  1. It's a standard balcony cabin with a double sofa bed. It's 192 sq ft ( 168 living area; 24 bathroom) and 42 sq ft balcony. The views are as good as you can get for a side facing cabin, only some of the forward facing YC cabins and cabins on the stern offer better views , IMHO.

    You'll have a great cruise, I'm sure

    Pete

    Thanks Pete

  2. We really liked the Sunshine. We just got off her today with our 2.5 and 5 year old. Our room was in the aft, an OV on deck 5. I recommend something back there on that ship because the splash parks and camp carnival along with lido market and Havana are back there. Makes it a lot easier not having to walk the entire ship to get to the kids club.

The big slides have a 42" requirement but the splash park has two small side by side slides that don't look like much but kept my two happy for quite a while each day.

I have heard that the Camp Carnivals are bigger on the newer ships but we really enjoyed our time on the Sunshine.

Costa Maya was stop 1 and we did the ruins at Chaccoben. This was my least favorite port with the kids. If you do the ruins be sure to bring bug spray.

Isla Roatan was our favorite. We did Little French Key and everyone from the kids to us loved it. So much to do there and not get bored without having to really do anything.

I stayed on the boat with the kids in Belize as they were too young to do most of the good excursions and I worked in Belize for about 2 months before so I didn't need to get off. The kids had a fun day at camp and with dad at the water slides. My wife went zip lining and 4 wheeling.

In cozumel we rented a car from Hertz or Budget for 80 bucks including full coverage and drove out to Punta Sur. We climbed the lighthouse and took some great pictures then went down to the beach that's in a nice calm cove and played. Ordered some food and then went back to the ship.

My kids loved it , which I'm glad because I had already booked another cruise on a different kind going to Bermuda and Nassau next April.

  3. We did this yesterday morning. The kids got a little menu book that had places for the Things , Sam I Am and Cat in the Hat to autograph. Well technically they stamped them, but they posed for pictures as well. For 5 bucks a person it was worth it. The steak and eggs were REALLY good. During the meal you won't see the Cat In the Hat but don't worry he's waiting outside to have his picture taken with the kids.

  4. Early dining for us. With two little ones they are ready to eat at 6ish. The benefit to us was we ate early, got them changed and dropped off at Camp Carnival. After that we had time to grab a drink and listen to some music or shop before the late showing of the main show. Typically the late show was less crowded when the doors opened and we could get a seat pretty easy.

  5. Hey all! Could someone tell me about the taste bar on the sunshine? Do they just do it before dinner! Or is it open for breakfast or lunch? I think I read somewhere it was, just wondering :)

They also serve a decent little breakfast there. Basically had most of the main stuff youd find at the breakfast buffet plus some extras like cheese grits. Plenty of seating around there with tables set up in ocean plaza and not crowded at all. Mostly an older crowd in there too so it was nice and quiet.

  6. I'm on it right now. Last sea day appx due 38 mm due west of key west at the moment.

I would sail on her again if the itenerary and price were what I wanted. I really haven't felt the ship was that crowded except in two instances.

One was trying to get off in costa maya. Mew were behind schedule and they had an issue trying to dock in the wind. Jamie, the cruise director, asked us not to go get in line to debarked but everyone knows 95% don't listen to that. We were trying to get to a friends room on the first deck and the line was wrapped up to the third floor and hotter than hell in that hallway.

And at lunch in the buffet area on the sea days it can get busy at noon.

  7. I'm on the ship right now, just got back from the gym. So far I haven't really noticed too much crowding. Our room is a promenade 5th floor OV on the starboard side. IMO perfect location because almost everything is accessible here except the serenity, and I've got two little ones so we haven't done too much of that. The only places I've seen that was crowded and a bad design was near the alchemy bar, where the anytime diners congregate. (The funny thing is you would think these anytime diners wouldn't be in a hurry or rude but most of them are. Pushy and complaining as we try to squeeze by ... should have set a time to eat.) The worst is at the actual door next to the alchemy bar going to the stairs to get to the dining room. it's a real bottleneck area.

As far as other areas, we were able to get lounge chairs both times we've been up top. The area going into camp carnival can be congested to if you go right at drop off and pick up. We have taken the advice and taken our breakfast and lunch to the aft of the ship in the Havana bar to eat. It's a lot quieter, except for my 2.5 year old, sorry guys, and there are a some really good Cuban finger foods on the port side of the bar.

  8. The laundry room is across the hall from cabins 7341 and 7339. I know because we did laundry on the Sunshine our last cruise, and we have those cabins booked our up coming cruise on the Sunshine.

    I don't see a 7339 or 7341??

  9. I also booked with a TA and had no problem, you need to go to already booked then to MSC web checkin. We used the drink coupons and they worked PERFECT for us, we drink A LOT on cruises and I got 8 books for my wife and I, we had two left at bed time on the last night:) worked great for us.

Still trying to get this checkin thing figured out with my TA. Are the coupons good anywhere on this ship? Are they only for alcoholic beverages or would they work for kids drinks as well?

  10. We are booked in 11042 for an April cruise to bermuda. Any idea what the drink packages start at?

Also, I booked with a TA but I can't log in to MSCto view the booking since he booked it. Is there a way around it?

  11. How old are the kids?? Our 4 year old LOVED the kids camp and the staff was awesome and very attentive. Where is this food is bad coming from??? I thought the food was the best of any cruise I have been on.

Your report was the reason I booked this cruise. Daughter will be 6 at that time and son will be 3. We also live in orlando and thanks again for your trip thread.
