  1. We loved the wheelhouse for dancing, in fact we pick our cruises based on the dance venues. Feb 2016 we were on the emerald and the salty dog was a complete failure, no one was eating in there. Cruisers were not able to sit and relax in the comfortable seats we use to have. fortunately, there was a small band which played every night after 8:00 we are currently trying to pick a cruise for next year on the crown but have read on cruise critiic that the wheelhouse is only having a guitarist for music. If anyone has been on the crown or emerald or ruby recently, please let us know if they are all the same salty dog (half the room salty dog and the other half relaxing seats) and what type of music each one has. This is how we will decide whether to book this cruise. Thanks for any information you can give us about the wheelhouses on these three ships

  2. Does anyone know if the Island Princess has the new salty dog restaurant in the Wheelhouse. We were on the Ruby and did not like the new set up. We prefer the old Wheelhouse where we can sit comfortably and dance, therefore we are trying to avoid ships with the new salty dog. Any information on which ships this new restaurant will be put on and a when this will happen would be greatly appreciated Thank you

  3. We are also very interested in dancing on the ships, We have tried many and in our opinion the Princess ships have the most variety and room for dancing. The best ones are Emerald, Crown and Ruby because of Club Fusion, Explorers lounge and Wheelhouse Bar. The only problem we have had on these ships are when there is a large group of dancers on board. Last year club fusion was rented out by them every night and we were not allowed to use it which thought was unfair and complained, but it fell on deaf ears. When Club Fushion is not available for public use, it also effects the dancing in explorers lounge because that is used for other Princess shows. therefore we always try to make sure there are no large groups on board. We check their Websites to find out what cruises they are on and avoid them.

  4. thanks for the review, we will be taking the same ship on Feb 20 and 27. Could you please tell us who the cruise director was, and also what were the names of the bands on the ship in Club Fusion, Explorers lounge, and Wheelhouse bar. We love dancing on cruises so this is very important to us. Glad you had such a great time and keep cruising Princess

    Thanks John and Alison

  5. We took our first cruise in 2001 and loved it, We have been cruising ever since. What we like most is the convenience of it all. Since we love to dance, we mostly base our cruises on the ships which offer the best dance floors and the most music. We had taken other types of vacations before we tried cruising, but We would rather be sitting at a pool than on a bus to get to our next destination. We also enjoy walking down some stairs to get to dinner and dancing than to have to find a suitable place which is safe and easy to get to. For us, there is no other vacation that comes close to cruising, so as long as they keep the music playing, we will continue cruising.

  6. We just arrived home from the Ruby Princess cruise from Jan 17-24. We were really disappointed in the fact that there was a large group on board, that had over 800 passengers. We go on cruises for dance opportunities, and we choose princess because they have the best in our opinion. However, on this cruise, we were not allowed to use Club Fusion, because it was exclusively given to this group every night from 8:00 P.M. to late. This also affected the other dance venues, because the Explorers Lounge had to be used for other entertainment, and therefore dancing was also cut back there. We have had this problem in the past. and try to find out when these groups will be on board, so we can avoid this situation. We realize that we dancers are in the minority on these ships, but do not feel that we should be deprived the right to use the lounges that we have paid to use. Does anyone know how we can find out in the future if any large groups will be on board? We wrote to Princess and suggested that they would let passengers know that Club Fusion or other lounges would not be available during certain cruises. We do not want to deprive large groups from sailing but would like to be able to avoid them if we choose to.

  7. Does anyone have experience with taking public buses from the cruise ship to West Bay and Hell? How long does it take to reach Hell, and how reliable are the buses? Where do we catch them in both directions? Cost? How often do they come? Thanks for any information

  8. We have just been informed that Angela Kristensen is the new Cruise Director for the Ruby Princess Jan 10 sailing. Has anyone ever had her as a CD or an assistant Cruise Director? Please let us know what you thought of her, I hope she lets us have some good bands because we mainly take cruises for the dance venues. Thanks for any information

  9. On one of a past cruises, there was a party in Club Fusion for cruise critic members. Is this a regular event or was this a special cruise. How would we find out if Cruise Critic has special cruises so we could join in? Do we have to book the cruise in a special way?
