  1. Has anyone ever needed to change their charge card used to make the deposit online or transferred the deposit to another credit card by calling Celebrity (without changing anything on the reservation)? We booked a cruise with a deposit in December for February 2017 departure using a credit card we do not want to renew due to the high annual fee. Thanks for any info.

  2. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You sound proactive and that is the first step to dealing with this crappy disease. We are taking our first cruise in years on Celebrity in 2017, and although others will probably know more details about the dining options, I would think any of the cruise ships would be able to accommodate your diet if you tell them what you need. My husband has type 1 which has it's own set of issues. Once you know what works for you, it will be easier to travel and eat away from home. Take care and enjoy your cruise!

  3. Check Celebrity's forum. They're some unhappy cruisers there. But not as bad as Royal Caribbean. We booked The Oasis for 2016. I'm not worried about the chicken necks as we will only dine in specialty restaurants for dinner.
Well that's just it. We are not big cruisers but have an itinerary we really want to do by ship. Initially RC had the one we wanted and we were excited about it. But reading reviews here and elsewhere seemed they were really slipping on service. Celebrity was more expensive but reading the reviews there, it seems to be pretty positive across the board with a few gripes and complaints, but nothing we would not experience on any trip. My question was for those who actually did experience poor service on an RC cruise or horrible food, sanitation, etc. why not take your money elsewhere?
  4. Wow, just wow. These consistently bad reviews just seal the deal that we are going to cancel our RC cruise and go with Celebrity - chicken necks, toilet issues, disgruntled employees, norovirus. What I cannot understand is why anybody who personally experienced any of this would even remotely consider rebooking on RC.

  5. Based on our recent Michael's Club experience (where only the CS, RS and PH had access), it is still underused. There was a "core" group of about 12-14 people who used it in the evenings, and during the day I never saw more than 2-6 people at any given time. Even the special events were not well-attended. There was some kind of musical event or tea or something nearly every day and of the ones we attended there was only 10 people at most.

I think because a lot of people have beverage packages they don't need to come in to get free drinks. And because it has no windows, it's not as desirable a location.

Some people were worried that the Sky Suite people would crowd it up. That remains to be seen. My guess is not. Certainly not all at once. We were in Michael's maybe 45 minutes every evening, but liked the Sky Lounge and Martini Bar better.

This, that sky suites having beverage packages included should not crowd MC when there are other venues available. Seems like MC might be a social club anyway and many passengers do not seek that, but do seek a nice cabin with the various inclusive features presently being offered. Actually the Go Best inclusion on Celebrity is what changed our plans from RCCL to Celebrity so hope it becomes permanent.
  6. Hello,

Apologies if this has been asked before but through my searches I can't find any information.

Does anyone know when the current Go Big, Go Better, Go Best promotion will end? Nothing is stated on the Celebrity website or the fine print as to when it will end, all I know is it's for cruises that sail from October 2015 and onwards.

    Regards

I see this is an older thread, but this info may help some go ahead and book now, although the offer could always be extended past Jan 3, 2016:

  7. Below is a link to the thread I believe you are looking for. If you go to post 19, the poster states that Celebrity will honor those who posted before the change and Celebrity has stated so on Facebook. I don't do Facebook so perhaps you can check there.

Thanks, I will take their word for it that Celebrity will honor it since several have gotten confirmation on the date. Hope the OP has a great cruise despite the confusion on the upgrade. I agree it was and still is somewhat confusing about who gets what and when. For those who do not want SS to have MC access, I promise I won't try to squeeze in if it is crowded - not into crowds!
  8. dkjretired is not totally accurate. You will have access to Michaels Club and because your reservation was made prior to 1/1/16 you will still have 2 complimentary dinners in specialty restaurants on your cruise.
Thanks, I thought I read that on the forum somewhere but I have not seen it anywhere on the website or Celebrity literature. I guess for those of us not familiar with the dining venues or MC, it is confusing to have different perks listed on the same booking and reservation. We can't wait for our cruise though, so whatever we get, we will enjoy (and not know what we are missing). ;)
  9. I understand the confusion about Sky Suite perks. We booked a 12 day cruise for 2017 on Celebrity last week. When I booked the cruise, the Sky Suites Features & Highlights listed 2 complimentary dinners in specialty restaurants but no mention of Michael's Club. This was on the very page of the actual cruise that showed the price, the cabin number, etc. However, when I view the link in my reservation next to the cabin, it lists Michael's Club beginning with holiday 2015, but no mention of any complimentary dining perks. So, which is it? Or is it both? The details and perks for that particular booking and cabin should be very clear to the customer showing exactly what is going to be provided. I actually checked a Sky Suite yesterday on the same cruise. The price of the cabin has been changed (increased) but the Features and Highlights still do not match the list on my booking/reservation of the same exact cruise.

  10. This is a little different issue but related as ours was also booked with the $300 OBC but base has gone up $150 (not sailing until 2017). I have been conflicted about which cabin to book and considering booking a lesser cabin. The thing is I don't want to give up the first one just yet until we have our vacation budget determined. So, can I book 2 cabins (same name or the other person's name) and decide later or is this something considered frowned upon by Royal?

  11. Definitely My Time Dining.

    • We can choose when we want to dine (We don't make reservations and have never waited more than five minutes).
    • We don't have any desire to sit with others.
    • Less of a chance of having the same waiter.
    • Less chance of experiencing dining room "entertainment".

So, what do you mean by entertainment in quotation marks? I have one last question about MTD - can we just change to it once we get onboard or do we have to switch in advance. Thanks.
  12. Exactly! We want to dine on our schedule, not the ship's. We have always been able to get a table for two with "My Time Dining" and usually request and get the same wait staff. Depending upon what we will be doing after dinner, we can request that service be speeded up or at a more leisurely pace.
When I booked the cruise, I did not know about the MTD and think I will switch to it because of the flexibility. I have been reading that dinner service can run over 2 hours - this would be too late for us to start at 8:00pm on consecutive port days. Assume we can change from traditional to MTD online as I booked online? Will gratuities be added to final bill when due?
  13. I have been reading threads about the dining options on Royal and have some questions that have probably been asked many times but still not clear. When we booked our cruise last week (for 2017), the time for dining shows a set time at 8pm (did not know we had a choice, or did not see the options). That seemed ok as just two of us and we are fine dining with others. But after reading the posts about MTD vs MDR, it seems as though many people opt for additional dining options during the cruise: specialty, windjammer, in-room, etc. How does having a set time mess up the traditional table or system if we choose specialty or in-room on port nights or just want to dine alone a night? And, are the MTD dining rooms in different locations of the ship from MDR? Some mention of pre-paid gratuities for the MTD vs daily gratuities for MDR? Are these the same amount, just paid differently? Very confusing! Thanks in advance for any advice, information. Oh, ship is Radiance if that helps.

  14. I appreciate the change as it makes it much easier to convince spouse to go on the RCI cruise with the perfect itinerary rather than NCL line just because of dress code. He looks nice but will not wear a coat and tie to dinner (sad little ties taking up space in the closet need to go live elsewhere).;)

  15. Interesting and informative thread. We are not cruisers, generally take land trips for destinations. But we cruised NCL in 2009 Western Mediterranean and have no complaints. We went primarily for the ports and were not disappointed. Food was ok, service good, ship clean, all we asked for and expected, we received. Now planning a Sydney to New Zealand for the same reason (ports) and tentatively booked on RCI. However, some reviews of Radiance and the other older ships decline in overall experience is concerning. We will be following CC closely and if it looks like RCI is indeed cutting service, we will not hesitate to cancel the cruise but it would be a shame.

  16. The service we had was exceptional. Maybe because we were in the GV, not sure, but we did not encounter any bad service anywhere on the ship.

Lunch and breakfast us at Moderno now, but the same suite menu. You can also have it delivered to your room, and we did most days. :)

Thanks for the info. Is Moderno similar to Cagney's? We thought the food was exceptional for breakfast and lunch. As to your tipping info, that is personal true, but your honesty about it is very refreshing. Glad you had a great cruise and we enjoyed your photos.:)

  17. We have booked a suite for the Hong Kong to Sydney cruise in 2017 but with all the mixed Star reviews, we need to get some positive feedback. It seems that people staying in suites were pleased with most of the service but not all of it. We sailed on the Gem in 2009 Western Med and had a wonderful time, great service, food, etc. Is this the same NCL we are wondering? Also, do you know if breakfast and lunch are still available in Cagney's? One of our favorite things about the last cruise. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
