  1. I just got off as well, and found there was a clear issue with the AC. Our rooms were good, thank goodness (7132 and 7144), but some elevators were swamp-like and a lot of the common areas were warmer than they should have been. Especially the main dining room. I was actually sweating in there some nights and my dad and brother removed their jackets to nearly drenched shirts on the formal nights. It could have been 10 degrees cooler in there.

  2. Do folks just sit around here waiting for opportunities to correct people on things? Rhetorical question. :p

Back to the topic at hand...

    1) the dockyard takes credit cards for passes

    2) the dockyard does not enforce a surcharge for using said cards.

    Excellent.

  3. Just checked by credit card bill and this is what we were charged.

Total price for the bus/ferry pass ticket purchased $ 110.00 for 3 day passes.

(2 adults, 1 kid) My credit card did charged us the $3.30 foreign transaction fee.

OK so that is not a fee from the dockyard. Any credit card will charge you around a 3% foreign transaction fee any time you use the card abroad.

I'm just glad to know they take cards at the dockyard. Thank you!

  4. Just got back from Bermuda on Celebrity this past June.

We paid with a credit card for our bus/ferry passes, there was a service

charge for our transaction. (we were not aware of this) Also when I purchased some local

souvenirs at the Dockyards the lady there gave me change in Bermudian coins.

She told me that unless I had the exact change she could not give me American money back

because she did not have it. I did not

like that I ended up with their coins. Lesson learned.

Was there a service chard from the Dockyard? Or was it standard foreign transaction fees from your card provider?

  5. Just back yesterday and the ferry terminal in Hamilton did indeed have signs everywhere reading 'cash only'. I believe you also need exact change for the bus, but we had a pass so I didn't pay too close attention to that.

Will be bringing plenty of cash, thank you for the updates!

  6. Used to be only cash for the passes but people are saying they now accept credit cards. Shopping will be no different than at home, cash or credit cards. Once, a store even took a check from us but that was highly unusual. Also, there was a time when Discover was not accepted but that too has changed.

    Perfect, thank you so much!

  7. Forgive me if this has already been covered somewhat exhaustively, but I am still confused regarding money in Bermuda, being from the U.S. I have seen many people say that the ferries/buses only take payment of U.S. currency in coins, no paper money. What about at the terminal where you are buying passes? Can you pay with bills? Credit cards?

What about restaurants and shopping? Bills? Credit cards? Leaving in 7 days (:D:D) and trying to get prepared. Thank you!!

  8. When I first stepped on the Silhouette last year, I randomly asked for a mango margarita. I don't think I'd ever even had a mango margarita in my lifetime, but that's what I ordered. Let me tell you...it was one of the best frozen drinks I ever had. Even my snobby NYC foodie brother had one and loved it. Two thumbs up from us (well, four thumbs) :D

  9. Follow up question, since there are so many experts on here. I have 7144, 7142 and 7132. Need to cancel either 7142 or 7132. Any opinions on which is a better choice? I know they are basically the same, but 7142 looks like it's next to a suite that juts out (7140) so wondering if this will be an issue.

    Thank you again!!

  10. Yes, maybe I should upgrade then !! What to do ???

Obviously it depends on each person and their preferences, but I really enjoy: 1) not having the stress of wondering how much my tab would be at the end of a cruise (have had a $600 bill at the end of a 7-day Alaska cruise :D); and 2) never thinking twice about whether what I desire at that very moment falls within the confines of the Classic package.

To me, a real vacation means not having to stress about money. For that reason, I will only book a cruise where I can get some kind of beverage package included and I will ALWAYS spend the extra $80 to upgrade to the premium package.

All this said, I am from NYC and DC and am accustomed to drinks that cost $8-$12, so there is not much sticker shock for me!

  11. Hi there,

I'm on the Summit July 19 and have been researching golf options for my family. I consulted with friends who have traveled to Bermuda before and they all agreed that the Turtle Hill golf course at the Fairmont is the best bet price wise. Port Royal is the best course but it's quite expensive.

Celebrity is offering an excursion for $115.75 that includes green fees and a shared cart. The excursion DOES NOT include transportation.

I think we are going to take a taxi and book a tee time on our own (which is around $89 pp) Hope this is somewhat helpful.

  12. I tried searching for an answer to no avail, so...

Is there any way to remove the barrier between verandas on the Summit? I have three veranda staterooms reserved on an upcoming Bermuda sailing, and we need to cancel one. Two are directly adjacent to one another; the other is a few rooms away. Trying to see if there is any benefit to having an adjacent room to my parents other than the convenience of being next door. It would be fun to be able to share a balcony, but I'm sure I'm dreaming :p

    Thank you!

  13. Good grief. Was dealing with a TA over the past 2 days to book a cruise in July. The TA was adamant that my booking didn't qualify for the $25 123GO deposit special. When I tried to book online it was giving me the $25 deposit option every time I tried, but they wouldn't listen. Then I called Celebrity who also said I was eligible for the $25 deposit. Called the TA back, he said he was on the other line with Celebrity who was saying I don't qualify.

Woke up early this morning to check the Celebrity website, and was not only able to book three rooms for $75 total deposit, but veranda guarantees were suddenly available (they hadn't been, yesterday). Yay!

Now I'm considering transferring the reservation back to the TA, which gives me pause because I don't know if they deserve it with all the obstruction they gave me over the deposit. Though transferring it might get me free gratuities and a $75 OBC. Thoughts?

  14. Posting a bit of it at time, makes a drama queen, and they got their package what is the big deal, , there is almost 3,000 boarding at one time, there going to be screw ups

And raising your voice , what is with that , sounds childish to me

What's the big deal? They just paid thousands of dollars for a vacation and that's not how it should begin. End of story.

  15. I just broke the news about the limes to my mom. Her response: "I have a whole bag of beautiful limes in the fridge, I'm bringing my own damn limes."

I'd like to see someone try and stop this woman. :D
