.

When I booked, they asked if I was celebrating anything. I told them this was for our honeymoon. Is there anything that they do special for this? Or would my fiance and I have to buy packages?

    Thanks!

  12. Yes that is true. Have sailed from Baltimore several times and have always arrived back by 7 or even earlier. Self debarkation is always going on by 7:30.

We do usually begin boarding around 11 am but our rooms are always ready around 1 pm. Never later than that.

Nice to know the time to board. We are driving from Akron and are not sure yet if we will leave Thursday afternoon or very early Friday morning since it is about a 6 hour drive. I would prefer to stay over night in Baltimore though.

Is the self debarkation something I need to sign up for previous to boarding? It has been so long I can't remember all the details lol.

  13. Hello there,

After a very long seven years without a cruise, I am finally taking one next month for my honeymoon. This will be my fiance's first cruise and my first time leaving from Baltimore. We will be going to Bermuda on a 6 night cruise!

Since it has been so long and I am leaving from a new port what are some tips you may have for Baltimore.

I am doing the online check in.

    Thank you!
