  1. Aww, thank you for your kind words, gentlemen.

This makes me smile and feel sad at the same time 🙂

Thanks for all the laughs, wisdom and information you have provided to me and hundreds of thousands of CC readers over the years too!

Looks like you're totally unsupervised now (not that I ever stopped you!!!)

Keep cruising - when you can....

See you at sea or on FB!

I read an article yesterday in the Independent (UK) that as a package it is still being sold in UK. The journalist did a successful test booking, as reported.  It was suggested that by keeping the package open, some would cancel voluntarily and in that case would get FCC and not a full refund. With the severe UK and Australian travel restrictions, there would be no chance of the cruise or flight going ahead.

It has since been taken down from sale. Probably got a few enquiries after that article!

  3. There is NO coronavirus on Golden Princess. One passenger was tested by NZ health authorities and the result was negative, Princess has confirmed. The person was on the same flight as someone who tested positive. The positive airline passenger was not on Golden Princess. Unrelated to that, the ship is returning to Australia in line with the NZ and Australian governments' decisions. International cruise ships are banned from docking at any Australian port for 30 days, NZ has banned cruise ships for 3 months. All Australia-based ships currently sailing are heading back to Australia to disembark passengers.

My son phoned today with the news that his sister-in-law flew into Brisbane today from Europe. She tested positive for the virus and was taken from the airport to isolation in hospital. She is in her forties, so hopefully will be OK.

I'd love to know if she was tested at the airport (Brisbane or Europe - Italy?) or before she flew.

I've heard there is no testing at Sydney Airport, but all Australian airports test incoming passengers from Italy.

  5. Hi everyone

You can keep track of which ports are closed to all cruise ships, which are denying entry to people from certain countries or who have recently been in/transited through certain countries. New ports are added every day, unfortunately.

  9. Cruise Critic is in constant contact with all major cruise lines regarding coronavirus. We are updating this story as we hear about each cancellation. Not enough cancellations (yet) to warrant any relocations; the ships just stay put. Good question about cheap deals on repositioning cruises that might have to re-route -- haven't heard of any, but please let us know if you do!

  10. Do you know anyone who has cancelled their cruise because of the bushfires -- whether they were protecting their homes, the roads were closed off or due to health concerns?

Please ask them to email me (do not publish their contact details here) if they would be happy to share their story. No full names or photos will be published if they prefer to keep private.

If you've made bushfire-related insurance claims, I would be interested to hear how the outcome too. Again, by email please.

Thank you, and stay safe cruisers!

In case you're interested, Cruise Critic and parent company TripAdvisor have made donations to various bushfire funds in Australia, with our employees across the world donating their own amounts, which has been matched $ for $ by TripAdvisor.

  11. I am your closest human to a moderator and also have red hair 🤡

However I do not moderate and just let you all run wild. AU/NZ Cruisers is a uniquely rogue self-governing entity. To put an Australian in charge does not always work out in the public's favour.... I will make no further political comments! 😉

Please click Report Post for our Community Team (in the US) to take care of specific posts.

You can also email help@cruisecritic.com for assistance.

I will make the request for a Pinned Post.

We do have a new article (to be published next week) which will eventually rank on Google and answer the question, instead of people ending up here because it gets asked here so often. There is also a great invention called Google Maps, providing directions worldwide since 2005.

Thanks everyone for helping the newbies -- except for this thread's unhelpful fake directions which will make things worse. Don't make me appoint a moderator and spoil all your fun!

  12. We've been updating our story too: https://www.cruisecritic.com.au/news/4846/

If anyone onboard the ship is reading, please get in touch.

Latest report from NZ Herald is 5 confirmed dead, 8 missing presumed dead, and 31 in hospital. Mostly Australians (24) but people also from UK, US, China and Malaysia, including some crew.

Every cruise lover is still feeling the sadness today. Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts and information here, I hope you're all ok. It feels closer to home when it's your fellow Aussie cruisers or you've also sailed on Ovation or to NZ.

    If you're concerned about friends or family, the number to call is 1300 555 135. If you’re outside Australia, +61 2 6261 3305 or SMS +61 421 269 080.
