try Hotwire or Priceline for a room. Good news is Mardi Gras is February 9th so hotels will probably be clearing out the day after. good luck

There are some new hotels in the Covington area around pinnacle parkway. It's about a 50 minute ride crossing over lake ponchartrain to the port. There's a la Quinta and a new holiday inn express in the area.

I really didn't take pics of our room but if you google carnival dream and room number you made find pics that way. We found ours that way and we had handicapped room. The location was fantastic

Just got off the dream. Interior spa cabin. Totally loved being there. Our cabin was next to the spa door deck 11. Motion was only felt one day when cool front came through and the gulf was rough but no one that I know of complained of being sick. We went to the various steam rooms and used the tile loungers. It was great. 3 decks above using the spa elevator and we were on the serenity deck with nice chairs as well as hot tub on each side. It was perfect. We had the spa robes which we wore to the spa and used our spa slippers as well. There were spa towels in our room as well the elemis products mentioned. There were 2 of us in our room so one of us took a shower in our cabin and the other used the spa shower.

Anyone hoping to walk through the river walk to the cruise terminal beware!!! Only ncl and royal Caribbean have elevators to the ground floor of their terminal. Carnival must go out on the balcony and walk way down towards the ship only to find out there are 3 flights of steps to go down to the terminal. No way could we handle that with luggage. It's really sad the port doesn't have a way for carnival cruise passengers to get to the ground level. We had to turn around and go back to the river walk and exit through the food court. We had to get a taxi since it was raining and we had to pay $14.00 to go behind the convention center.

No complaints whatsoever about this ship. Everything exceeded my expectations. Food was very good and plenty of choices during the day. The staff were very attentive. Had a spa room and loved every minute of my time on this ship.
Best Western Plus Westbank

I would hope you wouldn't have to spend 500 in cab fair to get across the river. Best western is not in a bad area. It's the travel time in a cab. Manhattan boulevard has traffic especially late afternoon.
