  1. You are on the starboard side and your balcony will be good. The ship turns around before the bridge so starboard is actually the side you want to be on. Port side is usually along the dock if the ship is facing forward but it does a turn before it heads down the Mississippi.

Yes...this was true for us on the DREAM this last summer. Nothing better than sitting on your own balcony!!! The trip down the Mississippi is amazing!!!

  2. Love the DREAM. Not sure 5 people can stay in one cabin...need someone else to comment on that one. 5 people with one small bathroom seems like a lot of people. Maybe the deluxe OV is a bath & 1/2??? We like to book midship because you won't feel a lot of movement in that area. The Dream has lots of fun places to visit... Bars, piano club, slides, kids clubs, food spots, etc., the crew is wonderful, and there are plenty of fun activities on the ship. Have a wonderful time!!

  3. That is so weird about getting seated at 2 different tables! How does that happen?

The best way to deal with table issues is to just see the Maitre D as soon as possible. People ask to switch tables all the time. It doesn't make you "that guy", as long as you ask politely. :) I know it's too late for this cruise but maybe for future reference.

Did you get a post-cruise survey? I would definitely put my comments there.

Sorry you didn't have a good Sensation cruise. We were on the September 4 sailing and there were a couple of issues (mostly with embarkation and debarkation, which took wayyyy longer that they should have). But we still had a nice time and I liked the ship. We had Your Time Dining so we had 3 different wait teams but they were all good and didn't seem as rushed and frantic as some of the waiters on our last few cruises.

We always travel in a large group. For the first time ever we booked with a PVP...not our travel agent. This was the first time we booked the biggest ship, the DREAM. We had three rooms this time........and booked them at the same time...both parties together.....and since it was a last minute thing....(5 weeks out) we just paid in full.

We asked the PVP to make sure our dining was linked because we new they could put us at a larger table (in fact, the last time we had 4 more people with us) The next day we got an email...saying my DH and I were wait listed for First seating. I emailed our PVP knowing she was going to be off the next 3 days for a short trip.

In 5 days, I got an email saying we were now confirmed for early seating. On line....we were also linked by the three bookings. Perfect!!

When we got our S&S cards, we saw we were all at three tables...close together, but not at the same table. So we went to the Maitre D at the assigned time. He was wonderful. He laughed because he said none of the bookings were linked and as he assigned tables he wondered if we were together so he put us in tables close together. He easily connected them and it only took a few minutes. Our Maitre D was clearly on the BALL!!! It happens very easily. Anyone can make a mistake. I know I do. We were just glad this was so easy to correct!!

  4. Love these threads! I predict how many people post before the 4-5 Buzzkill posters get their posts in about removing tips and giving only to those that ACTUALLY, physically serve you!

This time I didn't even get to type my prediction on line because it came so quickly! Ha!

Leave your "TEPS" alone and give extra!! :)

  5. We are going to the same ports in Aug 2015. What did you think of Montego Bay? Would an excursion booked through Carnival be safe?

Jamaica is the one port we do use CCL for booking our excursions. We have done Dunns River Falls and last July we went to their Seawind Family All Inclusive. We loved the AI day. It was just day passengers from the Dream, and the water, food and facilities were wonderful.

  6. I know that I am weird, but I like the rocking and pitching a bit. Our group has been on two ships that were outrunning or detouring around hurricanes and boy were we rocking!! Very hard to walk, lots of sick people on the ship, and even some of the crew were sick.

Last cruise (June 29, 2014) on the DREAM, never, ever felt the ship move. It was a bit disappointing for sure! Ha........my only complaint from my last cruise was that I didn't feel the ship move...even coming our of port!

We travel in a large group and DH and I and our BFF book an OS or GS (on fantasy class) so we always choose mid ship. We booked the DREAM late, 5 weeks out and the only OS left were at the front of the ship. It was surprising that we didn't feel anything. The kids' rooms were on Lido and they said they didn't feel anything either. Smooth seas for sure!!

  7. We loved having it delivered to our rooms this last cruise. (One case in each of our three rooms). For us, it was so worth not having to lug those cases around. For us, it is like having our house cleaned....sure we could do it cheaper ourselves, but are willing to pay to not HAVE to do it!!

As far as taking it places...you can take it everywhere, including off the ship into ports! Happy sailing!

  8. We were in an OS on deck 7 on the Dream in June/July. I had read many complaints about the ac and was worried on embarkation day-as it was quite warm and humid feeling. However as we sailed down the Mississippi..it got cooler. When we returned from early seating dinner..it was freezing...like usual!! I wonder if it's hit and miss on this ship?

  9. Had to laugh about the older crowd.....I am sure that is mostly true, however, on the DREAM this summer, it was out younger kids, 21,23, and 25, that made us older folks go to the piano bar.

Our kids love the dueling piano bar in the town they go to college...it is honestly packed every night.....but gracious...on the weekend the lines snake out the door. Been there and they are pretty good but my it is loud---shouting to talk loud.:D

So our kids tell us we "HAVE" to go to the piano bar with them (before they go to dance club) I'll have to look up the guys name but he was good. If he didn't know a song (and there were some oldie requests he wasn't that familiar with) he would ask permission to put that request on hold till the next day. By the next night, he could sing and play the song. He could actually do both. He played a lot of contemporary songs. That seems to draw the younger crowd in, too!

  10. Maybe cost depends on where and what airline. We paid $25.00 per cabin from Ft. Lauderdale using Southwest Airlines. We had 4 cabins that used it and it was FABULOUS!!

Our friends did not use it and had to drag their luggage around FTL airport for 4 hours before they could check it.

    Love it!!

  11. This is how he likes to dress. Is this OK for "regular" dining nights? Whatever we have to buy would most likely just be worn on the cruise and nowhere else. I don't want him to be dressed inappropriately, but nor do I want to go broke buying clothes he will never wear again.

Or would you suggest "no shorts"? If so, that's fine. Just trying to figure out what we still need.

    Thanks.

(eta: pay no attention to the clothes matching. LOL Just grabbing a few random samples of style. ;) )

That is fine. The waiters will love your young man!! They seem to love interacting with kids.

However......beware.....cruising is addicting! Our young boys fell in love with cruising and still love it to this day!!

  12. Hennie is outgoing and friendly. He does have an unusual way of making announcements. He ends by saying "bye bye.......(long pause)......I said bye bye".

Ugh!!!!! Most annoying CD ever!!! Tons of new names on the list!! Where'd Trvor from Kansas go?? Really liked him on the Dream. Best deck parties ever!!!

  13. Smuggle your booze, rum runners, whatever. But why people bring on items expressly forbidden that are fire hazards is beyond me!!! And to brag about it....I don't get how people have so little concern for other' safety. It is not allowed due to a fire hazard. Think of others and font bring a steamer.

  14. On the Dream, at night, go forward on the lido deck past cabins. Take door to outside, then follow stairs up and you will find yourself above the bridge in a very dark area to see the stars. You will need a flashlight or phone light to do this!! Interesting perspective during the day, too!
