  1. Jo, haven't seen a Wii show up at the campground so I guess they didn't like my suggestion. Oh well, we get plenty of exercise chasing the grandkids up and down the hill. People ask why we don't get a golf cart to go back and forth from the playground to our camper or to the store or the pond - our response is that all the walking is good for us. We see young folks who have to take their golf carts to visit folks 2 or 3 campers down from them. We don't want to get into that habit.

Did the hula hoop last week on the Wii. I used to be good at it and was able to catch the hoops every time. Now I just get bonked on the head with the hoops. Since all the snow has melted I have to get my "skiiing fix" from the Wii so I'll continue to do that over the summer months.

Anyone get the new Wii system? Just wondering what it has different from the previous one.

    Wii On!!!!

  2. Good morning fellow Wiiers.

We are still doing lots of Wii on Sundays but now that the weather is getting nice we'll probably slack off for the next couple months.

Since the countdown to my cruise will soon be under 200 days I need to start getting serious about getting in shape.

  3. Made a suggestion to our campground owners to invest in a Wii system which could be used for lots of activities and maybe a Saturday morning Fitness session. We'll see if they think it would be worth it.

    Wii on!

  4. "said they were not allowing anything picked up on any beach to be brought back onboard." is pretty general what about clothes or shoes or... well you get the idea.

How did they find it in the first place ? If a person had it in their pocket I can't figure out how they would know.

I'm the one that posted that. We did not have the sea glass in our pockets, we had it in a beach bag tote. When my bag went through the scanner they pulled me aside and said I needed to remove the sea glass. I asked why I had to take it out and that is when they made the comment about not allowing anything from the beaches to be brought back on board. I think they were taking about sea glass, coral, shells, sand, etc. They did not ask if I got it at the sea glass beach (which I did not), just said it wasn't allowed to be brought on board.

  5. It's been Wii season at our house lately. We get it out every Sunday and play for hours with the grandkids. The 2-yr old loves the Obstacle Course and we also do the ski runs, ski jumps, bowling and the other active type games. Hoping that the real ski season will start soon but meanwhile I'll make do with my Wii sking.

I need to be doing lots of Wii since we did a cruise in October and another one in November. And then there was Thanksgiving and now Christmas goodies. If only I had more willpower.

  6. The Property of is the key to unlawful. Stealing someone's property IS against the law (unlawful). The sign doesn't say there is a Bermuda law about taking the glass.

My sea glass was not from the sea glass beach. I did not have a big baggie full, maybe 15 - 18 pieces. The cruise line did not ask me where I got it, they just said they were not allowing anything picked up on any beach to be brought back onboard.

  7. Just an FYI on the glass beach near the dockyard.

There are now signs on the beach that is is owned by Welco (?) and that the beach is there for everyone's enjoyment but you cannot remove anything from the beach including the "natural" sea glass and can be prosecuted if you are caught.

The beach was not only covered with sea glass but also a lot of other washed up trash like plastic bags, bottles, chunks of wood and there were a lot of biting bugs swarming around us in the few minutes we were there.

I had some sea glass from another beach so didn't pick up any there. But when my beach bag went through the screening they pulled my bag out and took the sea glass. Said they are not allowing anything to come onboard that was picked up on ANY beach. I only had about 2 cups of glass, not a big bag. Not sure if that is a new Bermuda rule or a new RC rule but they had a whole pile of bags of sea glass so mine isn't the only one that was taken. I had been careful to rinse off all the sand because I had read that people were stopped for sand.

I'm sure that some people got their glass onboard without a problem but I guess they are on the look-out for that kind of thing now.

  8. Wanted to let you know my opinion of the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Edison NJ.

Arrived early at the hotel. Had requested a low floor room and they gave us a room on the 3rd floor. Asked if they had anything lower and we were given a nice room on the first floor right near the outside door where our car was parked. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Drove to the nearby mall and ate dinner at Rainforest Cafe. Came back and spent some time in the indoor pool and hot tub. The pool wasn't large but the area was very clean and well maintained. Pool and hot tub was also very clean.

Breakfast the next morning was good with waffles, breakfast sandwiches you heated in the microwave, juices, yogurt, fruit cups, pastry, etc. Again, the area was clean and well stocked even though it was very busy.

Checked out and headed to the port which was an easy 35 minute drive.

We will stay there again if we go out of Bayonne. Friendly, helpful staff and easy to get to.

  9. Hi Debbie - hope we cruise again together too. We did check out Country Inns but since we are parking at the port we don't need the parking. We could have driven the day of the cruise since we're less than 4 hours from the port but we like to start our vacation a day early by staying overnight. Plus the Fairfield was a lot less money

  10. Mapquest directions from the hotel to the port. Anything we should be aware of? Will we be going to through the tunnel this way? Is there a better way?

Didn't include turn by turn directions from hotel, starting at 1-287 -

    * Merge onto I-287 S toward New Jersey Turnpike.

*Take the I-96/New Jersey Turnpike exit.

*Take the exit toard New York and North.

*Merge onto I-95 N / New jersey Turnpike N toward Cars / Trucks / Buses.

*Merge onto I-78 E / New Jersey Tpke Ext E via Exit 14 toward 14a-14b-14c / Bayonne / Jersey City / Holland tunnel.

    *Take Exit 14a toward Bayonne.

*Keep left to take the Ave E ramp.

*Stay straight to go onto Avenue E.

    * Turn right onto E 27th St. *Welcome to Bayonne NJ, your desitination is 0.1 miles past Broadway. If you reach Avenue C you/ve gone too far.

Mapquest says 37 minutes from hotel to pier. Is that close to how long it should take us?

Thank you for all your help.

  11. sorry..missed this...where are you coming from again???

We are coming from west of Harrisburg PA. Will go I-81 to I-78. Found a Fairfield Inn and Suites Edison-South Plainfield with free breakfast, free parking and in indoor pool for a good price. Several decent restaurants close by. Is that a decent area?

  12. You're sailing on a Sunday, so you can stay easily further west than the Newark area and bid a much less expensive hotel on Hotwire or Priceline. The hotel will be in a nice suburban location with a choice of restaurants instead of the highly urban industrialized area around Newark. A seven day cruise is right on the edge economically between parking at the pier and doing a park/sleep with the added port transportation. If you're interested, we can make suggestions about the areas a little further away to look at.

Looking for something 30 - 35 minutes from the port. Driving in the day before, staying overnight and parking at Cape Liberty. Suggestions?

  13. Just got Just Dance 3. Got it from someone who is getting rid of their Wii and all the games. For $10 I figure it's worth a try. We don't do much Wii in the summer since we spend a lot of time in our pool but I'll have something new to do once we get back to Wii-ing.

  14. The grandkids were here today so we had the Wii out and did some of the games on the Wii Fit. They love the Obstacle Course. Played Snowball Fight too. Lots of giggles this afternoon.

Had to put new batteries in the balance board so that will be good for a while now.

  15. We've been Wii Bowling and I got in some Wii Ski. But my best exercise of all was real skiing at Smuggler's Notch in Vermont last week. 4 or 5 straight hours of skiing for 5 days should have burned up some calories.

We'll be hitting the ski slopes in our area as often as we can but I still hope I can find time for some Wii Zumba.

  16. Back from our 12-night cruise on Saturday and although I didn't lose any weight this time I didn't gain any pounds either. I didn't do the morning walking like I usually do and it made a difference. Now I need to get back on the Wii and get in shape for my cruises next year. We were doing Wii Ski yesterday.

  17. I've managed to lose about 9 lbs so far. Not that it makes a lot of difference when I have so much more to lose. But now I'm so busy that I haven't had time to Wii for a while. I need to MAKE myself get the Wii out and quit making excuses. At this time last year I was determined to look and feel better on this year's cruise. But that year has flown by and our cruise is coming up soon and I'm not even close to where I wanted to be. So I'm really feeling mad at myself right now.

One good thing is that I'm so active on the cruise that I actually lose weight, last year I was 7 lb lighter when we got home. Hmmm, I think I figured it out. I just need to cruise more often. 5 cruises and year I would be 35 lbs lighter. Sounds like a plan to me.

  18. The Zumba is a lot of fun but a real workout. I had trouble with the steps the first time but it's getting easier the more I do it.

I try to increase the length of my workout a little each time and hoping to work my way up to an hour soon.

DH was going to Zumba with me but gave up in the first 2 minutes.

  19. It remembered her weight etc from over 1 1/2 years ago!

I think it should remember my weight from 15 years ago. he he

There are some infomercials on TV that show Zumba CDs that you can buy and I always thought it looked like a lot of fun. I'll let you know how it goes for me.
