  1. Just had a thought regarding your upgrade. If you go for the suite guarantee and they rearrange other S2 passengers by offering them up sells, you could end up under the Oceanview Cafe with a fully shaded balcony. It could also be accessible which means no bathtub. I like sun and baths, so for me that would not be a $5k suite.

  2. That's what we were thinking, but we've only sailed as high as concierge class so we didn't know if the extra suite benefits were worth it.

We tried a corner aft S1 in January and have no regrets and thoroughly enjoyed the extra square footage, the bathtub, the Bulgarian toiletries, the butler bringing tea, and the ambiance of Luminae and Michael's Club, but it would need to be a special occasion or a super deal before we would do it again.

  3. If you love your 1A, then keep it. Once you are on board use the OBC to upgrade your drink package, buy an internet package, and reserve specialty restaurants if you don't want to do the main dining room every night. $2179 will almost get you another cruise.

  4. Molecular Bar was never as popular as Martini Bar. Not sure what direction Celebrity is taking with World Class Bar because in January we did not have a chance to check it out. Not a huge crowd at WCB when we did walk by. Most people congregated at the Martini Bar. We spent most of our time in Michael's Club.

  5. On a three night sailing I would just take the two bottles per stateroom you are allowed to bring aboard, and if he goes through that, buy by the glass from then on.

Can the two bottles of wine he brings on board be the 1.5L size? Sorry I never had to concern myself as I always had the premium package. Thanks again!

  6. Can someone direct me to where I can get more info on the wine packages available on board Infinity. I could not see any recent info on here and Celebrity's website is vague. Not logged in price is listed per package. Logged into my cruise planner price is listed per adult. How many bottles are included? Looks as if it is simply a flat percentage off on board list prices. Asking for friend joining us on a three night sailing with no drink package and he only drinks wine. Seasoned cruisers: any clarification will be much appreciated.

  7. My first experience with the Tuscan menu back in January on the Sillie left something to be desired. Service was all over the place as well. I think I will stick with Blu and Qsine this time around.

  8. Norris, Thanks for doing the review. Your pictures and commentary help me imagine being back on the Silhouette. I am glad you had a good first Celebrity experience and will consider the line in the future. With regard to your question regarding the Millenium, I was on the Connie post-solsticization. It is the same class of ships so I would be happy to try and help. The aft outdoor public areas do not compare, but it is still a great class of ships. Our A1 stateroom was on Deck 11 aft. We loved the easy access to the Sunset Bar and the Oceanview Cafe. Keep up the great work on here! Paul

  9. Paul- we were in car 4 on the train. Very enjoyable trip. I have video of the girls singing beautifully-pitch perfect harmonies which I'll embed in my review. Such talent and enthusiasm there! Nice people involved in that excursion-both the train crew and the catamaran guys.

Can't wait to see the video. There were awesome!

  10. Celebrity iLounge

With all of the on board credit to use, I was giving some serious thought to picking up an iPad mini on board. The iLounge does not seem to be staffed well if at all. There are often are few people waiting for assistance. Many of whom are just unable to follow directions for setting up their on board internet account. We both figured it out. I stopped in when there was one girl working and expressed an interest in the iPad mini 4. She opened the cabinet where they keep the inventory to see what capacities and colors they had. But she said her manager had to ring it up. So I went back another time and he rang it up. He said he had to set it up. I was on my way to meet up with Tim, so I asked him what time he would be working the next day. He said 2 to 5 and 7 to 9. So I went back the next afternoon and he was not there. The girl that was working emailed him and he came and plugged my iPad into his computer to start the process. We wondered why we could not do it in our stateroom since we were on the unlimited package. He said he had to do the set up because of the ship's closed network. Then he said the set up process does not allow you to connect to the internet. He offered no further explanation. His laptop screen did not seem to be moving. He said his computer needed to perform some updates and the process might take an hour. He would have my ipad mini delivered to the stateroom. So we went back to the stateroom for tea, got ready for the evening, and found the iPad on the bed when we got back after dinner. The date had not been set. So we did that and we got my email set up. I started trying it out. This is my first apple product besides my ipod and I am really enjoying it. I think they might sell more on board if the iLounge was better staffed. That's just my opnion.

  11. St Kitts Caribbean Rail & Sail

With OBCN to burn we booked this tour once on board. We waited at the gathering place just off the dock where we were given "Rail and Sail" wristbands and were escorted to out air conditioned bus. Our bus driver Mr. Smith or "Smitty" drove us to the train station pointing out some of the sights along the way without really getting into much historical background as we would have liked. We arrived at thr yrain station and the train was approaching. After everyone from the previous tour got off tge train, he escorted us to car number 2 of the 5 car train. We went up to the upper deck for the best views. The right side of the car as you face forward would be on the sea side so We grabbed seats there. The lower deck of each car was air conditioned and had a bathroom and tables and chairs. Despite other reviews I have read the views were amazing. We took a lot of pictures. Our hostess took our orders and served us our choice of rum punch, strawberry daiquiri, Pina colada, virgin versions, or soft drinks. Then she served sugar cake. An announcer pointed out some of the sites and a lovely trio of singers performed sets on all of the cars throughout the 2+ hour journey around the island. When we reached the train substation on the south side of the island, we were bussed to the boarding area of the catamaran. More drinks were served including beer. A snack of tortilla chips and salsa and more sugar cake was also served. On the catamaran journey back to the cruise port, we enjoyed excellent views of the island and saw 4-5 different rainbows. The crew was very jovial. This was a great tour for us as we had already been to the fort, Romney Manor, and the beach on our last tour of St Kitts. I would highly recommend it.c9c90d02a5d2ea86c26795ee31898e54.jpg7aa9ecd00ad29d8fcb5889866604575b.jpg7d3b578173b29a0f13db6ee29e75ae7f.jpg66e6df3c46891c70df1c33db675fadae.jpgdb4c1d023cad2c1e9c3b6920b6b119ad.jpg687c7cf3c1f995dc10a1fae029623e63.jpg

  12. Paul,

Glad you have enjoyed the cruise. Just realized you are sailing with our friends David and Leigh. Tell them we are saving the 24" of snow we have on the ground for them when they get back.

Glad to have had a wonderful cruise! Very excited to have so many dining options onboard. We will definitely take your advice to not go in the whirlpool first before the pool.

Will pass the word about all of the snow. The ship is as gorgeous as last year. Not sure about crowds at the outside pool. Solarium did not seem that crowded when I went. On a couple different days some of the cushions had been stripped of their covers for cleaning I presume. That was good to see. Doing this on my first apple product, so pardon any typos. Used up all of the remaining shipboard credit on an iPad mini 4. :)

Hope to share more info after we return. Thanks for following.:)

  13. I'm also following with great interest. We board in 1 month; our first Celebrity cruise. We're not in a suite, but have an Aqua Class cabin, and are very much looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks guys! We love Aqua Class and Blu. They staff in there are always having a good time. I enjoyed the Bluberry Pecan Pancakes and Crispy Bacon this morning while looking out the large windows. Enjoy your cruise!

  14. Thank you for all the details. The DH and I will be on her in less than 2 weeks. We are in an AQ1 and I am really jealous that you are getting the Suite Treatment! We can't wait to try the Persian Garden and thermal suites.

How have the pools been? Cold/Warm/Crowded?

Keep the pictures coming! Love cruising vicariously as it is 16º here today!

We made the mistake of going in the whirlpool first. Then the solarium pool felt too cold. The water was great at the beach at Little Bay. Enjoy your aqua room. Blu breakfast was prepared at lightning speed and was delish the one time we tried it this cruise.

  15. Paul, thanks for doing this "Live" report!

It was great to meet you on the Catamaran ride in St Kitts. I enjoyed our chat and the constant flow of drinks!

    Norris

Hi Norris! It was great chatting with you too on the catamaran sailing adventure. Yes, the constant flow of drinks, panoramic views, and sea breezes were a real drag that day weren't they. I am looking forward to catching up on all of your cruise reviews when I have some time. Have a great last two days on the cruise if I don't run into you. Safe travels back to the midwest!
