12-day Joy Panama Canal in 3 weeks...

Anyone know how they handle "hang-to-dry requests" or possibly "return wet"? As there are a few items I would probably not want in a dryer and would prefer hanging in my own cabin.

I would do that type of laundry myself, just to make sure it was hung to dry. Or not even bothering with a garment that has particular instructions, so it doesn’t get ruined.

Also... I am going with another solo. Nothing stopping us from putting what fits from our laundry in one bag, and having it done together, amirite?

There is nothing saying that you cannot combine laundry. They really do not care nor do they have any way of knowing if it is yours or your cabin mates.  My husband and I combine the laundry all the time.

Often times it's a capacity issue.  Many (not all) blocks of cabins have alternating occupancy limits and when looking for a cruise where the algorithm hasn't been removed (typical for far-away dates) you will not be shown the options for cabins not to your occupancy choice.

If you need adjacent (or connecting) cabins, you need to call NCL since you may only book one cabin at a time online.  They may bend the rules and allow you to book actual adjacent cabins with less than full occupancy but don't count on it this far out.  They definitely want to "fill the ship" and selling triple or quad capacity cabins to a duo isn't cost effective (even if the fake "3rd and 4th sail free" promo is in place).

The same applies if your situation is reversed (a triple party looking for adjacent cabins that only hold two).

Not necessarily true.  My husband and I have a 2 bedroom concierge suite booked and it’s booking availability  was never shielded from us nor did we ever have a 3rd or 4th on our mock booking.  Just the 2 of us.

  4. There is a list available to the people who check bags and you will get the correct color affixed when you check your luggage in. It’s happened to us, just tell the porter you don’t know your cabin number as you were upgraded.

  5. Happy Hour Prohibition’s charge is for the alcohol.  It is not free nor it is a dinner show.  My hubby does not drink and he was given the option to have  non alcohol drinks, but the price was the same.  Think of it as a cover charge. It is 3 or 4 drinks that are served during the show. You drink package does not apply at this venue.

  6. That is nice that Princess puts that info out.  NCL has never given me guidance to get a VISA for travel to a foreign port. I hold a US passport. Any questions I would have would be answered via the US State Dept or the foreign countries’  consulate.  Has always been my responsibility to have visa in hand before travel.  Does NZ or Aus not have a foreign travel ministry or some other entity that citizens could obtain the required info?

  7. Or you can take the train into Rome. Take it to Termini station. Train travel is very cheap in Italy. The ride is like 45 mins. You can walk it from the cruise terminal entrance or take a taxi to train station. We walked it as did many others. Hubby just checked and the fare was $17. Buy tickets in the machine, remember to validate train ticket before you board. You can also take the train from Termini station in Rome to the airport. It’s called the Leonardo express. So much easier than trying to round up a car service.

  8. It was Chichanitza. We were only at the site for 45 minutes! We spent 3 hours on the bus each way! Hubby and I failed to read all the fine print and tried to cancel. By the time we realized it; it was too late and no other tours were available to replace it. Lessons learned..
