Our overnight at OC departs at 5 pm on the 2nd day instead of noon. I imagine in our case daily activities will be planned. When we overnighted at OC last month our departure was 1 pm. They had the beaches open and a few bars. We enjoyed mimosas at the lighthouse bar.

Were the drinks included while on land or did you have to pay for drinks if you got the drink package?

  2. Does the Free Drinks and Wifi include alcoholic drinks? It appears they have about 5 different drink packages. I can't figure out which one they are offering with that promotion. Not a big drinker, but I do like the idea of it being prepaid.

    Oh the things I’ve seen.

I know this is an old thread but I'm researching PR cabins and I have to say this is my main concern. We want to put the kids in a connecting promenade but I'm frankly scared of what may be visible from the cabins across the way. I don't need the kids getting eyefuls of things they shouldn't see. Starting to doubt my choice of room!

  4. Does NCL have luggage only delivery to the Honolulu airport?  If so, how does it work?  Do they let you know about it once onboard or does it have to be pre-reserved somehow?  Flight leaves at 2:20 and would like to walk or sightsee around a bit before heading to airport.  What time would you suggest to arrive at the airport?  Are Uber, Lyft or taxi readily available at the port to go into town and where would be a good place not too far away to spend a couple of hours?  Not so much into shopping, but wouldn't mind seeing something else interesting even if it's just a nice boardwalk area on Waikiki beach, Hawaii museum of some kind, or just an early lunch at a popular spot.

  5. Excursion: We did the Mayan Ruins (Dzibilchaltun) with Mexican Fiesta and Traditional Lunch excursion at Progreso. It was VERY hot while we were there, but the ruins were great and a good number of people went swimming in the cenote. The lunch and fiesta at Tierra Bonita were great fun (or maybe it was the open bar that made it so :) )

I can't think of anything to add right now, but please feel free to ask whatever you want to know!

On the excursion page, they say that you are only permitted to bring a camera and water into the ruins and all personal belongings must be left on the bus. I do not want to leave my money and ID on the bus, can I not bring a small cross body bag or purse into the ruins?

  6. I don't know the answer, but I have an 8C (I think - rm 7365) with a friend coming up on the Triumph in October, and while we'd survive sharing a bed, I was NOT looking forward to cuddling with her. I hope it's not that room.

(And how come a 7th floor room is an 8C???)

Please report back if they refuse to separate the beds.

The reason it's an 8C is because it's a midship balcony. The forward and aft are the 8B's.

  7. I had a friend who sailed on the Triumph in a (supposedly) standard 8B balcony. She had requested two twin beds. When she arrived, the bed was made up as a king. She said that the way the sofa was against the bed, there was no room to separate them, but she made the request to the cabin steward anyway. She ended up going to guest services and they told her that it was not able to be converted to twins and she would have to sleep in the same bed as her travel companion (NOT what she wanted). They refused to move her to another room (maybe the ship was full but this wasn't a busy time of year). She ended up escalating this to Carnival on land and even though she was dissatisfied, nothing was ever done. All she wanted was what she paid for, and I personally wouldn't have let it go, but she did.

OK, so now I'm looking at helping another friend book the Triumph and I'm worried the same situation will arise. They do not want to sleep in the same bed and I need to find them a room where I won't have this issue. When looking at the deck plan and searching online, every single thing says that this room can be converted to twins.

So, why not just book another room? Yes, of course we will - but my concern is that there are others out there like this one. Has anyone else ever had this situation before? My friend said it certainly appeared that it would be impossible to separate them due to not having space to pull them apart. It looks just like a normal cabin on the deck plan. Can anyone help me figure this out? Why would this room be any different from others nearby and why would it say they could be separated if they couldn't? I would say they were just being lazy, but this was escalated to the hotel officer onboard and my friend believed them from what the cabin looked like.

Unfortunately, she didn't take pictures. I'm perplexed by this and would love to hear if anyone else has had this cabin.

  8. we are booked in 1802 for March 18 2017. I hope it has the divider! We are talking Liberty right. It just came out of refurb

You are sailing right now (congrats!). PLEASE post pictures of 1802 when you return! I still haven't found any anywhere of that exact room on the Liberty.

  9. No, you can't reserve a spot in Erato. But you don't need to. There is plenty of parking.

This is not my experience. More than once, we have barely gotten a spot in Erato and have heard that they have had to have people park in an overflow garage somewhere else. I don't know if that's true or not, but I do know cars were driving around and there were no spots left that we could tell. Our last 2 cruises, we've had to park at the end of the rows against the wall because the garage was full, once was on the roof. Getting parked our last two times was stressful and took a long time waiting on the workers to find us one of the few spots left. Don't get me wrong, I love parking there, and how easy and close it is to the boarding area, but don't show up late or it makes it a lot less convenient experience.

  10. There are L shaped rooms in the back that have a bowling alley balcony. They are a regular balcony room, but the balcony is more than twice as long as a regular balcony. These rooms are definitely cooler....and cheaper. I haven't stayed in either, but that's what I got from all the research I did.

I've stayed in both. L shaped on the Destiny, aft on the Triumph. I preferred the aft. BUT, it was cold on our cruise and I welcomed the sun on the balcony. We also had traveling companions in the 2 cabins to our right so privacy wasn't an issue. One of them, however, woke up to vomit on their balcony one morning, thanks to some moron who decided to lean over the Lido rail without concern to those under him/her. There is some privacy, just not when you are standing at the rail. The L shaped wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the layout as much. The extra window and balcony space was great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, but I liked the aft better. I've always loved looking out over the wake. I wouldn't pay extra for the aft in the summer because of the heat, but any other time of year, it would be a nice splurge.

  11. I just noticed that the Royal gift certificates say that you cannot use them with a travel agent. Are there any such restrictions on the Carnival gift cards? I got them one time before when they were e-gift certificates and had no trouble, but I need to know if I can go through a travel agent when using these new ones that are mailed.

Also, did someone say that they couldn't be used on the deposit? I would look up these restrictions myself if they were posted on Verizon, but they're not. :(

  12. I don't believe it is really possible to reach Eastern Caribbean cruise ports in just 7 days from Galveston and New Orleans, they would need to be much longer cruises, which although Carnival is trying to get into, most people still prefer the shorter 5-7 night cruises. Maybe with Amber Cove more cruises are possible but nothing to far in the Eastern like St. Thomas, San Juan or St. Maarten.

I bet you will see 5-7 night cruises to Mobile, most being Western with a few to like Key West, Nassau, Freeport, Amber Cove.

    - Justin

Sure, it's possible. Both New Orleans & Galveston run Eastern itineraries. I do think it may cost more, but it does happen. I went to the Bahamas out of Nola.

The ship from Mobile will be a Fantasy class and do Cozumel and Cozumel/Progreso runs if history repeats itself. I personally would like to see it do 3/4 day runs to Amber Cove. Giving it something different from New Orleans would be great and IMO a smart thing to do since most people will choose the Triumph from Nola over a Fantasy class in Mobile. A different port would be a good reason to get more people to choose Mobile. I would like to see Calica come back if Amber Cove doesn't happen.

  13. After weighing the pros and cons, I decided that I would try it on my own. I still have a few carbs, but have drastically cut them overall. I have used the Power Crunch protein wafer bars when I get sugar cravings and they are OK, but I really loved the IP wafer bars in the strawberry and I may try eBay to get some. I bought some Ketostix to see if I was producing ketones instead of having my coach do it for me. I miss having a coach, and I did have one huge cheat afternoon, but I got back on track the next day.
