  1. Sorry, your clueless in regard to other people whom what to just R&R.

You right I am totally clueless why some people are pointless and have no clue how to travel. ALSO I do cruise but that is not the only way I travel. I think many people who ONLY travel or ONLY go to "Disney" world are also wasting time when they could do so much more. Dont get me wrong I love cruising but I also love backpacking across Nicaragua. IT IS CALLED ADVENTURE Lazy people and brainwashed corporate zomibies need not apply. Give me 100 bucks to go to margeritaville and you will still have 100 bucks :) I WILL PAY YOU to take me from the port to a jungle where no other cruisers go tho. I
  2. Oh well, we are going to Margaritaville in Grand Turk regardless. Been there several times and we hope it is open for the CCL Sunshine Nov. 18th cruise.

Will do something special in Aruba and Curaco instead.

I'm on vacation for pure R&R, not sight seeing.

Just saying and no offense as your post makes sense to those that haven't travel as much as us.

    29 th crusie coming up!

Also traveled the world for business, so I've seen the good the bad and the ugly.

I hope you all enjoy your cruise and whatever you chose to do.

This is odd to me as an avid adventure traveler It has been my experience that those that go to margeritaville and the like are INEXPERIENCED travelers. What is the point? If all you want is that then why spend the time and money to do what you can do at home? Travel is for the soul and for the mind and to see gods great creation. Usually those scared to get to places like little corn island or scared to walk down the alleys to find the best food go to hard rock cafe. It is just a fact of life so I do not believe one second someone who has traveled the world would want to waste a good adventure like this. Sorry.
  3. I've lived in Nassau for years and have never heard of this park. Looking at the map, it's clear on the opposite side of the island and not on/or near a beach.

I suggest you post this on tripadvisor, or look for recommendations for a taxi service that will get you there and pick you up, as you won't find transportation back to port from out that way. ALSO, traffic is horrible during school bus times, and from 4:30 - 6:30 so be careful of your timing.

Also, you might want to contact the park and see if it's still in good conditions. Quite a few of these parks are very damaged from the last few hurricane seasons.

Thank you all for your responses. the park is only 3 years old and looks amazing. I am emailing the park as we speak to figure this one out. not sure if i can do it the price to get there is way too much. I cannot figure out why transportation is so high then with other islands / countries. in Nicaragua i paid 300 bucks got a 4 day tour and a private driver the entire time. this included park fees to anywhere i wanted to go and i went pretty far around. we RE TALKING 8 TO 10 HOUR DAYS. In roaton I rented a car for a for day for 50 bucks and went all over the island. Why is Nassau so dag gum expensive?

  4. You don't need to pay for a tour. Get a $3 taxi and have them drive you to the beach. About a 10 minutes drive. There are numerous places that will offer free chairs with food or drink purchase.

Could you please tell what beach and the names of places so we dont spend hours at the wrong beach or looking for places with free chairs with food and drink purchase?

  5. Thank you so much for the info. We did Tulum in Cozumel and hated the long communtes to get there and felt we didnt have time to do anything on our own. and I thought these ruins in Costa Maya were close to port. I dont think we want to do another 1.5 or more drive while in port it seems to take up the day . I do thank you for that website I am looking at the lagoon excursion it look interesting but it also has a long drive to it. Is there not anything nature oriented or historical near the port?

  6. That is so good to hear that you foudn your family and that the spirit of Puerto Rico is alive and well. I truley hope this island recovers quickly. Have you heard about how many or how much the historical buildings in old san juan have been damaged? Was it only a few or was the entire downtown old city demolished? I enjoyed walking the streets of the old buildings on both sides of me i would hate to see that gone for good.

  7. What is the concern over a December cruise? If you want guaranteed eastern ports no line will do that today

Mine is in 21 days I think that is getting a little confusing but I am not even thinking of cancelling so it is funny someone who booked for a cruise that is 4 months away is thinking of cancelling ... WHAT? Really? just go and plan around it, no big deal . I planned trips one month ahead before (such as a Nicaragua trip one my own alone and didnt know a thing about the place. Best rip ever!!!)and didnt sweat it how can someone take a cruise and want to cancel for things happening months before? I do not get it.

  8. THis is awful I pray for you all trying to get in contact with your families and I hope the island can get everything fixed sooner than later. I am praying for everything as I absolute LOVE this island. I also hope my cruise and everyone elses skips this port until old town san juan can get there situations fixed. I do hope they can get the money coming in soon though from tourism but I hope it is in a respectful time.

  9. I'm local but live in the states now. It's bad. I have been able to communicate with my family in San Juan and they are flooded, trees downed, poles downed, houses destroyed, power is 100% out, the newspapers did not print today other than social media posts, radio towers downed, ... you get the picture. Some Claro and AT&T costumers around San Juan have had cellphone service restored today but even then service is spotty. Wifi around some areas of San Juan is working too and most communication with those who can has been through social media.

Now, I know nothing about my family on the west side. Roads are blocked and all communication services are downed. I am praying hard that they are ok. There is very little known at this point about about most other areas west and south of the metro. The northeast coast is destroyed.

Thank you for this post. I am praying for the entire island but I do hope you can get ahold of your family on the west side soon.

  10. I read an article that stated the airport in san juan is devestated and i also seen pictures of old san juan where the streets are COVERED with debris and the trees and benches and lamps are all destroyed and the buildings are missing walls and roofs. If that is not as bad as the rest of the island that is good but it is still more damage than I would like to see. I know what i am about to say may sound selfish after all the destruction there but dont get me wrong i am praying for the people there and I am hurt for them BUT I just dont want a devastated san juan to be my wifes first impression of my second favorite country..

  11. Did you notice that they've removed the statement about visiting Antigua instead of Saint Martin? So if you were to read that message today and had not previously noticed the change, you'd have to assume that they were planning on bringing us to Saint Martin and San Juan.

    Ron

NOT gonna happen st martin is down for possibly a year or more
