  1. You should feel close to zero motion, even in the roughest of seas.

Lol! I had 6291 on the Conquest and we had a rough seas. The entire ship was rocking and rolling. We could definitely feel it. It was not normal, and maybe it was better in our room, but if the seas are rough enough, you'll feel it everywhere. The only other ride I've had that rough was on the Holiday!

  2. The Pack and Go rates flyer usually appears at the bottom of this page in the "Featured Specials" listing. But it only shows when it is available. I can't remember for sure, but I think it comes out on Wednesdays and the offers have to be booked by Friday. Then you won't see it listed here again until the following week. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll see if I can find it on Wednesday!

  3. Thank you. I have never had an Interior before so trying to get most spacious feeling one I can find. I had looked on that website, but couldn't find pics of one of the square rooms until just now. Does seem a bit more spacious. It also alleviates the problem of using the closets while someone is coming in or out of the bathroom. Thanks again.

It was the one and only inside I've ever had. I was always scared to get one just from seeing them while walking down the hallways. It's probably not any more square footage, but I did feel like it didn't seem so enclosed - granted I've never been "inside" any of the regular insides, just seen them from the hall. They always look so tiny to me. It still seemed a tad claustrophobic because of no window, but if I had to do it again, I'd book the same layout. I wish they had square OV and balconies! It has been a while (2002) but I don't remember it being terrible having an inside. I've had quite a mix of unusual room configurations in my cruise history and although this would be at the bottom of my list, it's ONLY because it didn't have a sofa or window.

  4. Ha ha! I had to laugh at the rap music comment! It's been over 6 months since my Conquest cruise, but I complained about the constant Country music!

It was also more crowded than I remember. It made me not so worried about going back to a Fantasy class. Crowds everywhere. Same layout as most other older ships, but they didn't account for the extra people it seems. Not just in one area, pretty much all over in the public areas. The buffet area is better than the former classes, though.

It's still my favorite ship, even with the negative. I just love the décor.

  5. On the Conquest, mine was the opposite, but just as you described. It seemed larger to me, because of the way the room was laid out. There is no hallway into the room. A normal room you will walk into the room and there's a hall with the bathroom on one side & the closets on the other. In a square room, you walk straight into the room. Mine had the bathroom on the left, followed by the vanity. The closets were on the right, alongside the wall where the hall was. The bed was on the opposite wall side of the vanity (to my right). There was nothing on the wall straight ahead. There was a chair and maybe a small table. If I had to get another inside, I'd like this layout again. The hallway was VERY quiet, but we did have some noise where someone else's interior on the outside hall backed up to our room. There were kids in it. It wasn't bad, though. Wish I could find my pics. Have you tried looking at one of those sites that have cruise line rooms (hint) pictured?

  6. So sad that such beautiful places are so dangerous to go to. I liked Nassau, but everything was so darn expensive. I felt safer there than in Ocho Rios, however. I hope they take the warnings seriously. The criminals don't care, but the police force needs to listen. Sad, sad, sad.

  7. I don't think there's any need for a new thread, so I'll jump in here. I want to make it official by posting the beginning of this journey!

I have a land (beach) vacation in June and have about 23 weeks to lose 1 to 1.5 lb per week.

I guess you could say I started about a week ago, but I've been still trying to figure out my game plan, so I haven't been real strict. I'm doing the Simple Diet, but still reading the book and haven't followed it 100%.

I started T25, but realized that even though I could get through it (modified), I was still concerned about it being too intense. I don't think it's meant for couch potatoes just starting to work out. I then tried Jillian's Yoga Meltdown, which was also too hard. Today I tried Leslie Sansone's 5 Day Slimdown and I think I finally found my beginner workout. It was just the right intensity.

My tentative schedule is for now to do Leslie's until 1/31/14, then start Chris Freytag's 10 pound slimdown program on 2/3/13 and Jillian Michael's Body Revolution on 3/3/13, which will take me to June. FYI, I based these decisions off of help from Collage Video and their rating system.

    Starting weight: 154.8

    Goal: 130

    Need to lose: 24.8

  8. I'm planning on pretty much the same timeframe you are and I'm also planning for a consistent 1 lb per week loss - with the hopes I might even reach 1.5 per wk. I've got a little more than 23 weeks left . I'm doing the Simple Diet and have a variety of DVD workouts planned. Just started about a week ago and already having sugar cravings. I've managed to keep it under 1650 cal a day even on cheat days, usually end up around 1350 if I do good, but need to cut that back a bit in order to achieve my goal.

  9. As a staunch defender of more formal dress codes in the past - I have to say that it ain't like it used to be. I used to wear full length gowns every cruise, sometimes in full sequins. Not anymore, and I will bite my lip and admit that it's easier now to be a bit more casual and I don't fight the direction that the dress code as going as much anymore. I'm sure it's mostly because I'm a mother of 2 now and it's just not as easy to wear a formal gown and take care of 2 little ones at the same time! I still dress up on formal nights, but the days of extravagant gowns are over. There may be a handful of elegant gowns onboard, but the days of fitting in while wearing one are gone. While some gowns are still long, the entire direction of the fashion for formal night is going much more cocktail rather than formal. I will still wear flashy or sequin dresses, but only if they are around knee length or shorter. I wore a full length dress on my last cruise as well, but it wasn't really a "gown" in my eyes.

I think the purple gown will fit in fine, but leave the other 2 at home (IMHO). On the other hand, you can wear as fancy as you want, but be prepared to stand out a little. Enjoy!

p.s. I do still get irritated when people don't at least follow the minimum dress code, but that's other thread! ;)

  10. You will have no problem getting a crib. The time of year you are cruising is not peak family cruising since the kids are all back in school. I have cruised with a crib either 2 or 3 times, I can't remember, but I've always gotten one delivered to the room before bedtime. The room steward always had our request noted, but I reminded them just to be sure. Even during June when it IS peak time, I got a crib with no problems. Don't worry and don't bring the pack & play. It is not a full size crib, but our kids have always slept fine in them, even at 2+ years.

  11. Hmmm, thanks for that reply. Just as I suspected, it's in dire need of sprucing up - and that's one reason I asked. I wonder how much better she'll look after the refurb and what all they plan on doing. If they are just adding some stuff without doing a full refurb, I'm not sure we'll book. Since there doesn't seem to be any real detailed info out there, looks like we'll wait to book and look at other options. :(

  12. And when will it be? I have searched & googled and all I see is that the 2.0 is coming in 2014 (maybe Nov-Dec), but I can't find out what it is getting. Specifically, is this a major refurb or is it just getting the 2.0 added? What about the water slides/pool areas, what changes can we expect? I wonder if a Waterworks will be added. I wonder if this is also going to be a full ship refurb - where the rooms and public areas are enhanced (new carpet/furnishings, etc.) I would LOVE to hear that some balconies are being added, but I think that's probably too much to ask. Thinking about a Dec cruise next year and would love it if someone had some additional/detailed info about her.

  13. I was looking at Carnival.com today and did a mock booking on the Sunshine. I noticed that one of the options given to me was an oceanview handicapped cabin. I wondered why they'd offer it to just anyone. Since it came with spa amenities and a good location, sure, I'd be tempted to book it. I wonder if I were bumped if I would get a balcony, since a regular oceanview would be a downgrade.

One thing I've heard is that when you shower, the water goes all over the bathroom because there is no lip to hold the water in. Is this true?

For the record, if Carnival will allow me to book a handicapped room, I see no problem in taking advantage of it for the extra space. I would also expect that if anyone needed the room that I would be bumped and I would have no problem giving up my room for them.

  14. I've been waiting on the summer 2014 Sunshine to be released for a month now, thinking it will be any day. I've been disappointed so many times, I don't know what to think anymore. There has got to be some major issue for them to be delaying dates this long.
